Chapter 134
With the internet as developed as it is, they couldn’t possibly have not known about the uproar from the last few days. A powerless omega betrayed by her partner, challenged by a mistress, and framed by her mother–in–law… how much pain she must have felt; how could she escape so easily?
But they couldn’t help, they really couldn’t… All they could do was avoid causing me more trouble. They already had mindlinked everything before I arrived.
Seeing their cautious and clumsy acting, my heart ached as if a lemon had been squeezed. I’m an adult and they’re still trying to comfort me this way. I am such an unfilial child. My wolf silently vowed, “I WILL NEVER LEF OUTSELF FALL INTO THIS
SITUATION AGAIN!”
I stayed in the fishing village for three days. I only asked Xander for five days off… days I had stubbornly demanded. If I didn’t return to work, he would really fire me.
I had to go back to MoonCloud Pack, so I asked my parents to stay a few more days, waiting until I had finished everything with Jason before returning. My father and mother agreed.
Before leaving, I turned on my phone and checked the extent of the online uproar. I didn’t win, but neither did they. As expected. They were ultimately at a disadvantage. They represented the Shaw and Cooper families, Horizon and Vanguard Groups, while I only represented myself.
I then checked my messages, ignoring those that were ostensibly caring but really were just probing. But when I saw a message from Mandy Brooks, the team leader of Project Group 3, one of my former subordinates, I stopped. It had been sent three days ago.
In the message, she said that the Horizon and Vanguard joint project had encountered a crisis. Vanguard’s loan application had been rejected, and the lender was Kingston Bank.
Kingston…
My heart skipped a beat. My wolf sensed something unusual.
I immediately called Mandy.“Mandy, tell me about the project situation.”
Mandy whispered from a stairwell, “Vanguard says it was a direct order from the Kingston CEO. They said the negative publicity would affect the project, creating a risk of loan default, requiring a re–evaluation. Although I work for Horizon, this isn’t proper, but the Kingston CEO is really powerful.”
‘Rumor has it that Jason went to the Cooper family that day at noon and it go very unpleasant. The Cooper Family threatened that if Mr. Winter didn’t bond with Tanner, the project would be terminated. Mr. Winter defiantly retorted that he only loved…” She paused, her voice softer, “Mr. Winter said he only loves his partner! He only loves you, the boss! He would absolutely never bond
with Tanner!”
‘Just as the two families were falling out, Secretary Wang urgently came to tell Mr. Cooper that the loan had been rejected. Isn’t hat amazing? It’s as if he has a crystal ball.”
Me:“…Amazing!”
I paused for a few seconds, then pressed, “Did the project really fall through?”
Mandy: “Mr. Cooper has been sitting in the CEO’s office every day these past few days. Everyone says they don’t know if it’s about his sister or the project, but after that, Mr. Winter and Mr. Cooper went to Kingston twice, but Mr. Shaw refused to see them.”
My heart beat faster.
So, Xander had taken action for me immediately after the incident. He not only made the Shaw and Cooper families suffer immensely at the time, but he also ensured they continued to suffer. I could imagine Vera being heavily scolded, and the Cooper Family wishing they could lock Tanner up.
