Chapter 48 Nerissa Takes Action Herself
Owen figured the person who saved Yvonne might share Nerissa’s last name, and sure, she was pretty, but she was a doctor with incredible medical skills.
Nerissa was just a girl from a small village.
Forget being a doctor, Nerissa probably couldn’t even tell different medicines apart. She wasn’t worth a single hair on a real doctor’s head.
Yale thought Owen had a point, so he didn’t push it any further. Nerissa might be beautiful, but she certainly had no interest in being a doctor.
Owen looked at Yale and continued, “No matter what, we need to find Ms. Jamison before Kinsbeat Game does. We can’t let Kinsbeat Game get ahead of us on this.”
“Got it.” Yale slipped his phone into his pocket. “I’ll get people on it right away to find Ms. Jamison.”
Owen waved his hand and narrowed his eyes. “Go on then. Don’t waste any time.”
Yale turned and left the office.
Owen watched Yale’s retreating figure, narrowing his eyes as determination burned in their depths.
‘This time, I’m definitely going to beat Kinsbeat Game, he thought. ‘I’m going to surpass Nerissa.’
A few minutes later, Owen called Mason back in.
“Mr. Calloway, you wanted to see me?” Mason arrived quickly.
Owen nodded. “Keep sending people to contact Ms. Jenkins.” Whether or not he could find Ms. Jenkins’ savior, he needed to meet with Ms. Jenkins first.
Mason bowed respectfully. “Yes, Mr. Calloway.”
Two days later, Yvonne was discharged from the hospital.
After two days of treatment, Yvonne had fully recovered, and her complexion looked healthy and rosy.
Warren came to pick her up with his secretary.
The first thing Yvonne asked when she saw Warren was, “Warren, did you find Ms. Jamison?”
Warren’s eyes flickered with difficulty when he heard this. “No, we didn’t,” he said. “There weren’t any cameras on that stretch of road, so it’s been pretty hard to track her down.”
Yvonne frowned slightly, and she was clearly displeased.
Warren seemed to remember something and continued, “Oh, and someone from the Calloway family has been looking for you several times. They said they wanted to see you.” He paused and added, “It’s Owen, your old college friend’s grandson.”
“Jane’s grandson?” Yvonne asked.
Jane and Yvonne had been college classmates and roommates, so they’d shared a close friendship when they were young.
“Yes.” Warren nodded.
Yvonne thought about it for a moment. She couldn’t refuse to meet with her old friend’s family, and even though Jane had passed away, their friendship still meant something. “Alright, let’s arrange to meet him this afternoon then,” she said.
“Sure, Mom, Warren replied.
Over at Calloway Group, Owen was thrilled when he heard that Yvonne had agreed to meet with him. He immediately grabbed some expensive gifts and headed straight to Yvonne’s studio.
Owen stood by her desk and spoke respectfully, “Ms. Jenkins, I’m Owen Calloway. I’m here for two reasons today. “First, I heard you haven’t been feeling well lately, and my grandmother used to talk about you all the time. She always said you were her dearest friend, so I’m relieved to see you’re doing okay.
“Second, Calloway Group is launching a new game, and I’d like you to be our spokesperson.”
‘A game spokesperson?’ Yvonne thought. She’d done plenty of endorsement deals over the years, but this was her first time being approached for a gaming campaigr

Yvonne leaned forward with interest. “What kind of gone me de salking about?”
Owen handed her the prepared documents right away.

Yvonne took the files and started reading carefully. The only sounds in the room were their breathing and the soft rustle of papers as she flipped through them.
Owen wasn’t nervous at all, though. He had complete confidence in Calloway Group’s game. He’d poured nearly six months of his life into it, and he’d even managed to poach Wade from Kinsbeat Game.
Plus, there was that connection through Jane. Owen figured Yvonne would definitely agree to sign with Calloway Group
When she finished reading, Yvonne looked up. “Mr. Calloway, an endorsement isn’t a small matter. Your game does include some content related to my expertise, but I still need some time to think it over.”
Owen immediately stood up from the sofa and smiled warmly. “Ms. Jenkins, you’re too polite. You’re an elder to me, and when I see you, I’m reminded of my grandmother when she was still with us. Please, just call me Owen.”
Yvonne nodded slightly and considered for a moment. “Give me three days then. I’ll have a definite answer for you in three days.”
The moment Owen heard that, he knew the endorsement deal was basically locked in.
Unless Kinsbeat Game could somehow find Yvonne’s lifesaver within three days.
But that was impossible.
Forget three days, even if Kinsbeat Game had thirty days, they still wouldn’t be able to find the person who’d saved Yvonne’ s life.
“Thank you for giving Calloway Group this opportunity, Ms. Jenkins.” Owen’s face lit up with excitement.
The news that Owen had successfully met with Yvonne reached Clive quickly, and it made him anxious.
Yvonne was the best choice for their spokesperson, but he couldn’t even get a meeting with her. The search for Yvonne’s lifesaver had made zero progress, too, so he really needed to start considering other options for the endorsement deal.
They had to prepare a backup plan.
When Gianna and Zane heard that Clive was thinking about finding a new spokesperson, they immediately went to see him.
“Mr. Beaumont, Gianna says she can recommend the perfect spokesperson for our company,” Zane said.
“Who?” Clive asked.
“Phoebe Foster,” Zane answered.
Clive frowned slightly. He clearly wasn’t familiar with the name. “Phoebe Foster?”
Gianna jumped in to explain. “Phoebe’s a celebrity in the entertainment industry. She’s starring in a super popular show right now, and she’s got a massive fanbase. Plus, she’s always sharing her gaming sessions on Twitter, so having her as our spokesperson would totally fit her brand.”
She pulled out her phone and handed it to Clive. “Look, this is Phoebe.”
Clive took the phone and stared at the screen thoughtfully.
The game’s target audience was young people, sure, but he wanted to connect Splendor Peak with classical culture. Getting a celebrity might work against that vision.
Recently, many celebrities have been embroiled in scandals. If they signed with Phoebe and she got canceled later, it would definitely hurt Kinsbeat Game’s reputation.
‘If we sign Yvonne, we won’t have to worry about any of that, he thought, and the concern gnawed at him. Watching Clive’s expression shift, Gianna continued, “Phoebe’s really picky about endorsements, but she’s obsessed with that new escape game from Kinsbeat Game. She’s got a soft spot for Kinsbeat Game, so she actually wants this deal. “Plus, we’ve been best friends for over ten years, and she came to me first, hoping Kinsbeat Game would consider her.” In the past, Phoebe wouldn’t have given Kinsbeat Game’s endorsement a second glance.
But things were different now. Ever since Stratford Group partnered with Kinsbeat Game, the company had blown up online, and after they dropped that insane gameplay video a few weeks ago, the hype went through the roof.
Now everyone was waiting for the new game launch, and people were even saying Kinsbeat Game could crush Calloway Group at the Celestial Dome Awards.
Phoebe was already getting some buzz, so if she became Kinsbeat Game’s spokesperson right now, her popularity would- skyrocket.
Gianna had a point.

Clive thought it over for a while, then looked up at Gianna. “Since Ms. Jenkins isn’t an option anymore, let’s go with Phoebe
“We can’t change the spokesperson. Before Clive could finish, a clear female voice cut him off.
A slender figure walked in from the doorway.
With the light behind her, everyone in the room looked up.
Her face was hard to make out, but Clive recognized her immediately. “Ms. Jamison.”
‘Ms. Jamison? Zane thought, his eyes lighting up with excitement. ‘Is this the Ms. Jamison who landed the Stratford Group deal with just one proposal?’
But as Nerissa got closer, the excitement in Zane’s eyes faded a bit.
He thought, ‘Nerissa’s way too pretty. Girls who look like that are meant to be arm candy, not genius strategists who can write proposals that impress Mr. Stratford. So it’s probably not the same person.’
“Ms. Jamison, what brings you here?” he asked.
Nerissa’s expression stayed neutral. “I have a document that needs your signature, and I didn’t have anything going on this afternoon, so I brought it over. I heard you guys talking about switching spokespersons?”
“Yeah.” Clive nodded. “Ms. Jenkins won’t agree to meet with us, so we have to look at other options now.”
Nerissa nodded slightly. “I looked into it, and Ms. Jenkins is the only right fit for this game. If we can’t meet with her in the short term, we should push back the launch date a few days. Good things are worth waiting for.”
Yvonne was a leading figure in classical culture back home, and if she endorsed Kinsbeat Game’s new release, the entire game would rise to a whole new level.
She had to admit, Clive had a sharp eye for picking spokespersons.
Clive hesitated. “I mean, yeah, but Calloway Group already met with Ms. Jenkins.”
“So Calloway Group signed a contract with Ms. Jenkins already?” Nerissa asked.
“Well, not yet,” Clive answered.
Nerissa nodded slightly. “Then we still have a chance. Get everything ready, and tomorrow I’ll go with you to see Ms. Jenkins again. Maybe this time she’ll actually meet with us.”
Gianna frowned slightly and looked at Nerissa with nothing but mockery in her eyes. She thought, ‘Sincerity? Moving Ms. Jenkins? She won’t even see me, and she used to praise me as one of her best students. So what makes Nerissa so special?’
Gianna sneered inwardly, ‘She’s young and acts like she’s some big shot. Does she really think she’s that important? Forget about meeting Ms. Jenkins. With her status, she probably can’t even get past Ms. Jenkins’ assistant.’
