Dumping My Ex to Flash Marry the Untouchable CEO novel Chapter 1772

Arnold knew better than to stay and irritate her further. He slipped out quietly, no longer daring to remain in Grace’s sight.

Watching him leave, Grace couldn’t even tell what she was feeling.

But she was certain of one thing—she wasn’t wrong.

Her daughter was hers.

Whatever she chose to do with her was a family matter, and no outsider had the right to interfere.

Arnold was just a butler. What gave him the right to lecture her?

If it came to that, what was the point of hiring a butler?

Was she supposed to pay someone to preach at her?

The very thought made Grace feel the whole situation was absurd.

Outside, Arnold’s emotions took much longer to settle.

He had always believed he could speak honestly with Grace because he’d served the family for so many years.

He thought that made him an elder of sorts—someone whose words she would at least consider.

But in her eyes, he was nothing.

Every bit of concern he held had been nothing more than misplaced sentiment.

Realizing that left a dull ache in his chest.

He had overestimated himself.

She’d made that perfectly clear.

He returned to the courtyard and went back to his duties in silence.

He now understood that certain things weren’t his place to say, nor his place to fix.

His job was to do what he was assigned, nothing more.

Otherwise, he might not even realize when the people he served began to resent him.

Not long after, Tessa arrived home.

“Mom, you had me rush all the way back. What happened?”

Hearing that, Grace’s expression stiffened.

She cleared her throat. “We haven’t seen each other in ages, and the first thing you do is jump straight into business?”

Tessa felt speechless for a moment.

She had always believed her mother was a reasonable person.

At the very least, she didn’t expect her to make things difficult on purpose, but she clearly overestimated her.

It turned out she was no different from most mothers.

Always domineering, acting on impulse, never considering her child’s feelings.

“Mom, I told you already—I have things to handle, and they’re urgent.”

Tessa drew a deep breath, forcing her emotions to steady.

“So I think we should keep this short. Whatever it is, let’s resolve it quickly.”
