Chapter 47 The Citywide Search
Since Yvonne was in the hospital, Owen’s top priority was finding out which hospital she was staying at so he could visit her in person.
Only a personal visit would show Yvonne that Calloway Group was truly sincere.
Mason shook his head and sighed. “Ms. Jenkins has kept everything locked down tight. We haven’t been able to find out anything yet.”
Owen narrowed his eyes. “That actually works in our favor.”
If even he couldn’t track down which hospital Yvonne was in, then Nerissa definitely wouldn’t be able to find her either.
Hunter was a man of his word, so after work that evening, he took his colleagues out to dinner and sent Nerissa a WhatsApp message. Nerissa had to be there. After all, she was the guest of honor.
After parting ways with Clive, Nerissa headed straight to the restaurant.
Hunter handed her the menu. “Neri, I don’t know much about this stuff, so you order. Get plenty of food. I’m in a great mood today and money’s no object.”
Nerissa nodded. “Okay, Grandpa.”
There were fifteen people total, so Nerissa ordered dishes she knew each person would enjoy, and she added four bottles of wine that cost over a thousand dollars each.
Hunter’s coworkers were hardworking folks with serious appetites, so there was no way the food would go to waste.
At the table, Kennedy sat down next to Hunter and pulled out a thick stack of cash. He grinned at Nerissa and said, ” Nerissa, I gotta admit, I underestimated you, girl. Kennedy’s a man of his word, so here’s three thousand dollars. Take it.”
Everyone else at the table perked up, curious about what was going on.
Kennedy explained the bet he’d made with Nerissa.
At the time, he’d just been talking casually, but today he was more than happy to pay up.
Nerissa laughed and pushed the three thousand dollars back toward Kennedy. “Kennedy, I appreciate you keeping your word, but I can’t take this money.”
Hunter nodded from the side. “Yeah, it was just a joke. We can’t actually take your money.”
Kennedy worked hard for his money, and they knew it.
“What do you mean, just a joke? Nerissa and I made an agreement,” Kennedy said, his expression turning serious. He pushed the money back in front of Nerissa.
He added, “Nerissa, you won this fair and square with your own skills. If you don’t take this money, then you’re saying I’m not a man of honor. You’re looking down on me.
“And if that’s the case, then I don’t need to stay for this meal.” Kennedy stood up like he was about to leave.
Nerissa quickly grabbed his arm. “Kennedy, don’t go! Fine, I’ll take the money, okay?”
He was determined to give it to her, so Nerissa had no choice but to accept it for now.
Seeing Nerissa take the money, Kennedy finally smiled again. “That’s more like it.”
The food had just finished arriving anyway, so everyone sat down to eat.
Nerissa made her way around the table with her glass raised. She didn’t take the lazy route and toast everyone at once. Instead, she went to each person individually and offered a proper toast with genuine respect.
She paid careful attention to etiquette, too. Every time she clinked glasses with someone, she held her glass slightly lower than theirs. It was an action that showed respect at the dinner table.
Everyone at the table was older and experienced enough to notice these small gestures, and they were all impressed.
In their minds, Nerissa wasn’t just academically brilliant and beautiful. She knew how to carry herself with grace and humility. She was going places for sure.
After that dinner, Nerissa’s name started showing up in every lecture parents gave their kids. Before long, she was everyone’ s favorite comparison.

At Kinsbeat Games, Zane walked into Clive’s office, holding a stack of files.

Chapter 47 The Citywide Search
Clive was in the middle of discussing the endorsement deal with a young woman. Zane smiled and asked, “So how’d it go, Mr. Beaumont? Did you and Gianna make any progress with Ms. Jenkins today?”
Gianna Davies let out a long sigh. “Uncle Zane, please don’t even ask. Clive and I went to see Ms. Jenkins today, and we didn’t even get to meet her.”
Zane froze. ‘They didn’t even get to meet her?’ he thought. ‘How is that possible?’
Gianna was Zane’s niece.
When Gianna was working on her PhD, Yvonne had been her advisor, and Gianna was one of her top students. So when Clive failed to meet with Yvonne twice, Zane immediately suggested bringing Gianna along. He’d been so sure this would seal the deal.
But Yvonne didn’t even give Gianna the time of day, and Gianna had been her star student.
‘I guess Ms. Jenkins is just on a different level from us regular people, he thought. ‘There’s no way to predict what she’s thinking.’
“Gianna, you’re not messing with me, are you?” Zane asked and looked at her with suspicion.
Gianna shook her head. “I’m not joking. When Clive and I got there, we only saw Ms. Jenkins’ assistant.”
“You didn’t mention you were one of Ms. Jenkins’ top students?” Zane pressed.
“I did,” Gianna said, and her face fell. “But they didn’t care at all.”
The whole thing had caught Gianna completely off guard.
When she was getting her PhD, Yvonne clearly valued her as a student. But now, less than two years after graduation, everything had changed.
She couldn’t even get a meeting with her former advisor anymore.
Gianna’s mood sank lower and lower.
Gianna looked at Clive and spoke up. “Clive, maybe you should consider finding a different spokesperson.”
They couldn’t just keep hitting their heads against a wall.
Zane nodded in agreement. “Mr. Beaumont, Gianna’s right. Ms. Jenkins is avoiding us, and there’s no point in pushing forward like this. As long as the game content is solid and engaging, we’ll blow up no matter who endorses it.”
Clive shook his head. “No, we can’t think about changing spokespersons yet.”
Yvonne was the perfect choice, after all.
Until they hit a wall with no way forward, Clive refused to consider replacing her.
Just then, Gianna seemed to remember something. “Oh, Clive, when you went to the restroom earlier, I overheard something from Ms. Jenkins’ assistant.”
“What did you hear?” Clive and Zane immediately turned to Gianna.
Gianna explained, “One of my juniors told me that Ms. Jenkins is in the hospital right now because she’s not feeling well. She also said Ms. Jenkins is looking for someone who saved her life.
“Apparently, Ms. Jenkins had a sudden heart attack and the situation was critical, and the ambulance got stuck on the overpass. If that lifesaver hadn’t shown up in time, Ms. Jenkins might not have made it. So she’s incredibly grateful to that person.”
“A lifesaver?” Clive asked. “What’s this person’s name?”
If they could find this lifesaver, they might finally get a meeting with Yvonne.
“I don’t know the exact name. I think the last name was Harrison or maybe Jameson? I didn’t ask for details.” Gianna hadn’t thought much of it at the time, so she hadn’t pressed for more information.
Clive looked at Gianna intently. “Gianna, could you please help me find out more? We need to get clear information about this.”
This might be Kinsbeat Game’s only chance to compete with Calloway Group.
If they seized this opportunity, the partnership could go to Kinsbeat Game.
Gianna picked up on what Clive was thinking. “So you want to use Ms. Jenkins’ savior as a way to meet her?”
“Exactly.” Clive didn’t bother hiding it.
Gianna nodded. “Alright, I’ll make another trip then.”

Chapter 47 The Citywide Search
At Calloway Group, Yale stood in front of the desk. “Owen, I heard Kinsbeat Game is also looking for Ms. Jenkins’ savior. What if they find her first?”
Owen smirked, “Those idiots at Kinsbeat Game don’t even know the savior’s last name, and they think they can find her? It’s laughable.”
He sat up straighter and continued, “We already have the savior’s detailed information, but we can’t let our guard down. We need to find her before the Jenkins family does.”
‘That’s the only way Ms. Jenkins will be grateful to me,’ he thought. ‘She’ll feel like she owes me. This time, I absolutely cannot lose to Nerissa again. I can’t lose to Kinsbeat Game again.’
Yale picked up the file from the desk and looked at the description of the savior.
The more he read, the more something felt off. He frowned. “Last name Jamison, very beautiful, looks seventeen. Owen, doesn’t this description sound a lot like Nerissa? What if Ms. Jenkins’ savior is actually Nerissa?”
Yale had seen Nerissa after the divorce, and he knew she’d completely transformed.
Owen acted like he’d just heard the funniest joke in the world. “You mean that little country bumpkin? Absolutely impossible. Ms. Jenkins’ savior knows medicine and she’s a doctor. You really think just anyone can become a doctor and save Ms. Jenkins’ life?”
