Chapter171.
My eyebrows rose.
t was her.
My wolf sneered, “HA, OLD FOX GABRIELS PLAYING THIS GAME.”
Xander went over. I didn’t follow. Since it was a wine tasting, it would look odd if I crowded in to help drink. If I wasn’t careful, I’d be “recruited” as the eleventh beauty. Then they’d touch my hands and legs. Even if Xander defended me, I’d still have suffered. And I couldn’t hit them with a wine bottle.
Besides, I had a more important mission tonight… My wolf’s tone was steady, To monitor these people, preventing them from ampering with my boss’s wine.*
found a spot where I could observe the whole room without being conspicuous.
n the hall, several groups of sofas were arranged in a large square shape, with several coffee tables scattered in the center.
When Xander arrived, he didn’t sit in the seat Gabriel had specifically reserved for him. Instead, he chose a single seat.
The message was clear: Don’t come near me.
Gabriel looked embarrassed. He also changed seats, moving to the diagonally opposite corner closest to Xander, making it easy to that with him. The others also shifted closer to the two “big shots.” They wanted to ingratiate themselves with Xander, but Xander was completely unresponsive, even lowering his head to play with his phone.
The heir to Kingston Group certainly had a commanding presence. He completely ignored them…
My wolf laughed, “WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?”
shifted my gaze and noticed that Secretary Chou was acting as a wine pourer. One VIP took the opportunity to squeeze her buttocks, his expression lecherous. She didn’t say anything, just returning a coquettish smile.
But I sensed disgust in that smile, despite her almost flawless disguise.
I sighed inwardly, looking disdainfully at the skinny, withered VIP. Garbage VIP; just a human flow!
I saw Secretary Chou pour wine for Xander, and he politely thanked her. This was the most ordinary courtesy, a basic skill for ordinary werewolf, yet she seemed momentarily stunned, then smiled and said “You’re welcome.”
Her smile wasn’t flirtatious but dignified and sweetly Omega–like. She reverted to the role of a proper, upright secretary.
My wolf was surprised by her two completely different sides.
୮
But immediately, my wolf understood. Being treated like an object by Gabriel, thrown to his friends to be toyed with, the sudden respect, however ordinary, would be moving.
‘Mr. Shaw, this wine is my treasured collection. I only opened it for you. It’s been properly decanted; try it.”
Gabriel swirled his wine glass, a deep smile in his eyes, yet the feeling wasn’t warmth but the insincere cunning of a seasoned
veteran.
Xander looked at the color of the wine, then smelled it, finally taking a small sip.“Hmm, it’s okay.”
His tone was casual, his expression flat.
The others present were prepared to shower him with exaggerated praise, especially the four so–called VIPs. One, supposedly a painter, had already planned to paint a picture on the spot.
Yet Xander’s indifferent “it’s okay” made the million–dollar wine sound like a two–for–one deal from the supermarket…
Gabriel wanted to strangle this arrogant brat.

Airwolf was Indignant, “WHEN I WAS DOING BUSINESS WITH YOUR FATHER, YOU WERE STILL DRINKING MILK IN YOUR MOTHER’S ARMS! YOU WERE CUTE AND CHUBBY AS A CHILD, WHY DID YOU GROW UP TO BE SO TROUBLESOME AND ANNOYING? YOU’RE EVEN MORE UNYIELDING THAN YOUR FATHER.”
The atmosphere was slightly awkward. Several VIPs and their female companions could only lower their heads and silently drink.
Xander, seemingly oblivious to the awkwardness he had caused, leaned back casually, holding his wine but with no intention of taking another sip. His cool peach blossom eyes drifted towards a corner of the pool outside.
Why is it that as an Alpha, I can’t compare to a newly arrived Omega?
She’s taken away all the love from my two closest friends….
