* Finished

Someone choked back a sob. It was like a switch finally flipped. The sound spread, and soon quiet crying filled the air.

“We made it.”

Isaac took a deep breath. His eyes turned red. “We… we actually survived…”

There were so many zombies.

Before this, they wouldn’t even imagine it.

But this time, more than 50 people had fought the battle.

Only eight died. The rest were badly hurt.

Some had been on the edge of death. But Lizzie and Robin pulled them back from the edge with their potions.

“We won! We won!!”

Someone shouted. Everyone broke at once.

Cheers. Screams. Tears.

All mixed together as they let it out.

They hugged each other and cried. It all felt like a dream.

“Ms. Neel! Ms. Neel!”

A middle-aged woman rushed forward with her child in her arms. She dropped to her knees in front of Robin, tears streaming down her face. “Thank you so much! If you weren’t here today, none of us would have made it!

“From now on, you’re our savior. We’ll repay your kindness no matter what it takes!”

“No need for that.” Robin stepped aside, avoiding the full bow. “I said from the start, I would join this base. This base is mine; protecting it is only right.”

“Yes, yes, yes-wait…”

That middle-aged woman nodded fast, then suddenly froze.

“The base is

yours?”

Something about that sounded off.

She looked at Robin, unsure. For a moment, she wondered if she had misunderstood.

In the end, she pushed the strange feeling away. None of that mattered.

All she needed to know was that Robin had saved them.

“Ms. Neel!”

A few people who had been firmly on David’s side stepped forward. They looked awkward but hopeful. “Ms. Neel, we didn’t realize how strong you were. We judged wrong. Now we see it clearly. There’s always someone stronger out there. Compared to real power, we’re nothing. So, Ms. Neel, we want to follow you!”

“You traitors!”

David glared at them.

“Are we in the wrong?” one of the traitors asked. “We survived because of Ms. Neel. You always said we should follow the strong if we want to become strong. Why don’t you come with us and follow her too?”

David’s face went dark with anger. “So this is how you betray me?”

“How is this betrayal?” another snapped. “Everyone has the right to pursue a stronger leader. You said that yourself.

“When you asked us to leave Domingo and follow you, you didn’t think it was wrong. So why is it wrong now?

“You saw it too. Ms. Neel is stronger than you. What we’re doing is normal.”

David never expected his own words to come back like this. He took a deep breath. His face turned dark. “She just said she’s joining our base. That means we’re all on the same side now. If we’re one group, then no one should keep good things to themselves.”

Robin looked at him with interest.

She wanted to see what shameless thing he’d say next.

As expected, greed flashed in David’s eyes. “A lot of people got stronger today,” he said. “If I’m not wrong, it’s because of some special potion she used. This potion can boost our strength.
