Chapter162.
‘I don’t need your help!”
Enraged at being pulled, Jason shoved Xander away. The moment he let go, I escaped, ignoring the stares, and fled the private room.
Jason’s eyes darkened. He was about to chase after me when Xander stopped him. Sensing Jason’s violent tendencies were about to erupt under the influence of alcohol, Zane Cooper quickly intervened, “supporting” him.
Zane Cooper: “Jason, you’re drunk!”
Gabriel’s face was serious. “Jason’s too drunk to continue discussions. Zane Cooper, take him to rest.” His meaning was clear: get him out of here.
Zane Cooper figured the meeting was over anyway, and hastily said to Xander, “Xander, let’s reschedule a date.”
Xander neither agreed nor disagreed. His tone was concerned: “Jason’s quite ill. I’frecommend a doctor; take him for treatment.”
Zane Cooper readily agreed. Whether or not he actually used the recommendation wasn’t the point; the important thing was that Xander was willing to stay in contact, suggesting a turning point. Xander added Zane Cooper on his contact list.
As Zane Cooper dragged Jason – a ticking time bomb–out of the private room, his phone buzzed. It was a message from Xander–a doctor’s business card. Huang Zhong Hua, Head Psychiatrist.
Zane Cooper sighed. How was he supposed to solve this… My wolf was exhausted. If I’d known Jason and my involvement would cause so much trouble, I would have stopped it from the beginning.
Jason shrugged off his supporters and walked ahead. His stride was steady; there wasn’t a hint of drunkenness.
Zane Cooper’s wolf was totally speechless, “SO, HE WAS TOTALLY ACTING…”
Meanwhile, I was hiding in the restroom. I felt I couldn’t stay. If I remained, who knew what else Jason would do in his drunken state. If I left, he’d lose his target and calm down. Hopefully Xander wouldn’t get hurt by this crazy man…
I was very worried.
After a moment, I peeked out from the restroom, catching sight of Jason and Zane Cooper approaching with their entourage. I quickly retreated. My wolf was on high alert for any unusual sounds.
The corridor was long. Their footsteps drew closer.
Suddenly, a phone rang, followed by Zane Cooper’s anxious voice. Less than ten seconds later, another phone rang–Jason’s this
ime…
Their voices overlapped, a chaotic mix suggesting a sudden and serious problem. I couldn’t make out the specifics.
Once I was sure they were gone, I returned to the private room.
The dinner ended. As we were leaving, Gabriel profusely apologized, concluding with, “The acceptance of the first phase of ZunYue Resort is next Wednesday. My father and I are very interested in this project. If your schedule allows, please join us.”
Xander: I’m aware, I’ve already arranged my schedule.”
Gabriel patted his chest in relief.“Good. We’ll see you then.”
Xander politely said goodbye and left with me and Zane. David was still talking to Gabriel.
Outside, Xander took off his jacket and gave it to Zane.“Throw it away.”
Zane: Okay.”
