We got home and I immediately went upstairs and took a shower where I bawled my eyes out until they were dry. I had no more tears to shed. My mate was lying in a bed at a random hospital, and I couldn’t even be there to help him survive. I hated this war, hated being put in this place. That bullet should have been mine to endure.

Lying in our bed, I reached over to Wyatt’s side and was met by the coldness. Grabbing his pillow, I hugged it tightly. It smelled like him still and it comforted me a little. Tomorrow, I must walk freely into the council’s arms and present myself to be questioned. Further away from where I feel like I should be at right now. I didn’t want to go before and now I really don’t want to go. I know I need to stay strong, but damn if I have to like it.

I, suddenly, felt really sleepy and so I closed my eyes. Next thing I know, I am in the most beautiful garden. Lush green grass, flowers of every color scattered around in a spiral, creating a path, leading to a bench where a woman sat. I recognized her instantly.

“Hello Sabrina!” I said as I walked over to her and sat down.

“Hello my dear child.” She said in her velvet smooth voice.

“Why am I here?” I asked, looking around. Last time I was here, I didn’t get great news, so I am a little nervous.

“I wanted to check on you before tomorrow.”

“Is Wyatt going to make it?” I asked, just getting right to the point.

“My child, I do not know. That bullet was not meant for him. However, I chose him for a reason for you. He is strong. You held on to the bond and sent him your energy and that will make all the difference. But you need to keep your energy, as you will need it now.”

“Is the war still going to happen? We got a lot of alphas on our side.”

“Yes, I still see the war happening. You must get the evidence. I am afraid that you will continue to see attacks if people think you just bested the council and you were rightfully their queen.”

Sighing, I just looked straight ahead.

“Don’t worry about Wyatt. I will take care of him. You need to focus on your job tomorrow. Remember, 3 days and you HAVE to leave.”

“Is Grant on our side?”

“Yes, he has an unusual way about things, but he will help you.”

I blew out the breath I didn’t realize I was holding. “So, I need to give myself up for questioning, handle being tortured, sneak out, find Devin’s office, get the evidence and escape in 3 days without being caught? Easy enough” I said, recapping my plan.

“I don’t minimize your sufferings, Nina. But I can only tempt fate so much. Things could be much worse if I did. All I can do is guide you and help you succeed. I have been waiting YEARS for you to be born and for my creations to stop hurting each other.”

“Why me though?”

“If not you, then who? Would you transfer this burden to anyone else?”

I hung my head ashamed, “Of course not.”

“And that’s why. You are good. You represent all that is good in this world and will make a warm and fair queen to them.”

“I just hope I don’t fail.”

“You won’t. Have some faith in yourself. As a parting gift, I’ll give you 10 minutes.” Sabrina said as she vanished.

“Wha…”

“Nina?” A familiar voice called out

“Wyatt?” I whispered and ran to him, hugging him with everything I had in me.

When I finished speaking, her mouth was open in shock. “You saw her again last night?”

“Yes, she was just checking in.” I said firmly.

“So, you are going to the council. Do you know what will happen there?” Kelly was starting to get worked up again.

“Yes, I am very much aware of what will happen to me. I have always mentally prepared myself for the events that will happen. Reed is ready to help get me out when the time comes. He will have to do Wyatt’s job as well now.” I said, looking at him, confirming this. He shook his head yes. “I will be home in 3 days and when I get home, I will need medical attention. The hospital will need to be fully stocked and prepared, which we already have set up.” Again, looking at Reed for confirmation, which, again, I got. “I will survive this. Don’t worry!” I will be ready for a few movie nights and relaxation till I get fully healed.”

“You sound so matter-of-fact about it. Like it is just another day for you!” Kelly said with tears in her eyes.

Sighing, “Kelly, I have known about this, and I have processed this already by myself. Believe me, I was not okay when I found out. I have shed my tears and now I am ready to do my part in bringing this guy down. We have a plan. I know what I need to do. I have Reed, Grant and many other guys on my side helping me out. The plan is in motion, and this will be over in three days.”

“I just can’t lose you too! Wyatt’s in the hospital in a coma and now my sister-in-law is willing to let herself to tortured and I can’t do anything to help!” Kelly broke down crying. Reed got up and went over to her, picked her up and placed her on his lap, letting her soak his shirt.

“We will survive this. Your parents are staying behind in their pack so no attack will happen there but Zach and everyone else, are joining us here in a few days. You are the Luna here. You need to organize their rooms, food, food for all the warriors and keep this place running smoothly while we take down this guy. Your role is just as important, if not more important, to keep up the moral of everyone. Keep the elderly and children safe.” By the time I finished my lecture, Kelly was staring straight at me. I wasn’t sure if she was going to be pissed or hug me.

Finally, she nodded. “You are right. There is no time for this pity party. I will be their Luna.”

“You are their Luna”, Reed interrupted.

“I am their Luna and I have a job I need to do.” Kelly said, getting her mind on straight.

“Good cause it is past lunch time and I am hungry!” I said, smiling. I dodged a pillow that she threw at my head.
