Chapter 46 A Legend
The crowd froze. No one expected the old woman to actually wake up, and the timing was perfect. It was exactly three
minutes.
“She’s awake. The old lady’s really awake,” people murmured.
“Oh my God.”
“Didn’t think the girl actually knew what she was doing.”
“That’s incredible. So she really is a doctor.” The crowd’s tone shifted completely.
Nobody thought Nerissa would actually pull it off.
The woman looked at Nerissa, and her voice came out weak but clear. “Thank you for saving my life.”
She took her health seriously and often watched videos about preventing heart attacks. The moment she collapsed, she knew what was happening. It was a sudden cardiac arrest. Her mind stayed conscious, but she couldn’t open her eyes.
The golden window for treatment was only ten minutes, and missing it meant death.
Someone in the crowd called 911 right away, but the ambulance got stuck in traffic.
Seven minutes had already passed when Nerissa arrived.
If Nerissa had hesitated for even one second, she would’ve died.
Even now that she was awake, the fear still gripped her.
So from the moment Nerissa started helping her, the old woman knew she’d met her savior.
She struggled to sit up from the ground.
“Ma’am, stay down and don’t move,” Nerissa said, stopping the elderly woman from getting up.
The old woman didn’t really understand why, but she gave up trying to sit up and stayed on the ground.
Nerissa explained further. “I just used the needles to clear the blockage around your heart. You need to rest here for a few minutes before you can stand up slowly. If you move too much right now, you’ll pass out immediately.”
“Okay.”
A few minutes passed, and Nerissa carefully helped the old woman up from the ground.
The woman looked at Nerissa with pure admiration and gratitude in her eyes.
While she’d been unconscious, she’d heard all kinds of things from the crowd around her.
Some people called Nerissa a scammer and accused her of faking the fall to get money. No one had dared to help her or treat her condition.
Only Nerissa had stepped forward. ‘If it wasn’t for this young lady today, I’d probably be dead right now, she thought.
“My name is Yvonne Jenkins. May I ask your name?” Yvonne asked.
“Jamison,” Nerissa replied in a calm tone.
“Jamison?” Yvonne asked again.
“Yes.” Nerissa nodded slightly.
Yvonne immediately thanked her and spoke in a somber tone, “Ms. Jamison, you saved my life, and I’ll never forget this. Would you be willing to give me your address? I’d like to visit you in person someday to thank you properly.”
Yvonne truly felt grateful to Nerissa.
When Yvonne’s heart attack hit, and she collapsed on the ground, and when she heard passersby saying the ambulance was stuck on the overpass, she’d already accepted that she was going to die.
After all, the golden window for treating a sudden heart attack was only a few minutes.
But she never expected Nerissa would give her a second chance at life.
Calling Nerissa her savior wouldn’t be an exaggeration.
Nerissa stood there, looking at Yvonne with a faint smile in her eyes. She only looked about seventeen or eighteen, but
t
there was something effortlessly elegant abou successfully unlocked her without even thinking about it.
‘She knows how the world works but she’s not, og Girls like that are so rare!
“Ms. Jenkins, you’re too kind,” Nerissa said. She quickly packed up her bag. “Saving lives is every doctor’s responsibility. I

just did what I was supposed to do and it’s really nothing special.”
She zipped her bag shut. “Just remember you can’t do any intense exercise for a while. You need to wait here for the ambulance. I’ve got something to take care of, so I’m leaving now.”
“Ms. Jamison, wait!” Yvonne started to go after her but then remembered she couldn’t move around too much right now, so she had to stop. “You didn’t tell me where you live! Can you at least leave me your contact information?”
About ten minutes later, the ambulance finally arrived.
They loaded Yvonne into the ambulance and took her to the hospital for more tests.
Warren Jenkins got the call about Yvonne’s emergency and rushed to the hospital with his secretary. He found Yvonne’s attending physician right away. “Doctor, I’m the family member of Yvonne who was just brought in by ambulance,” he said.” How is my mother doing?”
Warren took his mother’s last name, so he was also a Jenkins.
The doctor smiled, “Your mother had a sudden heart attack and the situation was extremely dangerous, but luckily a passerby gave her timely aid. Your mother is out of danger now thanks to that person.”
He continued, “You should really thank that Good Samaritan properly because she gave your mother a second chance at life.”
Warren let out a massive sigh of relief when he heard that. ‘Thank God Mom’s okay, he thought.
The doctor continued, “But she needs to stay in the hospital for observation for two days. You should go handle the admission paperwork.”
“Alright, I’ll take care of it right away.” Warren nodded and told his secretary to process Yvonne’s hospital admission while he headed to the VIP room.
“Mom, thanks God you’re fine. Why didn’t you go out with your assistant today?” If Yvonne had gone out with her assistant, she wouldn’t have collapsed on the street.
“I wanted to take a walk by myself, and I didn’t expect to have a sudden heart attack. But I’m fine now, so don’t worry,” Yvonne said with a smile.
She continued, “But Warren, you should’ve come earlier. If you had, you could’ve met the person who saved me. If it wasn’t for her today, I probably wouldn’t have made it.”
Warren said, “The doctor just told me about that. Mom, give me her phone number so we can visit her in person and thank her properly.”
Yvonne’s face fell with regret. “That sweet girl only left her last name and didn’t even leave her full name. But I think she lives here locally. Warren, you have to find her. We’re in the age of big data now, so finding one person shouldn’t be too hard.”
Warren felt curious and respectful toward Nerissa after hearing what Yvonne said. ‘People who do good deeds without asking for recognition are pretty rare these days, he thought.
Warren asked, “By the way Mom, what’s your savior’s last name? And how old is she?”
“She only said her last name was Jamison,” Yvonne said, and then added, “She looked like she was seventeen or eighteen at most, and she was really beautiful.”
Warren froze. “She’s young.”
Warren had met plenty of skilled doctors before, but he’d never encountered one who was both young and exceptional.
Most of the renowned physicians he knew were fifty years old or older.
Yvonne nodded. “Yeah, that’s why I’m saying she’s incredible.”
Warren’s eyes filled with surprise, and after a few seconds, he nodded. “Okay Mom, I’ll arrange for someone to find her right away.”
Clive had been waiting at Kingwood Restaurant for a while.
A server guided Nerissa to the table, and she hurried over. “Sorry I’m late,” she said. “Ran into a little situation on the way here.”
“No worries, Ms. Jamison. I just got here myself.” Clive gestured to the server. “We’re ready to order.”
The server nodded. “Of course, sir.”
Nerissa slid into the seat across from him.

The food came quickly, and Clive passed his tablet across the table. “Ms. Jamison, our game is ready to launch anytime now, but we’re still missing one thing. We need a brand ambassador.”
Nerissa nodded. “Do you have someone in mind?”
Clive said, “Well, the game’s story revolves around classical aesthetics and celebrates cultural heritage. A lot of the side quests even feature traditional crafts that most people have forgotten about.”
Clive paused and leaned forward slightly. “So I want to approach Ms. Jenkins, the renowned art master, as our ambassador. But she’s a true legend in the field, and she’s known for being, let’s say, particular.”
He continued, “She doesn’t care about money or fame. Foreign research institutes once offered her billions to relocate, and she turned them down flat. She’s never done any commercial endorsements either. And now Calloway Group wants her too, and they have an advantage we don’t.
“Jane Calloway, Owen’s grandmother, was Ms. Jenkins’ classmate in the past. So Calloway Group has a much better shot at getting her.”
Clive’s mind raced with possibilities. ‘If Kinsbeat Game can get Yvonne Jenkins as our spokesperson, we’ll shatter every record in gaming history,’ he thought. ‘And Splendor Peak will shoot up from being just another mobile game to something way bigger.’
“Calloway Group wants Ms. Jenkins too?” Nerissa raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah.” Clive nodded. “And they’ve already sent people to negotiate with her, Ms. Jamison, I asked you out today because I wanted to discuss putting together a highlight reel of everything Splendor Peak has to offer.”
He continued, “Ms. Jenkins has spent years promoting classical culture and trying to engage young people in this area. If we approach her with a polished video showcasing our content, we’ll have a better shot at winning her over.”
“Alright, I’ll put something together tonight and send it to you.” Nerissa paused. “And feel free to contact me anytime if you run into any issues.”
“Will do, Ms. Jamison.”

Meanwhile, at Calloway Group, Owen listened to Mason’s report and let out a derisive laugh.
Owen laughed, “What did you just say? Clive and Nerissa have been trying to contact Ms. Jenkins these past few days?”
Mason nodded. “Yes, sir.”
Owen’s face twisted with contempt. “What the hell is Kinsbeat Game anyway? They actually think they can sign Yvonne Jenkins? They’re just some no-name small-time company, and they think they can compete with us. Ridiculous.”
Jane might be gone, but her friendship with Yvonne still meant something. And besides, Yvonne had already promised him she’d think it over for a few days before giving him an answer.
Owen hadn’t expected that in just those few days, Kinsbeat Game would set their sights on Yvonne, too.
Yvonne wasn’t some amateur. She was a legitimate master of her craft, having been invited to state banquets and other prestigious events.
Clive really needed to take a good look at himself and figure out what league he was actually playing in.
Mason continued, “Mr. Calloway, our people also found out that Clive just met with Ms. Jamison, and Ms. Jamison seems pretty confident about meeting Ms. Jenkins. She’s already planning to edit highlight clips from the game, and I’m worried.”
Ever since Nerissa joined Kinsbeat Game, the company had even won the Stratford Group bid, so Mason’s concern made
sense.
Owen let out a cold snort and didn’t take Mason’s words to heart at all. “Who does Nerissa think she is? She thinks she can
meet Ms. Jenkins?”
If he had to explain any connection between Nerissa and Yvonne, it would be before their divorce. Nerissa was technically his wife, and if they hadn’t divorced, Yvonne might have actually agreed to meet Nerissa for Jane’s sake.
But now he’d already divorced Nerissa, and she had no chance of using that connection to meet Yvonne. ‘She’s completely delusional, he thought.
After speaking, Owen continued, “Contact Ms. Jenkins’ assistant and tell them I want to visit Ms. Jenkins tonight.”
‘The bidding already had one mishap, he thought. ‘The endorsement deal absolutely cannot have any problems. Ms. Jenkins can only be Calloway Group’s spokesperson.’
Mason replied respectfully, “I already contacted them, but Ms. Jenkins’ assistant said she’s been feeling unwell recently and she’s at the hospital right now.”
