Ella swallowed hard and slowly stepped closer.

Robin raised her hand. Her thumb and index finger moved apart. A small, transparent screen suddenly appeared in the air between them.
Ella’s eyes widened. This looked just like the kind of floating screen you only see in sci–fi
movies.
Robin took Ella’s right hand. Then she gently pressed Ella’s index finger onto the glowing
screen.
At the same moment, a cold mechanical voice echoed through the room. “Fingerprint registered successfully.”
Ella’s heart began pounding. A wild thought rose in her mind. She almost didn’t dare believe it. It sounded too unbelievable, so she forced herself not to think about it.
But Robin spoke, confirming her guess. “From now on, you’re the housekeeper of Shangri–La. You’ll handle all the small tasks and daily work here.
“Of course, I won’t make you work for nothing,” Robin added calmly. “I can’t promise much, but at least you’ll never go hungry here.”
The surprise hit Ella like a wave.
She stared at her finger for a long moment, unable to process what had just happened.
“You don’t want the job?” Robin asked.
Ella quickly nodded. “I do! I do!”
Then she hesitated.
“But you said you only needed help with a few chores. We just met. Aren’t you trusting me a little too quickly?”
Robin waved her hand casually. “That saying–time reveals a person’s true heart‘-doesn’t work for me.”
In her previous life, she had known Noah and Zelda for years. Yet she hadn’t seen their true faces until the very end.
“So, what should I call you?” Ella asked.

Chapter 25 The New Housekeeper
“My name is Robin Neel. Call me whatever you like.”
Ella blurted out, “Then I’ll call you Ms. Neel!”
Robin looked at her silently.
“Oh!”

Ella immediately caught the hidden message. She scratched her head awkwardly. “Then Ms. Robin!”
That was acceptable.
“Suit yourself,” Robin said. “And later, remember to give Ruby a bath.”
She walked a few steps, then suddenly remembered something. Quietly, she took a small medical kit out of her storage space. “Pick any room you like,” she said. “Daily supplies are in the room at the end of the third–floor hallway. Go grab what you need.” She handed the kit to Ella. “These are for your wounds. Use whatever you need.”
Ella stared at the medical kit. It was packed with supplies. She quickly understood what Robin meant. Gratitude filled her chest. “Ms. Robin, thank you!”
Robin turned to leave. Ella hesitated for a long moment before speaking again. “Um… Ms. Robin, can I ask something?”
Robin paused. “You want to ask my permission to let the others come inside?”
Ella’s thoughts had been exposed so clearly that her cheeks turned a deep shade of red. She lowered her voice. “I know I’m asking for too much,” she said softly. “But I promise they won’t stay here forever. Once Mr. Henry gets better, they’ll leave. And if they refuse, I’ll make them go myself.
“Mr. Henry saved my life. He got hurt because of me. I can’t just ignore that.”
Robin looked at her with a faint, amused smile. “Do you realize,” she said slowly, “this villa belongs to your boss? If I let him in and he wakes up wanting the place back, what then?”
“That won’t happen,” Ella said firmly, looking straight at her. Her eyes were full of stubborn certainty. “Shangri–La belongs to you now. I’m sure Mr. Henry wouldn’t act that shamelessly.”
Robin chuckled. “Alright, alright.”
She patted Ella lightly on the shoulder. “Go bring them in.”
Ella’s eyes lit up right away.

She turned and ran outside, almost skipping with excitement. Robin watched her leave, the small smile on her lips hard to read.
In truth, even if Ella hadn’t asked, Robin had already planned to pull Dane onto her side.
