Dumped Then Claimed By A Billionaire (Nerissa and Owen) novel Chapter 53

Chapter 53 What’s Coming Will Come

No one could truly understand what Tiffany was feeling at that moment.

She was sad, deeply sad.

When people reach their twilight years, they hope to see their children and grandchildren gathered around them, enjoying family happiness.

But Leo was lying in bed as a vegetative patient who couldn’t take care of himself, Charlotte’s whereabouts were unknown, and Ariel’s fate was uncertain, whether she was even alive or dead.

Tiffany cried to sleep so many nights, waking up with swollen eyes.

Seeing her old friend in this state, Yvonne’s eyes also welled up with tears. She gripped Tiffany’s hand tightly. “We’ll find her. We’ll definitely bring Arie back.”

Tiffany nodded. “I hope so.”

She wiped away her tears and continued, “Yvonne, let’s not talk about this anymore. You have to stay with me for a while since you’re in Kindowen this time.”

“The research institute has been pretty busy lately, so I can only stay in Kindowen for three days,” Yvonne said with a smile. Once I’m done with this busy period, I’ll come back to Kindowen to keep you company.”

“Don’t lie to me,” Tiffany said and looked at Yvonne.

“Come on, when have I ever lied to you?” Yvonne continued, “You know, you haven’t been to Aosthorne in years. Why don’t you come with me next time?”

She smiled, “I actually met this really talented young woman there, and she’s a doctor with excellent medical skills. Maybe she can cure your headaches. I’m sure you’d really like her if you met her.”

“Really?” Tiffany asked.

Yvonne nodded. “Yeah, actually, I’m lucky to be alive. Last Wednesday, I collapsed on the street from a sudden heart attack, and that young woman saved me. If it wasn’t for her, I’d probably be ashes by now.”

Hearing that her old friend had just brushed with death, Tiffany felt genuinely worried. “Well then, she’s your lifesaver. I really need to meet her.”

She wanted to see if Nerissa was really as wonderful as Yvonne claimed.

In the living room, Luna prepared an elegant spread of pastries and tea. “Anna, take these to your grandmother’s room in a bit.”

Anna glanced at Luna, then looked around the room and frowned slightly. “Mom, it’s pointless.”

“What’s pointless?” Luna looked confused, not understanding what Anna meant.

Anna said, “I’m saying it’s pointless for you to make me suck up to Grandma. No matter how nice I am to her, I’ll never measure up to her precious Arie.”

Anna felt a headache coming on and pressed her temples. “Mom, why do you keep making me throw myself at someone who doesn’t want me?”

Anna hated trying to win Tiffany over. She absolutely hated it.

She hated hearing Tiffany call her “Arie” even more. ‘In Grandma’s heart, I’m just an outsider. Only Ariel is Grandma’s precious darling, she thought.

Luna immediately frowned and said sharply, “How can you say something like that? If your grandmother heard you, it would break her heart.”

She continued, “No matter what, you’re her granddaughter and her blood runs through your veins. Whether she likes you or not, you need to respect her and never go against her.”

“That’s just blind filial piety,” Anna said. She completely disagreed with Luna’s way of thinking.

If she were Luna, she definitely wouldn’t spend ten years being dutiful in front of Tiffany.

Luna sighed, “She’s my mother, so honoring her is my duty And you’re going to take over Sullivan Group one day. As the Sullivan Group heir, you can’t have any stains c Successfully unlocked!ot the stain of being unfilial.”

Luna paused for a moment and then continued, Actually, your grandmouer does care about you. When you turned eighteen, she gave you twenty million dollars as startup capital to support your business. And last time she went abroad,

she brought you back earrings that belonged to a princess.”

Tiffany really did like Anna.

The Bailey family’s background was ordinary. Dunstan was an orphan with no parents, and when Luna married him, it was more like Dunstan married into the Sullivan family.

Tiffany didn’t just fund Anna’s business ventures. Over the years, she’d been supporting Dunstan’s business too.

Without the Sullivan family, Bailey Group would probably be long gone by now.

Anna scoffed, “Give me 20 million dollars? What’s 20 million to the Sullivan family? It’s pocket change Mom, if Ariel were still here, do you really think Grandma would only give her 20 million?”

She added, “And from what I know, Grandma didn’t just bring back those earrings the princess wore. She also brought back a gemstone necklace the princess wore. So where’s the necklace? Obviously, she’s saving it for her precious granddaughter.”

The injustice burned inside her. ‘Compared to the necklace, what are these earrings? The earrings aren’t even worth half of what that necklace is, she thought.

Anna’s voice turned cold. “I’ve been by her side for years, taking care of her, and all I get are these tiny scraps. And I’m supposed to be grateful for it.

“But Ariel? She hasn’t shown her face once, and she gets the best of everything. Tell me, how is that fair?”

She couldn’t understand it. ‘We’re both Grandma’s granddaughters, so why does she have to play favorites like this?’ she thought.

“Sure, they call me the Sullivan family heir, but let’s be real, I’m just the backup. If Ariel came back today, Grandma would hand over Sullivan Group to her tonight without a second thought.”

She left the rest unsaid. ‘But me? I have to wait for Tiffany to write her will. That’s the difference, she thought bitterly.

The more Anna dwelt on it, the more it hurt, and the more wronged she felt. Tears spilled down her cheeks before she could stop them.

“Fine.” Luna’s heart ached as she saw Anna cry like this, and she quickly grabbed some tissues to wipe away Anna’s tears.

She said, “I know you’re upset, but your grandma’s getting old. Why waste your energy fighting with her over this? As long as you’re the one who ends up inheriting Sullivan Group, that’s all that matters. The process doesn’t count.”

After Luna comforted her for a while, Anna’s emotions finally settled down. Luna pulled out the desserts she’d prepared earlier. “Here, take these to your grandma.”

Anna really didn’t want to face Tiffany right now, but she had no choice but to swallow her anger. She nodded. “Okay.”

Seeing how understanding her daughter was, Luna smiled with relief. “That’s my good girl. Go on now. You need to learn to let things go if you want to run Sullivan Group someday.”

*****

The engagement party for Owen and Audrey was set for eight o’clock that evening.

They’d booked the Royal Hotel, one of Aosthorne’s most luxurious six-star establishments.

The hotel had two wings, Building A and Building B.

Tonight was clearly a big deal for both, and Owen had reserved all of Building A for his engagement party. At the same time, the Penhaligon family had taken over Building B for Faye’s eighteenth birthday celebration.

Owen was Aosthorne’s rising star, and with Calloway Group about to launch their new game, reporters had already started camriping out before the party even began. They were all hoping to snag an exclusive.

Evelyn stood at the entrance with Owen, greeting guests as they arrived.

Owen adjusted his limited-edition suit and glanced at Evelyn. “Mom, you need to watch what you say tonight,” he said. ” There are tons of reporters here, so don’t screw this up.”

“I know.” Evelyn nodded, but her gaze drifted toward the crowd ahead. Something felt off. “Owen, where’s Nerissa? Shouldn’ t she be here by now?”

Based on how Nerissa usually acted, she should’ve arrived early. But tonight, she was nowhere to be seen.

Owen’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Don’t worry. She’ll show up eventually.”

Another half hour passed, and most of the guests had already arrived, but there was still no sign of Nerissa. Owen’s brow furrowed. ‘What’s going on with her tonight?’ he thought. ‘Did she actually change?’

“Owen! She’s here, she’s here!” Kaia’s excited voice suddenly cut through the air. “Nerissa’s here!”

Owen immediately looked up.

He spotted a striking figure standing out in the crowd ahead.

Nerissa had an incredible figure and flawless skin that practically glowed. She was the kind of bold, dramatic beauty who commanded attention, the type you’d recognize instantly, even from a distance.

Owen’s lips curved into a smug smile, and his eyes filled with disdain.

“Yale, see that? Look who just showed up.” He laughed, clearly pleased with himself. “I told you Nerissa can’t live without me. All that stuff she pulled before was just playing hard to get.”
