Chapter 158 Using Himself as Bait
But the sparks were 400 small and vanished in the blink of an eye. Henry missed his window. Just like before, the zombie failed its sneak attack and vanished back into the shadows, leaving the five of them standing there, frustrated.
“Dammit! What is this thing?”
Henry stomped his foot in frustration. He felt like he was being toyed with
Is this really just a Level 2 zombie?
Not only was it insanely fast, but it actually knew how to use hit–and–run tactics.
“This can’t go on,” Blake said, letting out a heavy breath.
Even though the street looked completely peaceful without a single zombie in sight, they knew better–a terrifying Level 2 had them in its sights.
If no one came to help, or if they couldn’t find a way out of this, they might get worn down and killed
here.
‘If it won’t come out, then we’ll make it come out,” Henry suddenly said.
His eyes darkened, flashing with a ruthless edge. “A zombie is still a zombie. No matter how fast it is, it can’t resist its instincts.”
Tim’s heart skipped a beat as he realized what Henry was thinking. “Mr. Henry, you—”
Henry had already pressed his sharp dagger against his own arm. “Everyone, stay sharp. I’m going to use my blood to bait it out. You’d better be ready to move at 110% speed.”
He was going to use himself as bait!
Travis and the others were dumbfounded.
‘Mr. Henry, you can’t do that!”
Tim grabbed his wrist, his eyes full of panic. “You know what happens when blood is in the air–it’ll drive the zombie into a frenzy! You’ll be its first target! It’s too dangerous. I won’t allow this!”
“I have to do this.”
Henry’s voice left no room for argument. “Tim, we entered Shangri–La together. Ella and Dane can already take down a Level 2 zombie on their own. But here we are—a whole group–and we can’t even catch this thing’s shadow, let alone fight it!”
“Mr. Henry…”
Tim stared into his eyes.
There was determination in the boy’s eyes. But beneath that, there was something deeper–pride

He had always been outstanding.
No matter how close they all were, watching his teammates grow at an unbelievable speed, leaving him in the dust, was hard to take.
He was genuinely happy for them. But how could a boy this proud really accept falling behind?
The words Tim wanted to say got stuck in his throat.
He took a deep breath. “I–I get what you’re thinking. But this is too dangerous. Let me do it instead—”
‘No, and there’s no need.”
Henry stepped back to dodge Tim’s hand. “I said I’m doing it, and that’s that. Don’t waste your breath. Just keep your eyes peeled for that zombie. If something goes sideways and I turn, you’re the first ones I’m cating.”
That last line eased the tension a little.
Tim knew Henry’s mind was made up. His throat bobbed, and in the end, he only said, “Alright.”
Henry tightened his grip on the dagger.
The thin, sharp blade touched his skin, sending a chill through him.
Then he pressed down and sliced.
A deep cut opened on his arm. Dark red blood immediately poured out, dripping onto the ground.
n the dead silence of the street, the sound of the blood hitting the pavement was eerily loud.
A faint smell of blood spread through the air. Everyone was on high alert. Everyone was on high alert,
heir muscles coiled and ready to snap into action at the slightest movement.
Right then, a breeze picked up, carrying the scent even further
