Chapter190.
“!” My mind conjured up images, my face slightly flushing.“Are you sure “I’m eating “him“, and not the other way around? Have you ever seen a gazelle eat a lion on the African savanna? He’s an alpha!”
She thought too highly of me.
Summer:“Doesn’t matter who eats who. When the feeling’s there, it’s a fusion of you and me, me and you. Why are you being so picky?”
I cracked open one eye.“…Master Summer, you should find a boyfriend first. Don’t act like an experienced omega when you’re still a virgin.”
Summer opened and closed her mouth, defeated.
Early morning. I struggled to get up at seven. Three hours of sleep, up at seven, at the office by nine. When I was making coffee in the break room, it felt like I was brewing a life–saving potion.
Wher. I returned to my office with my coffee, I found Xander already there. Because Zane’s office door was open… Come to think of it, he was even more tired than me. At least I don’t have to be on call 24/7.
Thinking that, my steps became lighter.
Back in my office, Zane arrived less than two minutes later.
‘Sophia, your dark circles are heavy, and your face is puffy. You’ve had a tough couple of days.”
‘Don’t even mention it.” I gave him a pained expression.
I wanted to complain about Gabriel’s actions, but then I remembered the drugging incident. If I mentioned it, I’d be implicated. If I didn’t mention that part, I couldn’t fully illustrate how bad Gabriel was. So I decided not to say anything.
Anyway, the Shaw Family wouldn’t let him off the hook. And how they’d deal with him wasn’t my concern.
Zane sat down and we discussed work matters. Finally, he tentatively asked, “Mr. Shaw didn’t… give you a hard time, did he?”
‘No,” I smiled. “Why do you ask? Does he give you a hard time on your business trips?”
‘Not really. He’s usually pretty good.”
‘He is.”
EXCEPT FOR THOSE FEW TIMES HE’S DIFFICULT!” our wolves said in unison.
We shared a knowing smile. Although we weren’t sure what we were empathizing about, we definitely were..
The morning meeting ended. Leaving the conference room, I received a call from Mandy, my former subordinate. She invited me
o lunch.
I glanced at Xander, who was walking ahead. Knowing he didn’t have lunch plans, and Zane would be there, I said, “Sure. Which
restaurant?”
Hidden Spring.”
‘Okay, I’ll be there around twelve.”
‘Okay, Mandy’s voice was slightly hesitant.
Hanging up, she looked at Jason, who was standing beside Mandy. “Sorry, Manager Wells. I was forced” Mandy’s wolf apologized silently.
I put away my phone. Xander glanced back, his expression deep but emotionless.
