I refused to yield. I opened my eyes.
The handsome face was inches from mine, tinged with a devilish red by the sunset. It felt as if he were truly possessed.
I dared not move.
It was as if some force had taken control. My heartbeat, my breathing, were all disordered. I felt like I sensed a hint from the Luna Goddess, but it flashed too quickly for my wolf to grasp. It felt like fate’s guidance, or perhaps simply my wolf’s submission to an Alpha’s proximity.
We were so close, our lips almost touching. After a long moment, Xander straightened up, looking disappointed. “Oh, you’re too difficult to trick.”
He turned sideways.
His eyes gazed at the setting sun… “Who says the Devil’s Hour is just a legend?
I sat down weakly on a chair.
I touched my face, still flushed from the sunset, my heart still pounding wildly.
My wolf only regained its composure after a while, “THIS GUY’S COMPETITIVE SPIRIT IS TOO STRONG! HE’LI. DO
ANYTHING TO WIN!”
The last rays of sunlight were swallowed by darkness. The temperature plummeted.
Xander turned. “Let’s go; it’s time to meet some real demons and monsters.”
I got up from the bench.
I thought, “I’ve already been scared by him. I have no energy left to deal with real demons and monsters.”
Is this considered a work injury? Are there any precedents in the Pack of ordinary werewolves being scared by an Alpha?
We returned to the villa.
At 6:40 pm, we headed to Gabriel’s villa.
At the door, I pressed the doorbell.
Soon, someone came to open it.
す
It was Gabriel’s secretary, whose last name was Chou, an Omega I had met at the dinner, every gesture oozing charm.
‘Mr. Shaw, please come in.”
Xander didn’t look at her, walking straight inside.
I smiled at Secretary Chou, and we both went in. Secretary Chou led the way.
She took us to the center of the villa, a large hall that could accommodate dozens of people, connected to the outdoor bamboo forest and a temperature–controlled swimming pool.
Upon entering the hall, we were immediately enveloped in a thick, polluted air–the smell of smoke, alcohol, perfume, and a mix of other unpleasant scents. The overwhelming mixture was an agonizing torment to a werewolf’s sensitive sense of smell.
Xander frowned slightly

Mr Shaw, you finally arrived. I’ve been eagerly awaiting you.”
Gabriel stood up from the sofa, uttering overly affectionate words as he walked towards us.
As he approached, he reached out to touch Xander. A variety of foul scents assaulted our noses.
This time, Xander didn’t let him succeed, stepping aside and avoiding Gabriel’s hand.
Gabriel looked a little embarrassed.
And Xander clearly wanted to make him even more embarrassed. He teased with a smirk,“Gabriel, you seem to be having quite a lot of fun. Bringing so many friends, you must be exhausted. I heard that they can’t even get out of bed. You should take care of your
health.”
Gabriel’s face turned various shades of color.
“YOU LITTLE BRAT, DON’T ACT SO HIGH AND MIGHTY. YOU’LL SHOW YOUR TRUE COLORS SOON ENOUGH!”
He thought to himself, then looked at me, standing behind Xander. His smile was playful, “Sophia, your Mr. Shaw isn’t sick today; he can drink, right?”
I responded with a standard smile.“Gabriel, you’re joking. Whether or not Mr. Shaw drinks is up to him. As his subordinate, I just follow orders.”
Gabriel:“Then I must get Mr. Shaw drunk tonight.”
With a wave of his hand, he said, “Let’s sit down first. I’ll introduce you to a few friends.”
The so–called VIPs all stood up the moment Xander walked in.
These so–called “VIPs” all showed fawning expressions. The Omega beauties who accompanied them also knew that the arriving guest was extremely important and so young and handsome. They stood up in twos and threes. A few who were by the outdoor temperature–controlled pool, in swimsuits, peered over to look.
I discreetly scanned the room.
I counted the ten beauties Robert had mentioned. Including Secretary Chou, there were only nine. Where was the tenth?
I searched, and finally, behind some plants by the pool, I saw a pair of slender, porcelain–white legs in white sneakers. She looked incredibly innocent.
