Dumped Then Claimed By A Billionaire (Nerissa and Owen) novel Chapter 49

Chapter 49 Nerissa Can Do Anything

Gianna looked down on Nerissa, but Clive trusted Nerissa completely. When he heard what Nerissa said, he nodded right away and said, “Alright, Ms. Jamison. I’ll have to trouble you to come with me tomorrow then.”

Gianna couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She never thought Clive would actually take Nerissa’s words seriously.

Gianna thought, ‘Does Clive even know what he’s doing? This is ridiculous.’

Gianna looked at Clive and couldn’t help but speak up. “Clive, Ms. Jenkins won’t even see me, and I’m one of her top graduates. If you go with Ms. Jamison, you’ll just be wasting your time.”

She continued, “Besides, Phoebe just messaged me and said she cleared her afternoon schedule. As long as you meet with her, she can sign with Kinsbeat Game right away.”

Gianna deliberately emphasized her connection to Yvonne to show how close they were, and she also wanted Nerissa to understand her position.

Compared to her, Nerissa was nothing.

At this point, Gianna paused and then continued, “Also, Phoebe’s flying overseas for a shoot right after today, so if you miss this afternoon, Clive, you probably won’t find another endorser this suitable.”

Her last sentence carried a heavy threat.

Phoebe was a rising star who’d been blowing up lately, and she’d reached out to Kinsbeat Game first, so they shouldn’t take it for granted.

Clive didn’t answer Phoebe directly. Instead, he turned to look at Nerissa.

He’d follow whatever Nerissa decided on this.

Nerissa spoke in a flat tone, “If Phoebe’s only available this afternoon and no other time works, then I guess we’re just not meant to work together.”

Gianna frowned. ‘Not meant to work together?’ she thought. ‘Who the hell is this girl anyway? What gives her the right to make decisions for Clive?’

Gianna didn’t bother acknowledging Nerissa and instead turned to Clive. “Clive, I think you should be the one making this call, so how do you want me to respond to Phoebe’s team?”

Clive smiled, “Ms. Jamison’s decision is my decision.”

Gianna had already been holding back her frustration, but seeing Clive act so spineless made her even angrier.

‘What’s wrong with Clive?’ she thought. ‘Ever since this girl showed up, it’s like someone took over his body. Whatever Nerissa says, he just goes along with it like some obedient puppy. No way. I have to stop this today.”

Gianna immediately looked at Zane, and he instantly understood what her eyes were saying.

He thought Clive’s behavior today was way over the top, too.

If he were in Clive’s position, he would definitely not let a young girl like Nerissa make decisions about internal company

matters.

He was a shareholder too, and there was no way he’d let this girl boss everyone around about company business.

Right then, Clive spoke up, “Oh, by the way Zane, I forgot to introduce you. This is Ms. Jamison, the one you’ve been wanting to meet.”

Zane’s mind reeled. ‘What? This girl is the legendary Ms. Jamison? No wonder Clive does whatever Nerissa says,’ he thought.

The look in Zane’s eyes shifted from disdain to respect in an instant.

Clive turned to Nerissa. “Ms. Jamison, this is our company’s Vice President, Zane Lascelles.”

Nerissa smiled slightly and looked at Zane. She extended her hand first. “Hello, Mr. Lascelles. I’m Nerissa.”

Zane finally snapped out of it and reached out to shake her hand, but then he seemed to remember something.

He pulled his hand back and wiped it on his suit jacket before extending it again to shake Nerissa’s hand. His face was full of respect. “Hello, Ms. Jamison. I’m Zane. Please, just call me Zane.”

‘Zane?’ Gianna was perplexed when she heard Successfully unlocked! tually letting this young girl call him by his

first name?’ she thought.

Zane shook Nerissa’s hand and said, “Ms. Jamison, I think you’re absolutely right. Phoebe clearly doesn’t want to work with

us, otherwise she wouldn’t be so demanding about meeting this afternoon. Meeting with Ms. Jenkins is way more important.”

Gianna stared at Zane in disbelief. She had never seen him look this groveling before. But right now, she seriously wondered if her eyes were playing tricks on her. ‘Is this really still my uncle?’ she thought.

Before Gianna could process what was happening, Zane grabbed her arm and said, “Ms. Jamison, Mr. Beaumont, you two take your time. Gianna and I won’t disturb you anymore.”

He finished speaking and practically dragged Gianna out of the office.

The second they left, Gianna yanked her arm free and glared at him.

Gianna said, “Uncle, do you even know what you’re doing? Who the hell is that girl? Why are you and Clive treating her like she’s some kind of god? You don’t actually believe she can get Clive a meeting with Ms. Jenkins tomorrow, do you?”

“Of course she can,” Zane said firmly. “Ms. Jamison can do anything.”

‘Anything? What makes Nerissa so special? Because she’s young? Because she’s good at sweet-talking people?’ Gianna thought. She rolled her eyes hard, and her face showed pure disbelief.

If she weren’t an educated person, she’d seriously think Nerissa had put some kind of spell on Zane.

Otherwise, there was no way both Zane and Clive would trust her so blindly.

Zane looked at Gianna, and his voice turned cold. “And Ms. Jamison is not that girl.’ She’s Kinsbeat Game’s new shareholder, and we only landed the Stratford Group deal because of her Plan A. Gianna, if you disrespect Ms. Jamison again, don’t blame me for what happens next.”

His face went completely serious as he spoke those last words. He wouldn’t let anyone badmouth Nerissa.

Gianna froze. “Uncle, are you serious right now? Plan A? Her?”

‘Nerissa’s what, barely out of college?’ she thought. ‘There’s no way she came up with something that good. Hell, even I couldn’t pull off a proposal like that, and I’ve got an actual degree.’

“Don’t judge a book by its cover,” Zane said. “Ms. Jamison might be young, but her business talent is something the rest of us couldn’t catch up to in thirty years.”

Watching Zane put so much faith in Nerissa made something bitter twist in Gianna’s chest.

“Okay, Uncle Zane, let’s say Nerissa really did create Plan A. So what?” Gianna crossed her arms. “There are plenty of talented people out there who are younger than her and way more humble.”

She said, “Did you see how she acted just now? Like Kinsbeat Game would fall apart without her. Ms. Jenkins is a legend, and she’s got no shortage of talented designers or brilliant proposals. Getting her to agree to work with us won’t be easy.”

Gianna let out a sneer. “Uncle, I’m telling you, don’t get your hopes up about Nerissa.”

She continued, “The higher the expectations, the greater the disappointment Don’t end up losing what you already have while chasing something bigger.”

Zane heard Gianna’s words and laughed instead of getting angry. “Gianna, you got one thing right. Kinsbeat Game will fall apart without Ms. Jamison.”

Before Nerissa joined Kinsbeat Game, the company was a complete mess.

Without Nerissa, Kinsbeat Game never would’ve landed the partnership with Stratford Group.

Nerissa was practically a legend at Kinsbeat Game, and she was the one who held everything together.

Gianna took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. “Uncle, so you’re saying you won’t help Phoebe?”

“I’m sorry, but there’s nothing I can do about this,” Zane said and shook his head.

“Fine, Uncle. I hope you don’t regret this.” Gianna turned around and walked out.

‘He’ll come begging soon enough, she thought. ‘He and Clive both will.’

Down in the Stratford Group parking garage, Melinda handed the car keys to Lennox respectfully. “Mr. Stratford, the gift is ready and waiting in the back seat.”

Lennox nodded slightly. The dim lighting in the garage made his sharp features look even more severe, and his voice came out cold. “You can head home now.”

Today was Ethan’s birthday. Every year on Ethan’s birthday, Lennox and Hannah went to Merritt Manor to celebrate with him. “Alright, Mr. Stratford. I’ll be going then.” Melinda didn’t leave right away and stood there respectfully instead.

Lennox opened the driver’s side door.

But just as he started the engine, someone yanked open the passenger door. Luke dropped into the seat and buckled his seatbelt. “Lennox, my car had a little accident this morning when I got to the office, so I’m hitching a ride with you today.” “Are you okay?” Lennox asked immediately.

“I’m fine. It was just a small thing, but the other driver was completely unreasonable,” Luke said. Just thinking about what happened that morning made him annoyed all over again.

Lennox’s lips barely moved. “Remember to fill up my car.”

“Fill it up?” Luke couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “Come on, Lennox. You’re my own brother, and you’re in the top ten richest people in the world. You’re seriously gonna nickel and dime me over gas?”

“Family or not, we keep things square,” Lennox said.

And, besides, gas prices had risen again lately.

Luke stared at him in silence.

After a long pause, Luke finally managed to say, “I wonder who’s gonna put up with your cheap ass someday.”

“Keep dreaming. The person who can handle me hasn’t been born yet,” Lennox said. His tone was casual, but his words landed with absolute certainty.

Luke narrowed his eyes, and a cold smile crossed his mind. ‘I can’t wait for the tables to turn,’ he thought. ‘It’s gonna be one hell of a show.”‘

A few moments later, Lennox started the engine and pulled out of the parking spot. He connected his phone to the car’s Bluetooth and turned on some music.

The sound filled the car, and Luke leaned back in his seat, starting to hum along.

But then he stopped mid-hum and shot up straight, like he’d just discovered something incredible. “Lennox, you’re listening to opera?”

And it was the same song that had been turned off earlier. This was absolutely unheard of.

“Didn’t you say opera gives you a headache with all that wailing?” Luke asked. “Your head doesn’t hurt anymore?”

“That was before,” Lennox said simply. “I like opera now.”

He paused, then added, “You were right. Opera is art, and our generation should learn to appreciate its beauty.”
