Among them were five girls with the last name Penhaligon, and they all dressed alike and looked like they came from rich families. No one could tell which one was the real heiress of the Penhaligon family.

Even if Alice wanted to get close to the Penhaligon heiress, she had no idea which one to approach.

If she picked the wrong one, not only would it be a total waste of time, but it might even make her look bad and hurt her image as someone important.

And Sunshine Heights wasn’t just one of the Penhaligon family’s many properties, it was a high-end estate, a whole level above Winton Villas.

So, word on the street was that after the Penhaligon family relocated from Butterwood to Aosthorne, they’d moved right into Sunshine Heights.

That was exactly why Alice wanted to get the scoop from Linda.

As soon as Ivy heard that, she pricked up her ears and tuned in, ot wanting to miss a word.

She thought, “That’s the Penhaligon heiress, after all.

“The real deal, from a true powerhouse family.

‘Even if you put Linda and Alice together, they weren’t even in the same league as the Penhaligon heiress!’

If she could get the scoop on the Penhaligon heiress, she’d be the first to cozy up to her and become her bestie.

Once they were close, the heiress would totally bring her into high society and introduce her to all those heirs.

And then,

she’d be just a step away from marrying into money and living the high life as a rich lady.

Most importantly, she’d heard the Penhaligon heiress had an older brother.

He was off studying abroad, the total textbook rich heir type. If she could get close to Penhaligon heiress and become her bestie, she might just snag her brother and end up marrying him

Ivy’s heart raced just thinking about it.

Linda shook her head. “Nope, not even a single Penhaligon in our residents’ group chat, let alone the heiress.”

Turned out, there wasn’t even a single Penhaligon in the Sunshine Heights group chat.

Alice and Ivy couldn’t help but feel let down.

I thought Linda would at least know something about the Penhigon heiress,’ Ivy thought, ‘but even she’s got nothing

Just then, Linda’s eyes lit up as she remembered something. “Ol right! I heard the Penhaligon heiress’s name starts with a F or something.”

“Really?” Alice jumped in immediately.

Ivy leaned in, her attention fully on Linda.

Linda went on, “I think so. That’s what my mom picked up from chatting with some of the rich ladies. But who knows if it’s actually true or not?”

Suddenly, Ivy’s eyes lit up. “Wait, if the Penhaligon heiress’s name really starts with a F, I remember there’s a transfer student named Faye Penhaligon.”

Since she was determined to get close to the Penhaligon heiress, vy had already checked out the names of all five girls with the Penhaligon surname when the school announced the transfer students.

“Faye Penhaligon?” Alice narrowed her eyes. “What does she look like?”

Ivy shook her head. “I’m not sure what she looks like, but I think she got assigned to Class One.”

A glint of interest flashed in Alice’s eyes.

Linda stayed quiet.

Each of them was lost in their own thoughts.

After school that evening, Mr. Winfield called Nerissa into his office.

“Mr. Winfield, did you need something?” Nerissa asked.

Mr. Winfield looked at Nerissa, clearly fond of her, and smiled. “Nerissa, the principal already mentioned you’d be giving the speech for the senior class, right?”

“Yeah, he did,” Nerissa replied with a slight nod.

“So, have you got your speech draft ready?” Mr. Winfield asked.

“Yeah, I’m all set,” Nerissa replied.

Mr. Winfield nodded. “Great. Go home and practice tonight, and you’ll be giving your speech during the morning assembly

tomorrow.”

“Got it,” Nerissa said.

Nerissa looked at Mr. Winfield. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll get going now.”

“Alright,” Mr. Winfield nodded, a look of relief in his eyes. “Hurry on home, and be careful on the way home.”

Faye was waiting outside for Nerissa.

As soon as Nerissa stepped out, Faye couldn’t wait to ask, “Neriss, what did Mr. Winfield want with you?”

“He just wanted to talk about my speech,” Nerissa replied.

“Is it the big speech, the one given in front of everyone?” Faye asked, her eyes lighting up.

Nerissa nodded. “Yeah.”

Faye pressed on, “Nerissa, are you nervous?”

Yiorlian School had 25 senior year classes, 30 junior year classes and 28 freshman year classes, over 1,500 students and teachers all together.

That was a massive crowd.

“Whoa, that’s a huge crowd!” Faye thought, and just imagining it made her scalp tingle.

“I’m alright. I’ll just wing it,” Nerissa replied, sounding totally chill

Faye grinned. “Go for it, Nerissa! I’ll be cheering you on from the audience tomorrow.”

“Alright,” Lennox replied.

Nerissa was living in Winton Villas now, so getting home was a breeze. She and Faye had barely left the school gates before they were already standing at the entrance of Winton Villas.

“Fifi, I’m heading home now,” Nerissa said.

Faye waved at her. “See you tomorrow, Nerissa!”

“See

you

tomorrow,” Nerissa replied.

Senior year didn’t let out until after six.

By the time Nerissa got home, Hunter already had dinner ready Nerissa, how was your first day at school? Are you settling in?”

“Yeah, I am,” Nerissa replied.

Hunter poured her a glass of fresh apple juice. “No one gave you a hard time, did they?”

Nerissa had been away from school life for more than a year.

Hunter worried she might have trouble adjusting, and was even more afraid someone would bully her.

Nerissa smiled, her dimples showing. “Grandpa, I’m so popular. Who would ever bully me? Don’t worry about me.”

“Good,” Hunter said. “Nerissa, if you run into any trouble at school, make sure you tell your teacher right away, and don’t forget to let me know too.”

No matter how old Nerissa got, Hunter would always see her as is little girl, someone he’d always want to protect and care

for.

“Okay, Grandpa, I know,” Nerissa replied.

Nerissa had a habit of going for a walk after dinner.

She’d barely started her walk when

she suddenly heard the sound of tires screeching.

She was startled.

A luxury car pulled up beside her, the window rolling down to reveal Lennox’s chiseled features. His deep, magnetic voice called out, “Nerissa?”

Nerissa blinked in surprise. “Lennox?”

“What are you doing here?” she asked.

Lennox smiled. “Was just driving by and didn’t expect to run int you here. Where are you headed? Hop in. I’ll take you wherever you need to go.”

“Wow, what are the odds? I’m just out for a walk, so no need for a ride. You go ahead with your plans,” Nerissa said.

“Alright,” Lennox nodded, then suddenly got out of the car as if he’d just remembered something. “Actually, I’ve got something for you.”

“What is it?” Nerissa asked.

“Coffee,” Lennox replied.

With that, Lennox opened the trunk, took out a box of coffee, and handed it to Nerissa.

Nerissa took the box and gave it a gentle sniff. “Is this coffee we drank the other day?”

“Yeah,” Lennox nodded slightly.

Nerissa quickly protested, “This is way too valuable. I really can’t take it.”

Nerissa was a real coffee lover, so she knew just how rare and precious the coffee was.

“Coffee only truly shines when it’s in the hands of someone who appreciates it. Otherwise, it’s no different from any ordinary coffee. And coffee is meant to be shared. If you really feel bad about it, just treat me to dinner next time,” Lennox said.

They stood beneath the streetlight.

His tall figure enveloped her completely under the glow. ‘I feel so small standing next to him,’ Nerissa thought.

“Alright then,” Nerissa said, not holding back anymore. “Guess I’ll be treating you to dinner all the time from now on.”

When Lennox heard “all the time,” he couldn’t help but smile.

He felt so happy.

Right then and there, Lennox was totally hooked.

“Alright,” Lennox nodded with a faint smile. “It’s a deal.”

Nerissa nodded back.

If Luke had seen this, he would’ve been in tears.

Lennox made him pay 100 thousand for just two little packets of coffee, and Lake was so touched he almost lost it.

But now, Lennox was handing Nerissa an entire pound of it without even batting an eye.

A whole pound!

Seriously, seeing this was enough to make anyone green with cy

Lennox still had a smile on his face even after he got back to his partiment.

As soon as he opened the door,

he saw Luke sprawled out on the couch.

“Uncle Lennox, about that land from the Shaw Group…” Luke stated, but then caught sight of Lennox looking way too pleased with himself. He squinted and joked, “Hey, Uncle Lenno, what’s up? Something good happen? You look way too happy.”

“Do I?” Lennox instantly wiped the smile off his face, going back to his usual poker face like nothing ever happened. “Guess you’re just imagining things.”

“Really?” Luke rubbed his eyes, not giving it much thought. “Maybe that all-nighter fried my brain. I’m probably just seeing things.”

The next morning.

At Yiorlian School.

During the morning assembly, the principal stepped up and fired off a passionate speech. Then he called out, “Now, let’s have Nerissa Jamison, the number one senior, come up and speak for all the seniors.”

“Isn’t that the girl who scored 1420?” someone in the crowd whispered.

“She’s the top of the whole grade, so it must be that Nerissa who scored 1420.”

Alice suddenly remembered something and turned to Ivy, who was standing behind her. “Hey Ivy, isn’t that the same name as that relative of yours who got divorced?”

“Yeah, her name’s Nerissa,” Ivy replied with a grin. “But she’s just a country bumpkin. No way she’d ever be top of Yiorlian. Trust me, it’s not her.”

Even though Nerissa did take the transfer exam for Yiorlian School,

Someone like her? No way she’d ever make it in.

Plenty of people shared that name.

Seemed that

it was just someone else with that name.

Alice nodded, agreeing with Ivy. “Yeah, you’re probably right.”

“Good morning, teachers and fellow students! I’m Nerissa Jamison from Senior Year, Class One.”

Suddenly, a sweet voice echoed from the stage.

The crowd immediately started whispering among themselves.

“Holy crap, the top student is so gorgeous!”

“She looks like an angel!”

“OMG, the new school belle is also the top student? That’s just unreal!”

When Ivy heard Nerissa’s voice, a wave of dread washed over he She looked up at the stage and froze in shock, her eyes widened in disbelief.

She looked over…

and saw Nerissa standing up there and giving the speech.

‘Nerissa!’ Ivy’s mind was spinning. ‘How is this even possible? How did she end up as the top student in the whole grade?

‘Since when did Nerissa become the top student in the whole grade?’ Ivy thought, baffled.

Now it all makes sense, Ivy realized, her heart sinking.

‘No wonder everyone’s been saying the school belle is about to be dethroned.’

‘So Nerissa’s the new school belle everyone’s been gossiping about!

Ivy’s legs felt weak, and she was practically oozing jealousy.

She’d had to shell out cash and call in favors just to get into Yioran School. How did Nerissa, that country bumpkin, just ace the entrance exam and stroll right in like it was no big deal?

And now, she was the school’s new favorite, totally outshining Linda and snatching the school belle title right from under her nose!

‘Why her? Seriously, why her?’ Ivy fumed, her mind swirling with envy and frustration.

Alice froze in shock. “Wait, seriously? It’s actually her?”

Linda glanced between them, eyebrows raised. “Hold up, you guys know that plastic girl on stage?”

‘No one could look that perfect, Linda thought.

She squinted. “There’s no way that’s all natural. Nerissa definitely had some work done,’ Linda decided.

Alice nodded. “Yeah, she’s some distant relative of Ivy’s. And can you believe it? She’s already divorced!”

Alice stressed the last word, making sure everyone heard it loud and clear.

Her voice was dripping with contempt.

“Divorced?” Linda’s face twisted in disgust. “I just knew she wasn’t someone respectable!”

‘What kind of respectable person gets married and divorced at such a young age?’ Linda thought, her nose wrinkling in disdain.

‘Gross,’ she added.

Nerissa’s voice was sweet and easy on the ears, and her speech totally drew everyone in. She had a killer vocabulary and knew how to get her point across, so much so that the whole crowd was glued to her. Even the principal and teachers were completely hooked.

“Mr. Winfield, that hidden gem in your class isn’t gonna stay under the radar for long!” one of the teachers said, clearly impressed.

“For real, kids like her are super rare. I’ve been teaching for years and I’ve never seen anyone this talented,” another teacher chimed in.

The compliments just kept rolling in, and Mr. Winfield was bearing with pride. He glanced at Nerissa up on stage and grinned. “She’s seriously amazing!”

Up on stage, Nerissa’s speech was almost over.

“Finally, I hope that in the next 140 days, you all make every second count, chase your dreams, and ace the exams. May 2026 be the year you make it to the honor roll. See you all at the top!”

“Thank you, everyone.”

Applause erupted!

The applause was deafening.

Nerissa didn’t even flinch at all that noise. She walked off the stage, head held high, totally chill and confident.

Faye jumped up and waved at Nerissa. “Nerissa, you were so cool up there!”

Nerissa smiled. “Really?”

“Of course!” Faye said, grinning from ear to ear.

Watching Nerissa and Faye getting along like old friends, Linda couldn’t help but frown. “How is that plastic girl so close to Faye? Are they really besties now?”

‘Wait, Nerissa and Faye are actually besties?’ Linda’s mind was spinning.

‘Why her?’ Ivy fumed.

After all, Faye was very likely the Penhaligon heiress!

Hearing that, Ivy immediately looked up.

And there she saw Nerissa chatting away with a short-haired girl, both of them laughing and having a blast.

When Ivy finally got a good look at Faye’s face, all that envy and frustration in her eyes instantly turned into pure disdain. She said, her tone dripping with contempt, “Linda, you mean that short-haired girl talking to Nerissa is the Penhaligon heiress?”

“Yeah, I checked. That’s definitely her,” Linda nodded.

Ivy snorted. “If that’s really her, then there’s no way she’s the Penhaligon heiress! We must’ve got the wrong person.”

“Why?” Linda and Alice both looked puzzled. “Ivy, what makes you so sure the Penhaligon heiress isn’t Faye?”

“The Penhaligon family is legit, the top family in Butterwood! Ms. Penhaligon is a true heiress!” Ivy narrowed her eyes. “Come on, have you ever seen a real heiress eating at some greasy hole-in-the-wall place?”
