Chapter 252 Who Deserves to Lead?
He crossed his arms and looked down at them from above. “Where are the supplies?”
“David.” Domingo’s voice turned cold. “If I remember right, we agreed on three days.”
“Oh? Did we?” David wore an expression of fake surprise. “But today is the last day, and you haven’t brought back anything.

“I’m not trying to make things hard for you. But everyone in the base is watching. You came back empty- handed. Do you really think you deserve their trust?”
“David, who the hell do you think you are?!”
One of Domingo’s men rushed forward, furious. “Back when you had nothing, the boss took you in out of kindness! Now you’ve got some kind of ability, and suddenly you forget everything? You’re even trying to take over our base? I’ve never seen someone this shameless!”
“I’m talking to Domingo. Who are you to interrupt?” David’s face darkened. “And watch your mouth. What do you mean I’m trying to take your base?
“From the start, I’ve only said one thing—this base needs someone more capable to lead it. I’m thinking about the people here. Domingo wouldn’t be so selfish, would he?”
The man was shaking with anger. “Don’t you feel ashamed saying that? Our boss built this place from nothing! Maybe he’s not perfect, but he gave us all a home. He cares about every one of us!
“And you! If you think you’re so great, why don’t you build your own base? All you did was hide behind excuses, like you were doing things for everyone’s benefit while trying to steal what he built. You’ve got some nerve!”
David gave a cold, expressionless smile. “Stubborn to the end.
“Domingo, if you really care about the people here, then step down as commander. Don’t worry–I won’t kick you out. You’re strong. You’d make a great fighter under me. The best in the base.”
Domingo lifted his head and looked up. He took a deep breath and spoke in a steady voice. “David, I know I’m not good at managing people. I admit that. But I’m sorry–I disagree. I won’t support what you’re doing. And I will never hand over the base I built to you.
“When I started this place, it was to give survivors somewhere safe to go. I may not be the smartest guy, but I’ll do everything I can to protect everyone here.
“Maybe you think that’s stupid. Fine. I’m okay with being stupid. But your way? It doesn’t work for me.
“There are still a few hours left before our deadline. Open the gate. I won’t say it again.”
David’s face twitched. Domingo’s firm attitude clearly pissed him off. Then he suddenly laughed. “Wow, Domingo. Such a kind heart. But you’d better think this through. The apocalypse has no place for useless people. Be careful; you might end up unable to even save yourself.”
Domingo just looked at him, silent.

David snorted and walked away.
“Move already!”
Domingo’s man snapped at the guards at the gate.
The pair exchanged a glance, then quickly opened it.
At last, the group entered the base.
It looked like an urban village from before everything collapsed–unfinished, messy, barely held together.
“Sorry about that,” Domingo said quietly.
Robin asked casually, “What’s his deal? Sounds like you two have different ideas about how to run things.”
