Chapter 126
Claim 10 Coins By Check in
Whers.
The door opened. Zane let them in.
They approached Xander, speaking politely, carefully choosing their words. Despite their respect, they were clearly there to rebuke him. Their words implied that this action was inappropriate. David even stated that he had reported it to the chairman.
Xander remained calm and didn’t use his position to intimidate them. In front of them, he smiled and made a call on speakerphone.“How’s the situation at the Coopers‘?”
‘Jason arrived aggressively and left with a dark face. His parents left as well. Zane Wellst out to chase him, and they parted unhappily at the door.”
‘Oh, wait,” the voice on the other end became excited, “Breaking news! Apparently, the Winter and Cooper families had a major falling out at the Cooper’s restaurant. The Coopers threatened to end their project with the Winter Family if Jason didn’t bond with Tanner. Jason remained firm, saying he wouldn’t bond with her, and the two families have completely broken up.”
Xander hung up. He had no idea how his people got this information.
The expressions of David and the executives were colorful. A few of them exchanged covert glances and linked through their mindlink. Based on Vera’s statement, the world believed the Winter and Cooper families were about to merge. This was entirely unexpected!
If they released the second installment of the loan and then found out this, recovering the money from the doomed project would be extremely difficult… They wished they could bite their tongues after hearing their earlier words.
Xander’s expression turned cold.“VP David, I think you need to call the chairman again. You need to apologize.”
David’s face turned crimson.
Xander’s phone rang, saving him. Seeing the caller ID, he was surprised; a flicker of tenderness and affection crossed his eyes. Xander answered the phone, casually waving a hand at the senior executives in his office who were clearly trying to form cliques. They practically scrambled out, relieved to escape.
They felt like they needed oxygen just from being in the same room with him for a second longer. They were shocked to discover hat the young alpha who had been abroad all this time had actually been quietly biding his time, honing his skills, far from the mage they had of him as a handsome face relying on his family’s connections and resources to thrive in abroad – a man they hought lacked real talent.
They’d assumed they could easily manipulate him. The reality? Their faces were swollen from all the slaps they received. Zane
r tood in a corner of the office, dumbfounded, like he was dreaming.
Sophia, is everything alright?” Xander’s voice was his usual calm tone, the phone pressed to his ear.
It’s like this,” I said, “I was supposed to return to work the day after tomorrow. My leg is better, but I need to go see my grandmother… so I’d like to request another week off.”
My voice on the other end of the phone remained steady, so much so that he wouldn’t notice anything unusual unless listened losely. But he knew I was just putting on a brave face.
Xander was silent for a few seconds. “You’re really addicted to taking time off. Are you planning to freeload on workers‘ compensation?”
‘No…”
