Dumped Then Claimed By A Billionaire (Nerissa and Owen) novel Chapter 60

Chapter 60 She Was A Big Shot

Nerissa’s voice was perfectly steady, but it was so cold that it gave everyone goosebumps.

Ryan was totally dumbfounded, cold sweat dripping down his forehead, looking embarrassed after he was busted doing something shady.

He had never imagined Nerissa would not only get the contract, but actually flag and fix every single sketchy detail.

He was stunned.

She went through it so fast.

She was freaky.

‘She’s terrifying!’

‘Who the hell is she?’

In just three minutes, she’d flagged every single shady part of the contract.

She had even added some clauses that were so professional that even he, a seasoned business shark, couldn’t quite wrap his head around them.

If Nerissa weren’t so young, he’d honestly think she was a pro-level legal eagle.

It was at that exact moment that he realized he’d just crossed paths with a true master.

‘Damn, I really shouldn’t have tried to throw my weight around just because I’m older,’ he thought, feeling a wave of regret. Ryan took a deep breath. He looked up at Nerissa, gathered his thoughts and stammered with a blushing face, “Ms. Jamison, I’m so sorry. I’ll have my assistant fix the contract right away. Thank you for giving me another chance.”

He was about to call his assistant over, but then he seemed to think of something. “No, I’ll do it myself. Ms. Jamison, please wait a moment. I’ll personally print the contract. I promise there won’t be any mistakes this time.” he said.

“Go ahead,” Nerissa replied, giving him a cool, commanding look. She radiated the kind of authority only a true big shot could have.

The atmosphere was downright tense.

Ryan could barely catch his breath until he finally stepped out of the office. Only then did that suffocating pressure start to fade.

He let out a deep breath.

When he got to the printer area, he leaned against the wall and let out a long sigh of relief.

Nerissa was just nineteen, but standing in front of her felt like answering to his boss.

“Hey, Ryan, congrats! Heard you just tricked some rookie,” said Ryan’s buddy Jim. “Now you can do whatever you want. Someone else will take the fall for you!”

After all, all the best ways to get rich were basically illegal.

With someone else to take the blame, Ryan would be rolling in cash from now on.

“Shh! Keep your voice down! She’s not some rookie. She’s a real big shot!” Ryan clapped a hand over Jim’s mouth.

Jim’s eyes widened. “What the hell happened?”

Ryan handed Jim the contract. “Just take a look and you’ll see.”

Jim took the contract. When he saw all the notes, he froze in shock

“Wait, you said that rookie came here alone? Did she have some pro lawyer backing her up or something?” Jim asked, totally baffled.

Ryan shook his head. “Nope, no lawyer. She figured all this out by herself.”

Jim stared at him in disbelief. “No way, for real?”

“Why would I lie to you?” Ryan wiped the cold sweat from his forehead. “And you know how long it took her to take all these notes?”

“Two hours?” Jim guessed.

Ryan shook his head.

“Three hours?” Jim tried again.

Ryan still shook his head.

Jim kept guessing, “No way it took four hours, right? It’s only 10:30 in the morning”

The office didn’t even open until eight!

Ryan held up three fingers. “Not three hours, not even thirty minutes, just three minutes! She did all those notes in just three minutes! Tell me, isn’t she an absolute legend?!”

‘Three minutes?!’ Jim’s eyes widened in shock.

“No freaking way! Are you serious?” Jim exclaimed.

Jim actually studied law back in college.

The stuff Nerissa filled in? It was straight out of a law textbook.

Forget three minutes.

Even if he was given thirty, as a law major, he still couldn’t pull it off.

“How is that impossible? I was right there, sitting across from her! Honestly, it took her less than three minutes. It was barely over two!” Ryan took a deep breath. “I’m telling you, I’m so impressed. Ms. Jamison is in a league of her own! I’ve never admired anyone in my whole life, but she’s the first.”

Jim’s eyes widened even more at Ryan’s words.

‘Holy crap!’ Jim thought, his mind spinning.

‘If she ever stepped into the legal world, she’d wipe the floor with everyone and she’d be the ultimate boss!

Soon enough,

The new contract was ready.

Ryan grabbed the contract, shot Jim a quick nod, and headed back toward the office.

When Ryan walked back into the office, he said respectfully, “Ms. Jamison, here’s the new contract. Please review it.”

Nerissa took the contract and skimmed through it quickly, but she caught every single detail. Nothing escaped her sharp

eyes.

Once she confirmed everything was perfect, she signed her name without a second thought.

Ryan immediately said, “Ms. Jamison, congratulations! You’ve officially acquired the Double Excellence Property Management.”

“Thank you,” Nerissa stood up.

Ryan quickly added, “Let me show you around the place.”

“Alright,” Nerissa replied with a slight nod.

“This way, please,” Ryan said, giving her a respectful bow.

Nerissa fell in step behind Ryan, her presence calm and collected.

Double Excellence Property Management was a pretty small operation, just a cramped office with maybe twenty people in cubicles, tops.

It was 6:30 PM when Nerissa got home.

She walked in the door.

Hunter was already in the kitchen, finishing up dinner.

Dinner was simple, fish, veggies, and a bowl of oup.

“Nerissa, dinner’s ready,” Hunter called out, messing with the juicer. “Do you want apple juice or orange juice?”

“Apple juice, please,” Nerissa said with a smile. “Thanks, Grandpa.”

Hunter chuckled as he peeled an orange and tossed it into the juicer.

Nerissa washed her hands and headed to the kitchen to help bring out the dishes.

Five minutes later, Hunter finished making the juice, and the two of them sat down together for dinner.

Nerissa started off by praising Hunter’s cooking, and then said, “Grandpa, tomorrow at nine, could you ask Grandpa Michael and Grandpa Lane to come with us to the property office?”

“What are we going to the property office for?” Hunter asked, looking confused.

Nerissa smiled. “Like I said, I’m going to make Kane Trelawney apologize to you all in person. And since your friends lost

their jobs for helping you, I’ve already arranged for them to have easier jobs at the property office, and they’re getting paid more than before.”

‘Make him apologize? Kennedy thought, his eyes widened in disbelief.

“And you even found Michael and Lane easier jobs?” Hunter added, still in disbelief.

He waved it off. “Come on, Nerissa, stop kidding. Michael and Lane already landed new jobs somewhere else, and the only downside is the commute’s a bit long.”

“Grandpa, I would never joke about something like this,” Nerissa said, her face completely serious.

Hunter paused, clearly taken aback. “Are you for real, Nerissa?”

Nerissa gave a small nod and took a sip of the soup. “Yes, I mean it. So be sure to tell Grandpa Michael and Grandpa Lane to meet you on time tomorrow morning. We’ll head over to the property office together.”

“Alright, I’ll do it,” Hunter said.

After dinner, Hunter called up Michael and Lane to fill them in on Nerissa’s plan.

When Kennedy saw Hunter hang up, he stared at him in disbelief. “Are you seriously buying what Nerissa said?”

To Kennedy, it sounded like Nerissa was just bragging.

‘She’s just a kid. How could she possibly have that kind of power?’ Kennedy thought.

Hunter glanced at Kennedy. “Nerissa’s not the kind of kid who talks big for nothing. If she says she can do it, you can bet she’s got it handled.”

Kennedy laughed. “Alright, you guys go see for yourselves tomorrow morning. But honestly, this all sounds pretty far- fetched. Kane Trelawney has got family in management. As long as he’s still there, there’s no way Nerissa’s getting Michael and Lane their jobs back at the property office. And getting him to apologize? Forget about it.” ‘Nerissa’s just a kid,’ Kennedy thought. ‘Can she really handle something this huge?’

‘Can she really handle something this huge?’ Kennedy wondered, doubt creeping in.

Kennedy added, “Hunter, Nerissa’s still so young, she doesn’t have much real-world experience. You better keep an eye on her tomorrow and make sure she doesn’t get into a fight with Ryan. The little guy never beats the big guy, and regular folks can’t win against those in power. She’s just a girl, she could end up getting hurt.”

Hunter nodded. “Alright.”

The next morning at nine, Nerissa showed up at the property office.

She brought Hunter, Michael, and Lane.

It was right at the start of the workday.

As soon as the three of them stepped through the front door, they were stopped in their tracks.

“Stop right there!” Kane Trelawney snapped.

He swaggered out, squinting at them with that smug, superior look. “Hunter, Michael, Lane! Don’t think just because some big shot is coming to inspect today, you can worm your way back in! You three were fired. Now way you’re getting your jobs back! Get lost!”

Lane and Michael both looked disappointed.

They’d already known Kane Trelawney would never apologize, and there was no way Nerissa could get them easier jobs at the property office. But seeing Kane Trelawney’s true colors up close still made their blood boil.

‘If we’d known it’d be like this, we never would’ve come here to get humiliated, they both thought, regret gnawing at them. ‘Nerissa’s just nineteen,’ they thought, still not quite believing it.

‘How could she possibly pull something like this off?’ they wondered, shaking their heads.

Nerissa frowned slightly, her gaze sweeping over the crowd. Her eyes were so cold and sharp that it made everyone’s skin crawl.

Kane started sweating bullets, snapping, “What are you glaring at, kid? I don’t care how angry you are, you’re just the granddaughter of a janitor!”

“Kane, what’s going on out here? Ms. Jamison’s coming by for her visit any minute. Did you get everything ready?” Just then, someone stepped out from inside.

Kane instantly switched gears, putting on his best bootlicker face. “Mr. Davis, it’s just a few ex-employees trying to stir up trouble. I’ve kicked them out. No way they’ll mess up Ms. Jamison’s visit, so you don’t need to worry.”

When he heard it was just a few troublemaking ex-employees, Darren didn’t think much of it and was about to turn away when he caught sight of Nerissa’s face.

Darren’s calm expression instantly turned to shock. “Ms. Jamison?!”

Hearing that, Kane hurried over to Darren, and said with a sneer, “Mr. Davis, you must be mistaken. She’s just the granddaughter of a janitor! How could she possibly be Ms. Jamison?”

After all, Ms. Jamison was the new boss.

‘Who does Nerissa think she is?’ Kane scoffed.

‘She’s just some hick girl from the boonies; Kane sneered to himself, full of contempt.

Without warning, Darren slapped Kane hard across the face. “Are you freaking blind? You don’t even recognize Ms. Jamison? Get your ass over here and apologize to Ms. Jamison, right now!”
