Chapter 51 Kicked Her Out
The driver heard Yvonne’s voice and slammed on the brakes.
The tires screeched, and the car jerked to a stop.
Warren turned around, confused. “Mom, what’s wrong?”
“I just saw Ms. Jamison,” Yvonne said.
Before Warren could respond, she was already out of the car.
Warren immediately followed her.
“Ms. Jamison!” Yvonne called out as soon as her feet hit the pavement.
There was quite a bit of distance between them.
Nerissa thought she heard someone calling her name, but the voice was faint and unclear, so she didn’t think much of it.
Clive spoke up, “Ms. Jamison, I think someone’s calling you.”
Nerissa stopped and turned around. She saw a white-haired woman walking toward her and waving. “Ms. Jamison!” Nerissa recognized her. “Ms. Jenkins.”
Yvonne reached her side, practically breathless with excitement. “Ms. Jamison, it really is you. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.”
Warren caught up to them a moment later.
Yvonne gestured between them. “Ms. Jamison, this is my son Warren Jenkins. Warren, this is Ms. Jamison, the young woman who saved my life.”
“Hello, Mr. Jenkins.” Nerissa greeted Warren politely.
Warren froze for a moment when he saw Nerissa in person.
Yvonne had already told him that Ms. Jamison was very young, but this was beyond what he’d expected.
More importantly, he didn’t see any trace of arrogance in her eyes. For a teenage girl with such extraordinary achievements, that kind of humility was incredibly rare.
Warren immediately extended his hand to shake Nerissa’s. “Hello, Ms. Jamison. Thank you so much for saving my mother last time. You’re basically our family’s savior.”
“I wouldn’t say savior, but thank you,” Nerissa said. “Oh, and this is my business partner, Clive.” She gestured to Clive beside her.
Yvonne was an academician, not a celebrity. Over the years, she’d devoted herself entirely to academic research, so most people only knew her name but had never seen her face. Even Clive didn’t recognize Yvonne.
“Hello, Mr. Beaumont,” Yvonne said, greeting both Warren and Clive.
Warren figured that if Nerissa wasn’t ordinary, then her business partner probably wasn’t either.
After the greetings, Yvonne continued, “By the way, Ms. Jamison, did you come here for something specific?”
Nerissa answered honestly, “My partner and I originally came to see Ms. Jenkins, but we ran into some trouble while waiting in line. We’re planning to head back now.”
“Trouble? What kind of trouble?” Yvonne asked immediately.
Under normal circumstances, waiting in line shouldn’t cause any problems. If Nerissa had been staying at the research institute the whole time, they wouldn’t have almost missed each other.
Clive jumped in right away. “Ms. Jamison and I got thrown out by Ms. Jenkins’ assistant,” he said. “The assistant told us people like us don’t deserve to show up at Ms. Jenkins’ research institute.”
Yvonne’s face darkened the moment she heard that. “Assistant? Which assistant?”
“Wendy,” Clive answered.
Yvonne felt even more furious. ‘That Wendy has some nerve, she thought. ‘Using her position to bully people like that.’ Yvonne pushed down her anger and said, “Ms. Jamison, Mr. Beaumont, come with me. I’m the person you’re looking for.”
Clive’s eyes went wide in disbelief. “You? You’r
“Yes.” Yvonne nodded slightly.
Successfully unlocked!
Clive stood there completely stunned. So the lifesaver they’d been searching for all these days was actually Nerissa.

‘Oh my god, this is unbelievable,’ he thought.
Yvonne nodded slightly.
Even Nerissa looked surprised.
“Ms. Jamison, Mr. Beaumont, please follow me to my mother’s office so we can talk,” Warren said and walked ahead of them. He gestured politely for them to follow.
Nerissa and Clive fell into step behind Warren.
They reached the research institute quickly.
Wendy was about to report to Gianna that she’d kicked Nerissa and Clive out, but the moment she stepped outside, she saw them walking back into the institute.
Yvonne and Warren were leading the way, and Nerissa and Clive walked behind them. Something was blocking Wendy’s view, so she initially overlooked Yvonne and Warren.
Wendy frowned. ‘Nerissa and Clive are so shameless. I already made it crystal clear, but they still had the nerve to come crawling back. They really think they’re something special, she thought.
Wendy snorted and marched straight up to block Nerissa and Clive. “Clive, Nerissa, I’ve seen shameless people before, but you two take the cake. I already told you. You don’t belong here. Get lost.”
“Who are you telling to get lost?” A voice cut through the air.
‘That voice sounds familiar, Wendy thought. She turned around and saw Yvonne’s face. More specifically, Yvonne’s furious face.
Wendy’s face went white. She hadn’t expected to get caught abusing Yvonne’s authority like this.
She tried to calm herself down. ‘But it’s fine. I’m Yvonne’s favorite assistant. She would never give me a hard time over someone like Nerissa, she thought.
Thinking about this, Wendy’s expression softened a bit, and she quickly said, “Ms. Jenkins, these two have been causing trouble at the office and throwing insults around, but don’t worry. I’ll call security right now and have them kicked out. I promise they won’t bother you.”
“Shut your mouth.” Yvonne’s face flushed red with anger. “Ms. Jamison and Mr. Beaumont are my honored guests. Wendy, you don’t need to come to work anymore starting now.”
Blood drained from Wendy’s body, and she could barely believe her own ears. ‘Honored guests? Nerissa and Clive are Ms. Jenkins’ honored guests?’ she thought.
After saying that, Yvonne turned to Nerissa. “Ms. Jamison, Mr. Beaumont, this is my fault for not managing my employees properly. I apologize to both of you, and please don’t take this incident to heart.”
‘Oh my God. Who is Nerissa exactly? She actually made Ms. Jenkins apologize to her personally, Wendy thought, scared out of her mind.
She grabbed the hem of Nerissa’s clothes with a pale face. “Ms. Jamison, I was wrong. Please be the bigger person here and help me talk to Ms. Jenkins. Forgive me this once, okay?”
“Ms. York, people have to take responsibility for their words and actions,” Nerissa said, and she pulled her clothes free.
Yvonne glanced at Nerissa with pure approval in her eyes.
Wrong was wrong, and Yvonne hated those bleeding-heart types who forgave everyone.
But clearly Nerissa wasn’t one of them. She had a clear sense of right and wrong, and she didn’t plead for Wendy just to curry favor with Yvonne or make herself look generous and kind.
The more Yvonne watched Nerissa, the more she realized Nerissa was far more capable than she appeared. She felt Nerissa deserved genuine respect and admiration.
Yvonne smiled and said, “Ms. Jamison, Mr. Beaumont, let’s keep going. My office is just up ahead.”
“Sounds good.” Nerissa nodded slightly.
Clive glanced at Wendy and figured she got what she deserved. He wasn’t about to feel sorry for someone like her.
As Nerissa and the others walked away, no one knew just how much Wendy regretted her actions at that moment. She wanted to kill herself. She thought, ‘Why did I listen to Gianna?’
Soon, they reached the office, and Warren left first, as he had some small matters to attend to.
Yvonne specifically asked her assistant to brew the best coffee they had.

Nerissa explained her purpose for meeting with Yvonne in clear and concise terms.
Yvonne smiled and said, “Sure thing. Ms. Jamison, you saved my life, so I agree to the collaboration with Kinsbeat Game.”
“Ms. Jenkins, business is business. You can’t mix personal favors with professional deals. I’m already grateful you’re giving Kinsbeat Game this opportunity, but please hear out our game concept and partnership proposal first. You can decide whether to collaborate after that.”
Nerissa preferred earning things through her own merit rather than taking shortcuts.
When she said this, Clive’s eyes widened in surprise. He’d assumed Nerissa would leverage her relationship with Yvonne to secure the deal. But it turned out Nerissa never intended to take the easy way out from the very beginning.
Yvonne had already liked Nerissa, but after hearing this, she liked Nerissa even more. Yvonne smiled and nodded. “Sounds good.”
Nerissa pulled her laptop out of her bag and started the presentation.
Her voice was clear and pleasant, and she had a strong grasp of the material, explaining everything in a way that anyone could understand. Yvonne found herself actually enjoying the pitch.
At first, Yvonne hadn’t expected Kinsbeat Game’s proposal to impress her much. If Nerissa hadn’t saved her life, she probably wouldn’t have agreed to this meeting.
However, as the presentation continued, the indifference in Yvonne’s eyes gave way to genuine surprise. The game incorporated classical culture in incredibly detailed ways, and the creators used clever methods to weave it into the gameplay, allowing players to learn about classical culture without even realizing it.
Over the past few weeks, numerous companies have approached Yvonne about potential partnerships.
However, those companies simply wanted to leverage her reputation as a classical culture inheritor to generate buzz for themselves. They didn’t actually care about classical culture and didn’t show it basic respect.
The details in their proposals were all wrong, mixing things up and getting facts completely backwards.
It had pissed Yvonne off.
The proposal from the Calloway Group, which they had sent over a few days ago, was decent enough, so Yvonne had told them she needed three days to think it over.
But today was different. Today, something clicked.
She had to admit that Nerissa’s proposal gave her real hope.
As society evolved, young people were getting swept up in modern culture and slowly forgetting about classical traditions.
Gaming was one of the most popular forms of entertainment for young people. If classical culture could be brought into games, way more young people would actually see it and engage with it.
As soon as Nerissa finished her presentation, Yvonne stood up excitedly. “Ms. Jamison, Mr. Beaumont, I’ve decided to sign with Kinsbeat Game. You can go back and prepare the contract, and I’m ready to sign whenever you are.”
Clive couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “Ms. Jenkins, you’re not joking with us, are you?”
Yvonne nodded. “Of course I’m serious. If you don’t believe me, I can sign an agreement with you right now.”
Clive shook Yvonne’s hand excitedly. “No need for a preliminary agreement. Thank you so much for giving Kinsbeat Game this opportunity, Ms. Jenkins.”
Yvonne smiled, “I should be the one thanking you. It’s been so long since I’ve seen a company put this much heart into promoting classical culture. I believe after your game launches, more young people will learn about and fall in love with what our ancestors left behind.”
This was a win-win partnership, and Yvonne believed Kinsbeat Game wouldn’t let her down.
After they agreed on a signing date, Nerissa and Clive said their goodbyes.
Yvonne personally walked Nerissa to the door.
By the time Warren came back, Nerissa and Clive had already left.
Warren looked at Yvonne and asked curiously, “So, did you decide to work with Ms. Jamison?”
“Yes, I did.” Yvonne nodded.
Warren smiled. “Mom, you’ve always hated this kind of repaying-favors-with-business thing. I can’t believe you actually gave in this time.”
In Warren’s view, Yvonne had only agreed to the partnership because Nerissa had saved her life.

Chapter 51 Kicked Her Out
After all, Yvonne had never taken on partnerships with such obvious ulterior motives before.
That was why outsiders always thought the Jenkins family acted all high and mighty.
Besides, Yvonne had promised Calloway Group she’d think it over for three days, but she’d chosen Kinsbeat Game before those three days were even up.
Yvonne explained, “I chose to work with Ms. Jamison because I really like Kinsbeat Game’s proposal and their game content, and they’re not just making games. They’re genuinely preserving classical culture. When I look at them, I see hope for passing down our heritage.”
Warren’s eyes went wide. He rarely heard Yvonne praise anyone like this, and this was a first. ‘Nerissa must be really impressive, he thought.
Yvonne seemed to think of something and continued, “And I don’t know why, but I keep feeling like Ms. Jamison reminds me of someone.”
“Who?” Warren asked.
Yvonne shook her head. “I can’t remember exactly who, but the feeling is just really strange.”
The moment she saw Nerissa, it felt like running into an old friend she hadn’t seen in years.
Meanwhile, after getting kicked out of the research institute, Wendy felt like her whole world was falling apart.
Working beside Yvonne meant great pay and benefits, plus connections with all kinds of high society people, so her family had always been proud of her.
But now all of that was gone.
If it weren’t for Gianna, she wouldn’t have offended Nerissa, wouldn’t have been fired by Yvonne, and wouldn’t have lost a job that made her family so proud.
The more Wendy thought about it, the angrier she got, so she pulled out her phone and called Gianna.
Gianna was taking a bath when she suddenly saw Wendy’s call. A smug smile spread across her face. Wendy was calling her now, which meant she was definitely sharing good news.
After all, getting Nerissa and Clive kicked out of the lab would be super easy for Wendy.
Gianna couldn’t help picturing Nerissa and Clive’s embarrassed faces as they got thrown out of the lab, and her smile grew even more satisfied. She answered cheerfully, “Wendy, did you get everything done? Thanks so much! I’ll take you out to dinner sometime.”
