I asked rhetorically with a smile.

Jason thought for a moment and agreed. “Not working is good. You can just stay home, and we can try for a puppy. It will be the next Head Warrior of our Pack.”

I smiled, neither confirming nor denying.

Heh, you think so well of yourself. You want me to be your baby–making machine while you continue your nightly rendezvous with Sweetheart? Go ahead and dream on.

“Then I’ll start the resignation process these days. I want to travel to Europe; I’ve made plans with Summer. It’s been a long time since I’ve traveled.”

“Isn’t her law firm busy? Does she have time to travel with you?”

“She’s busy, but she specifically made time for me,” I said cheerfully.

Jason was momentarily speechless, as if realizing something.

After a while, he said again, “It’s good to get away. I’ll arrange your itinerary in advance, you don’t need to worry about anything, just relax and enjoy yourself.”

I still smiled, neither agreeing nor disagreeing. My wolf answered him silently in my head, “WE’LL SAY GOODBYE TO YOU
