Grant walked over to Wyatt and started whispering to him. I saw Reed’s eyes go black and his stance get really rigid. I don’t think I am going to like what is going to happen. I kept going over in my head about all the control my dad taught me. I needed to focus and have a game plan. I don’t know how many times I tasted my own blood and tears as my dad beat control into me. But when the emotion gets in, I am a goner. It rises up to the service and just explodes. Like when I blasted Wyatt or when I blasted the door open. It took me a solid two weeks of being held captive before I got fed up and did that.
Grant and Wyatt came over to me. I could see how pissed off Wyatt was. Glancing back at Reed, he sat down in a chair with this head in his hands, looking at the ground. His elbows were resting on his knees. I looked into his emotions, and he was pissed off, scared and worried. Oh man, I am really not going to like this.
Looking at Wyatt, he was feeling pissed off, worried and sorrowful. I kept my face blank as they approached me.
“Now, I understand you have been taught to control your emotions and steady your heart rate. You did a fine job of it yesterday. However, when your emotions do get the best of you is when you need to work on control, correct?”
“Yeeessss…” I said slowly. I am not sure where this is going and I really don’t want to find out.
“Well, you need to get pissed off and no one can piss you off like your mate can.”
I looked between Grant and Wyatt like this was a joke. They are going to intentionally make Wyatt piss me off here. What is he going to say, he doesn’t like my hair? I heard a commotion behind Wyatt. We all turned and saw Reed moving the mats in a row behind Wyatt, so no matter how far I threw him, he would land softly…
“Begin”, Grant said and stepped away.
Wyatt looked like he was in physical pain. He kept opening his mouth and shutting it again like he wasn’t sure what to say.
“What could he possibly say that would piss me off? He doesn’t like my shoes? Am I too big chests?” I said looking between the boys. I was starting to feel annoyed at the lack of response and, since I wasn’t sure what direction this was going to go.
“I…I don’t want you to go to the council because I don’t think you will do it right. I think you will fail, get caught and they will kill you.” Wyatt said finally.
Like a needle, it went straight to my heart. The worst part is, I actually felt like he meant this. I knew he was struggling to let me go, but I assumed it was because he didn’t want to lose me like when I was kidnapped. I wasn’t expecting this low of a blow.
“You don’t believe in me” I said quietly.
“I think you are too weak to accomplish this.”
“You are just saying this to get a rise out of me” I said stubbornly.
“He isn’t,” Reed piped up “He told me so when you went to bed after you told us what happened.”
My mouth dropped open. I felt so hurt. My own mate didn’t believe in me. I turned my back to them and put my hands on my hips. The fuck, I will let them see the tears in my eyes. I will not shed one tear about this! I figured they would say something to piss me off, but this was an attack on my character. On my abilities. That men are stronger, and women are weaker.
“I said I wanted to go instead of you, but that was because a woman can’t do what a man can”, Wyatt said strongly.
I closed my eyes and when I opened them, I could feel my eyes glow. I felt a hand on my arm, and I turned around and screamed. With that scream came a blast of the most powerful amount of energy I have shed yet. Wyatt flew back 50 feet and hit the wall before he slid down to his ass. Reed ran to check on him and Grant came up to me.
“Look inside you. Feel what you are feeling. Do you feel the power under your skin?” Grant said.
I knew my eyes were still glowing, but I focused my mind on my body and not on what happened around me. There was like a hum. I felt my body humming. It was different than electricity. That felt like tingles, like when you get chills, and it runs down your leg. This felt like a vibration. A slow, steady vibration like when you are in a car and the motor is running but the car is parked.
