Chapter 274 Bloodshed Among Allies

“A celebration party?”

“Yeah. We only made it out alive this time because of your help. But it’s still something worth celebrating, right?”

A girl around twelve or thirteen walked over with a bright smile. “The Commander asked me to invite you. Our parties are really fun. Every time we bring back enough supplies from outside, we throw one. It’s our favorite thing to do.”

After the apocalypse, there was no water, no power, no internet. Phones were useless. With no modern entertainment left, people slowly went back to simple, old-fashioned ways of having fun.

So every time a supply run ended well, the celebration party became the one thing all the kids in the base looked forward to.

“Since Commander Day invited us personally, of course we’ll come,” Robin said, gently patting the girl’s head.

The girl’s eyes lit up the moment she heard that. “Yay!”

She turned and skipped away to find Domingo.

At the same time, outside the base.

David walked in front, his face dark and tense. Behind him, people kept muttering. Their complaints drifted into his ears.

“Told you-don’t get too full of yourself. Old sayings exist for a reason. This guy really thought he was someone important. Always talking about the strong and the weak. Now a real powerhouse shows up, and he doesn’t even dare say a word.”

“Exactly! What were we thinking back then? We really believed he was something special.”

“I seriously regret it now. I hesitated at the time, but I still believed him. If I just thought it through, I wouldn’t be in this mess.”

“Look at him. Wasn’t he so talkative before? Now he’s quiet. Got kicked out of the base and dragged us down with him.”

At first, they kept their voices low. But when they saw David didn’t try to stop them, they slowly grew bolder.

By the end, their words carried clear provocation. They were saying it on purpose, loud enou for David to hear.

Otto walked alone at the back. He stayed silent the whole time, not speaking to anyone.

“Hey, are we really going to keep following him?” someone suddenly asked.

That question caught everyone’s attention.

“Yeah. What’s the point of sticking with him? We’re already out of the base. We might as well

our own way.”

“He’s the one who got us into this mess.”

“Exactly. It’s all his fault. If it weren’t for him—”

The man didn’t get to finish.

David finally snapped.

He spun

around and, in one swift motion, slashed the man’s throat.

“Done talking?”

A thin line of blood appeared across the man’s neck. He grabbed at it in panic, but the blood kept pouring out between his fingers.

He… was going to die?

He had survived the fight with 800 zombies.

And now, he was dying under another human’s blade.

David met the terrified eyes around him and slowly let out a cruel smile. “Go on. Weren’t you all so talkative just now?”

No one expected him to suddenly kill someone. Everyone froze in shock.

A bunch of backstabbers. All of you are fence sitters!” David snarled. “Useless trash!”

phed his sword again. Before anyone could react, he lunged at another person.

His chest burned with anger.

At the base, Robin had humiliated him. Because of the gap in strength, he had no choice but to

swallow it.

But now even these people dared to step all over him. How could he stand that?

“David, we’re on the same side!” The man cried, his face pale with fear as David came at him. “How can you kill your own people?!”

“Kill?” David let out a harsh laugh. “So what? Useless people like you-what’s the point of keeping you alive?”
