Chapter 29 A Room Full of Zombies
Finished
Robin had always had a strange feeling about the disaster. It seemed like the catastrophe had been strangely kind to every species on Earth–except humans.
For example, the zombie virus didn’t affect animals. After the outbreak, animals and plants quickly began to grow more resilient. Some only changed a little, while others became far more powerful.
Humans had spent millions of years evolving before finally becoming the rulers of the planet. But in Robin’s previous life, one year after the apocalypse began, that ruler had already been pushed off the throne.
Power grids failed. The internet collapsed. Technology fell apart piece by piece. Under the pressure of zombies and the rapidly growing strength of animals and plants, the space where humans could survive became smaller and smaller.
It was almost as if some invisible force in the darkness was slowly taking control of the Earth away from humans.
Of course, the situation was only Robin’s guess. In her previous life, no one had discovered the true cause of the apocalypse before she died.
Ella didn’t know why Robin sounded so certain, but she still nodded. “Oh, okay.”
Robin looked around and carefully checked the area. “Let’s keep searching. We’re looking for that white tiger.”
“Got it,” Dane said.
The three of them split up and searched. After only a short while, Dane suddenly shouted. “Who’s there?!”
He responded swiftly. The moment he noticed something strange, sparks of electricity burst from his palm. The bolt shot forward and struck the zombie’s head with perfect aim.
The zombie’s body turned black and burned from the electricity. It froze for a second, then collapsed to the ground with a heavy thud.
But Dane didn’t look relieved at all.
Instead, his face turned grim as he stared at the iron door in front of him.
The electric strike had pierced through the zombie and accidentally destroyed the lock on the door behind it. With a slow creaking sound, the door began to open.

Light from outside spilled into the room. Inside, shadowy figures started to move. One by one, they slowly turned toward the doorway.
Dane sucked in a sharp breath. His scalp prickled with fear.
Zombies!
The entire room was packed full of them.
The inside of the iron door had been scratched and clawed until it was almost destroyed. Every deep scratch was filled with dried chunks of flesh and dark, hardened blood.
No one knew who had trapped these zombies here. But they had clearly been starving for a long time. After a brief moment of confusion, they suddenly went wild. With terrifying speed and hunger, the zombies rushed out of the room.
“RAAAGH!”
The hoarse roar exploded like thunder. Dane’s face turned pale.
The narrow iron door clearly couldn’t handle that many zombies pushing out at once. Dozens of them were jammed in the doorway, their bodies squeezed together so tightly that the doorframe was starting to bend.
The rotten flesh on their bodies had long since lost its strength. Under the crushing pressure, their bodies scraped and tore against each other. Yellow–brown fluid leaked from their damaged muscles, making wet, squishy sounds.
Even so, their cloudy gray eyes stayed locked on Dane. Their dry, rotting arms stretched out through the doorway, waving slowly in the air.
Food! Food!
Fresh blood. Fresh meat!
Dane stood frozen for several seconds before his brain finally caught up with what he was seeing. Luckily, the pileup of zombies in the doorway bought him a few seconds.
“Run! Run! Zombies!!!”
He had already seen plenty of zombies on the road, but nothing like this.
His legs felt stiff with fear, but he forced them to move. Dane shouted as he ran for his life.
He had barely taken two steps when a loud crash exploded behind him. With so many bodies pushing forward, the doorframe finally gave up. It ripped straight out of the wall and collapsed.

Without the frame blocking them, the zombies burst out of the room like water from a broken pipe. There were at least 30 or 40 of them.
“Holy crap!” Robin’s mind went blank when she saw it.
Ella’s face turned pale with shock. “Are you serious?! What did you do, sniff out their nest like a hound?!”
Dane looked miserable.
