Eight Years of Maybe One Day of I Do—Bride Swapped Deal With It novel Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Caspian froze.

Invitation? He didn’t have one.

He frowned, voice taking on that edge he used in boardrooms.

“I’m the groom!”

The staff member’s smile faltered.

She looked at him in confusion.

Then glanced down at her guest list, asking carefully.

“You’re… the groom? Mr. Reid?”

“Obviously.”

Caspian’s patience was running out fast.

Guests were already streaming in.

Because the wedding was so rushed, none of his family got invited-which pissed him off.

But whatever. He was here now. He wasn’t gonna make a scene over it.

A few curious glances drifted his way.

“Oh! I’m so sorry!” The staff member seemed to confirm something, quickly stepping aside.

“Mr. Reid, the bride hasn’t arrived yet. You can wait in the lounge inside the ballroom… would you like me to show you?”

Caspian waved her off.

He walked straight through the red-carpet hallway into the ballroom.

Some familiar faces spotted him.

“Caspian! Congrats, man! Eight years-finally tying the knot!”

“Where’s the bride? Keeping her under wraps?”.

He forced a smile and nodded.

But his eyes kept darting toward the entrance.

Where was Thea?

Where was Briar?

No one he could even ask.

He tried calling Thea again. Still off.

Just as he was about to hunt down the hotel manager, a ripple of excitement stirred near the entrance.

Kids laughing. Voices rising.

Caspian’s spirits lifted. He straightened his jacket and walked toward the entrance.

He was ready.

Ready to see her in that dress, stunning as hell.

Ready to catch that look in her eyes-hurt, maybe, or surprised.

Ready to play the magnanimous husband in front of everyone.

Even though in his head, he was already planning to talk to her tonight about how far she’d taken this little stunt.

The crowd parted.

First came the flower girl in her fluffy dress, tossing petals.

Then Briar, in that champagne bridesmaid gown.

Her eyes landed on Caspian immediately-standing at the end of the aisle, walking toward her.

Her smile vanished.

Caspian felt that look like a slap. His steps faltered.

But Briar had already turned away. She stepped aside, gesturing toward the entrance.

“Now, let’s welcome today’s most beautiful bride-Miss Thea Marlowe!”

The next second, Thea appeared in the doorway.

r face under the veil was beautiful and serene.

at soft smile he’d seen in the photos.

Caspian’s heart slammed against his ribs.

Every word he’d rehearsed stuck in his throat.

He started forward, ready to do his part.
