At that moment, the students were all on edge, and one could see the anticipation in their eyes.

Everyone was convinced Nerissa was a boy,

but still, they wanted to see it for themselves.

Soon enough, a slender figure walked in.

Nerissa was dressed in the same blue-and-white school uniform as everyone else, but she was tall, slender and fair-skinned. She looked elegant and beautiful in that ugly, baggy uniform.

‘Wait, she’s a girl?’ everyone thought, totally floored.

‘No way, Nerissa’s actually a girl?’ everyone was in disbelief.

‘And not just any girl, she’s drop-dead gorgeous!’ everyone couldn’t help but stare.

Everyone’s eyes were glued to the girl on stage.

The whole room went dead silent. Everyone was so stunned that they didn’t even know how to respond.

Finally, Nerissa broke the silence, her voice calm and steady.

“Hey everyone, I’m Nerissa Jamison.” With that, she grabbed a piece of chalk and wrote her name on the board.

Her handwriting looked amazing.

It wasn’t the usual neat, standard print. There was a casual, free-spirited vibe to it.

It was bold and full of presence, almost majestic.

The students couldn’t help but feel outclassed, and even Mr. Winfield was totally stunned.

‘No wonder she totally shocked everyone as the dark horse in the transfer exam,’ he thought.

‘No wonder even the principal and dean showed up in person just to get her to enroll, everyone couldn’t help but think.

Her handwriting alone looked like it’d take ten years just to practice.

Even he, after teaching for over a decade and practicing his handwriting all that time, couldn’t come close to that.

Indeed.

In the face of true talent, hard work is basically worthless!’

Mr. Winfield’s eyes were full of admiration. “Nerissa, Faye, you to can take the empty seats in the middle of the third row

Thanks to the Penhaligon family pulling some strings ahead of ne, those seats in the middle were set aside just for the two

of them.

“Thanks, Mr. Winfield,” Nerissa and Faye both replied.

After that, the two of them walked off the stage together.

Right then.

everyone finally snapped out of their daze.

“Whoa, she’s an absolute stunner!” someone gasped.

“Can you believe it? We’ve got a real-life angel in our class!” another student exclaimed.

“How does a girl this pretty even exist?” someone else cried out.

“Looks like our class belle is about to get dethroned!” someone joked.

“Forget class belle, even the school’s top beauty might lose her crown now,” another chimed in.

It wasn’t just the boys, every girl in the room was completely me merized by Nerissa too. All eyes were on her.

Seeing that Nerissa was not only a girl but also absolutely stunning, Betty was the most excited of all. She turned to Jessie and teased, “Hey Jessie, weren’t you always saying girls aren’t good enough? Didn’t you say only boys could ever outshine Charles?”

Jessie blushed. He was so embarrassed that he couldn’t even bring himself to look at Betty.

Never in a million years had he thought there could be a girl who’d actually beat Charles.

Charles had never failed!

Not even the best boys at Yiorlian School could come close to him!

But Betty wasn’t about to let Jessie off easy.

“What’s wrong, Jessie? Weren’t you all talk just now? And didn’t you say the loser had to go streaking? So, when are you planning to do your victory lap in the buff?” she teased, grinning from ear to ear.

Betty didn’t hold back, tossing out question after question.

Jessie just wanted to disappear into thin air.

If only he’d known Nerissa was actually a girl, he never would’ve run his mouth like that!

Betty turned to another boy and teased, “And you, Brody, weren you cracking up just a minute ago? What happened, why so quiet now? Come on, keep laughing!”

“Come on, Betty, I messed up, alright? I admit it!” Brody jumped to his feet, face flushed. “I’m sorry, I totally said the wrong thing. Please forgive me, Betty!”

Brody was kicking himself.

‘Should’ve just kept my mouth shut, he thought.

Now look where that got him.

He’d handed Betty, the queen of holding grudges, all the ammo he needed to roast him.

Seeing Brody jump up and apologize, Jessie quickly got to his fet too, joining in the groveling.

“Betty, I know I screwed up too! Please, let us off the hook just this once!” Jessie begged.

But Betty wasn’t having it. She kept her face stern and said, “You don’t need to apologize to me. You two insulted all the girls, so you owe an apology to every single one of them. I’m not in aosition to forgive you for all the girls you disrespected!”

After saying that, Betty ignored Jessie and Brody completely and buried herself in her book, acting like they didn’t even

exist.

‘Did we just disrespect every girl here?’ Jessie and Brody thought feeling totally cornered.

That’s kind of over the top, isn’t it?’

Jessie and Brody just exchanged awkward glances, too scared to say anything.

Honestly, they couldn’t really deny it. The way they had talked earlier was totally out of line.

Nerissa and Faye headed over to their seats and sat down.

The girl in front of them turned around in her seat and greeted them with a bright smile. “Hey Nerissa, Faye! I’m Tiana. Looks like we’ll be neighbors from now on. Let’s look out for each other!”

Nerissa smiled and shook Tiana’s hand. “Hey Tiana, nice to meet you.”

Tiana was genuinely surprised.

She hadn’t expected the new girl to be this gorgeous, and so friendly, too.

When she first saw Nerissa, Tiana had thought she was one of those aloof beauties.

Turned out, Nerissa was both stunning and easygoing.

Faye grinned back at Tiana. “Hey Tiana, I’m Faye, but you can just call me Fifi.”

“Alright, Fifi!” Tiana replied with a bright smile.

Then Tiana’s deskmate turned around too. “Hey Nerissa, Fifi! I’m Henry.”

Henry and Tiana were both super friendly and easy to get along with, total social butterflies. The four of them hit it off right away and were chatting like old friends in no time.

Jessie and Brody watched the group with a hint of envy, wanting to go over and say hi to Nerissa. But when they caught sight of Betty’s stormy expression, they quickly thought better of it.

‘Forget it,’ they both thought.

If they tried to say hi to Nerissa now, it’d be like putting themselves right in the line of fire.

What if Betty started calling them out for being sexist in front of the new girls?

Better to wait it out, they both decided.

In just one morning, the whole school was buzzing. Everyone had heard that Class I had a new goddess.

The windows along the hallway outside Class I were so jam-packed with students that it was hard to squeeze through, all of them desperate to catch a glimpse of the new girl.

“Damn, she really is an absolute stunner! No one was exaggerating!” someone blurted out

“How does she make even that ugly school uniform look amazin? another person marveled.

“Why isn’t she in our class? How come Class I gets all the luck?”meone else whined.

“She’s even prettier than the school belle!” someone gasped.

If it were anyone else, having all those eyes glued to them wouldve made them freak out.

She was so chill, and it was like all the staring and gossiping had nothing to do with her. She just went about her business, looking totally unfazed.

Even Faye was feeling the pressure with everyone staring at them. She turned to Nerissa and asked, “Nerissa, aren’t you even a little affected by all this?”

Nerissa was busy sorting through her notes from the last class. “Affected by what?”

“The crowd outside the window,” Faye replied.

Nerissa smiled, her dimple peeking out. “They can watch all they want. I’ve got my own stuff to do. We’re not bothering each

other.”

Faye gave Nerissa a thumbs-up. “Rissa, seriously, I need to take notes from you!”

When the crowd outside the window saw Nerissa smile, the place went wild. “Damn, our goddess is even more stunning when she smiles!”

“Class One’s living the dream, huh?” someone blurted out.

“Why couldn’t I be in Class One?” another person whined.

Ivy, Linda, and Alice were walking past Class One when they saw the hallway jam-packed with people. Curious, they flagged down a classmate and asked, “Hey, what’s up with Class One? What’s everyone looking at?”

Zoe answered, “Just checking out the goddess in Class One!”

“Goddess?” Ivy looked totally confused. “What goddess are you talking about?”

Zoe went on, “It’s the new transfer girl in Class One. She’s insanely pretty! Even the school belle can’t hold a candle to her!”

As she finished, Zoe suddenly realized what she was saying and gave Linda an apologetic glance.

After all, Linda was the current school belle at Yiorlian School.

Linda didn’t say a word, but she didn’t look too pleased.

This new transfer girl is making such a scene,’ Linda thought, he annoyance bubbling up.

She’s only been here for a day and she’s already trying to put me down just to stand out?’ Linda fumed to herself.

‘Seriously, it’s gross, she thought, feeling even more disgusted.

The more Linda dwelled on it, the more pissed off she got.

Alice squinted and said, “Linda is the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. How could some transfer girl from Class One possibly be prettier than her? If she really is, then she’s gotta be astic. No way that’s all natural!”

Linda came from the wealthiest and most powerful family of the three. Even Alice, who lived in one of the city’s luxury estates, would bend over backwards just to stay on her good side

Ivy nodded along. “Alice’s right! If someone’s prettier than Lind your eyes checked. You’ve got a real beauty right here, and you’r

she’s gotta be plastic! Zoe, you guys seriously need to get all obsessed with some phony!”

Zoe shook her head frantically. “No, the goddess in Class One ist plastic at all. She’s the real deal! If you don’t believe me. just go look for yourselves at the window. You’ll see I’m not making this up!”

She could totally tell the difference between a tech-enhanced face and a natural one.

When there was no makeup, it was obvious at a glance.

Nerissa wasn’t wearing any makeup.

Honestly, which girl who’d work done would ever dare go bare-faced?

“Ugh, what’s so great about some plastic doll?” Ivy rolled her eyes linked arms with Linda, and said, “Let’s go, Linda, Alice.”

“Yeah, let’s go!” Alice agreed.

Linda and Alice fell in step behind Ivy.

Ivy glanced at Linda and tried to reassure her, “Don’t worry, Linda. Some plastic doll isn’t gonna steal your crown as the school belle!”

Linda narrowed her eyes, sarcasm flashing in her gaze. “All I care about is studying hard and getting into a good college. What’s the point of being pretty? What’s the point of being the school belle? I’m not here for some beauty contest. Those girls at the nightclub might look like angels, but what does that get them? Just empty shells with no talent, eye candy for men, nothing more.”

“That plastic girl from Class One will end up just like them,’ Linda thought with a sneer.

Linda’d got the pedigree and the brains. She’d never lower herself to compete with some plastic girl for a beauty crown.

Ivy cracked up, totally agreeing. “Linda’s got it right! If you’re ba at school and your family’s nothing special, it doesn’t matter how pretty you are. You’ll just end up as some hostess at a club, never getting anywhere in life.”

Alice burst out laughing too.

The three of them headed off together, laughing as they went.

Suddenly, Alice’s eyes lit up as she turned to Linda. “Hey, Linda, loesn’t your family live in Sunshine Heights?”

“Yeah,” Linda replied with a nod.

Alice picked her words carefully before asking, “Isn’t Sunshine Heights developed by the Penhaligon family? I heard that their heiress just transferred to Yiorlian? I heard the Penhaligons are living there now. Have you ever seen the Penhaligon heiress pop up in the residents’ group chat?”
