Emerald Eyed Luna novel Nina (by Mrs.Smith) novel Chapter 68

I turned to leave when someone shouted, “We stand behind you, my Queen!” I turned to look to see many of the Alphas and Lunas bowing their heads. A few Alphas turned and left the arena but the majority of them stayed.

“Leave your information with our front desk attendants before you leave here. They will provide you with our business card with our contact information. I will be sending out an email with updates on the ongoing situation with the council, but a war is brewing. It is just a matter of time. Get your warriors ready!” Wyatt yelled to everyone. The other doors opened and allowed everyone to exit the area.

I grabbed Wyatt’s arm as we began to walk out. Something sticky was on his jacket. I pulled my hand away and it was colored in red. I let out a gasp as I realized, Wyatt had been shot! “Holy fuck Wyatt! You got shot! You took the bullet for me!?”

It was then I noticed how pale Wyatt was and I looked behind me. There was a trail of blood leading to a pool of blood from the podium.

“REED, JUSTIN MAVERICK!” I screamed as Wyatt staggered into me. They came running to me. Seeing Wyatt stagger and the blood, they put it together. Reed grabbed his arms and Justin grabbed his legs. Together they carried him out. Maverick grabbed my arm and Kelly’s and drug us behind them.

“Hospital is an hour away” Reed said as a white catering van pulled in front of us. The door flew open. It was filled with first aid items. “This is my emergency vehicle. Get in!” They pulled Wyatt into the van. We all piled in and the driver took off.

“You better fucking get us there faster than an hour!” I warned the driver. He looked at me in the mirror and floored it.

Reed grabbed Wyatts shirt and jacket and ripped it off in one motion. The black hid the amount of blood that he was losing. His whole torso was covered in blood! There was a bullet hole in his right shoulder just below the clavicle. I grabbed Wyatt’s hand and focused on his heartbeats.

“Come on baby, don’t do it!” I cried.

Wyatt was barely conscious, he looked at me in the eyes, “I am so proud of you. I love you” he said before his eyes rolled, in the back of his head and he passed out.

“No no no no no no!” I kept repeating those words as Reed worked on the wound. He had a pair of scissors-looking things as he dug around in there.

“Got it!” He said as he pulled out the bullet from Wyatt’s shoulder.

“Oh fuck!” Justin said, looking at the bullet.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“That bullet is pure silver and is designed to release poison. It looks like it is empty! Wyatt got the full dose of the poison!”

I took the bullet from the clamps.

“No! don’t touch it!” Everyone shouted.

“It’s fine. I am immune to poisons and silver.”

I examined it closely. It was not like an original bullet. This one had a chamber inside it. The tip was smashed like normal, and the sides were all silver but a window on the side revealing empty case. The poison must have been spilled once the bullet shattered.

“It won’t stop bleeding!” Reed said. I looked over and Reed was covered in blood, and it just kept pouring out from Wyatt’s shoulder. “It must keep his blood from clotting!”

“How much longer?” I asked the driver.

“This is Nina, his mate,” Reed said and brought me up front. Kelly was standing beside me. Her face was stained with her mascara.

“I am Dr. Wood. Wyatt was in rough shape. We had to place him in a medically induced coma. He lost half of his blood. We had to give him a very aggressive treatment to counteract the poison that was in the bullet. I haven’t seen this poison yet but I will keep working on getting his blood to clot. He is stable right now. You can go back to see him.”

“Thank you” I said to the doctor and followed him back.

“Prepare yourself, he has a breathing tube, and he is hooked up to machines.” Dr. Wood said

I took a deep breath and nodded. Dr. Wood opened the door, and my breath was instantly caught. I walked up to him and took his hand in mine. He felt cold to touch. Wyatt was hooked up to so many machines, I didn’t know where and what they did. I didn’t care though, I just wanted him better. I pulled up a chair and sat down. Resting my forehead on his hand I just focused all my healing and positive energy on him through the bond. I must have given him all my energy, or my adrenaline went away, because next thing I know, I was being shaken awake.

“Nina, I need to get you home.”

I looked up and saw Reed and Kelly. She was staring at her brother as silent tears ran down her face. “What time is it?”

“Almost mid-night. I promised Wyatt that if anything happened to you, I would make sure you followed the plan and look after you. You will need to go to the council in 14 hours.”

Kelly’s head snapped over to us, “You are going to the council?”

Shit, I looked at Reed. He knew he had fucked up, but he couldn’t take it back. “I will tell you when we get home, okay?” He asked her as he wiped her tears off her cheek. She nodded but the look in her eyes told me this wasn’t the last I heard about it.
