“How professional of you boys”, I teased.

They both smirked but looked uneasy. “We have strict orders and I would rather not have the alpha break my arm. That shit hurts!” Justin said, looking unimpressed.

“Regardless, your safety is our top priority. The alphas believe someone will try to get too close to you and we should not allow it.”

I zeroed in on that. “You what? Wyatt thinks I am going to be attacked?”

Maverick looked at Justin like he had just fucked up big time. Justin looked guilty. “I… not what I meant. Just that an alpha could challenge you and that would be bad.” He stuttered. Lie.

I let my aura flow out of me and elope Justin and Maverick. Both of them instantly kneeled down low. “Want to tell me the truth now?”

“Wyatt said he has gotten threats. Threats that something will happen, or someone will try to kill you today.” Maverick said hurriedly.

“I see, and do we know where these threats are coming from?”

“No Luna, we don’t. Just something he got in the mail the other day. Hand delivered, no return address, no video proof, just came out of nowhere.” Justin said.

Just then, the door opened, and Wyatt and Reed came through. Reed instantly kneeled and Wyatt looked alarmed. He winced a little but didn’t kneel. “What is wrong?”

“When were you going to tell me about the threat made against my life?” I asked him. Wyatt instantly looked at Justin and Maverick. “I will deal with you two later. Stand outside the door and guard it.”

Justin and Maverick tried to move but was kept still from my aura. “Love, please let them go” Wyatt said softly. I pulled it back in and I watched them get up and go stand outside the door. Reed stood up and moved to the couch next to Kelly.

“You were already worried about the speech; I didn’t want to add more stress to you!” Wyatt said as he raised his hands, so I saw his psalms.

“Sometimes, I wonder if you really know anything about me, Wyatt! I welcome physical attacks. I thrive in physical matters. Damian could never beat me in a fight. I was literally trained my whole life to be the best. I can handle any fighting or attack or any alpha, thinking they can get away with whatever they want. I may not be as buff as you, but my abilities make up for it. No one will be able to defeat me. Even you!” I was pissed. “Why do you keep treating me like I need to be saved?”

Wyatt hung his head. “I know, I am sorry Nina. I can’t help this overwhelming urge to protect you. You have been so stressed out over this speech that I didn’t want to throw anything else in there. I was going to tell you after the event today. But you need to realize we are a team in this and I do have a say about how things are run.”

“A team doesn’t keep information from each other!” My anger was defusing a little.

“I know that, but again, I was going to tell you later. After your speech,” Wyatt said as he came over to me and used his hands to tilt my face up. His thumbs caressed my cheeks. “You are so beautiful when you get mad and your cheeks turn red.” Wyatt leaned down and kissed me gently on his lips. It was a very romantic type of kiss. A kiss that said sorry, not sorry, but forgive me.
