Chapter 337 The Crucial Distance

It was what stood between life and death.

Are weare we really going to be wiped out herea woman whispered.

Finished

Her mental strength had been completely drained, and her body swayed before she finally crumpled softly to the floor.

Her consciousness kept sinking deeper and deeper. Her eyelids felt so impossibly heavy….

Her heart was pounding so violently, and yet she felt like she was about to die.

At the very moment everyone resigned themselves to their fate, the temperature around them plummeted without warning, as if half the warmth had been ripped from their bodies all at once!

An enormous serpent materialized out of thin air before every pair of eyes in that granary, its entire form sculpted from pure, blazing iceblue elemental energy!

The serpent measured 30 feet tall.

The fact that it was forged entirely from concentrated ice elemental energy made it achingly clear just how devastatingly powerful its creator truly was.

Its massive tail swept outward in a wide arc, and a wave of piercing cold invaded every pore on every person’s body. The dense, swarming mass of giant spiders was sent hurtling through the air in one enormous sweep, and a wide, clear gap tore open in the horde.

The spidershardened exoskeletons finally cracked and fractured under the crushing force of that serpentine tail, exposing the soft, vulnerable flesh beneath.

Some of the weaker spiders were ground down into nothing but oozing puddles of green slime, and the stench that rose from them was disgustingly nauseating.

A chorus of hollow, seething hisses filled the air around them

The giant spiders were furious, but the suffocating pressure radiating from the ice serpent had stripped away all the brazen arrogance they’d carried before.

Seizing that precious opening, everyone finally found a moment to breathe. They pulled themselves together, and they stumbled and lurched desperately toward the exit!

Dane! You finally stepped in!Donald exclaimed, his face lighting up with pure, unbridled elation.

He turned toward Dane’s direction with a joyful look, and his expression froze. Dane wasn’t using his ability at all!

Buthow is that possible?

Donald’s pupils contracted sharply. He shifted his gaze in a slow, mechanical sweep, and at last, beneath the ice serpent, he found a woman.

Chapter 334 The Crucial Distance

Fuished

Unlike every disheveled, battered soul around her, her clothes were immaculate, and not a single strand of her hair was out of place.

Her cold, indifferent gase swept across the group. Then she raised her hand in one fluid motion and brought her palm crashing down hard against the floor.

A shockwave erupted outward from the point of impact, spreading rapidly in every direction. Pale blue light rippled and coiled across the ground, racing toward the most densely packed clusters of spiders, and then, in the very next instant

The ground exploded with a deep, thunderous roar.

Countless massive, razorsharp ice spikes burst up from the earth, and before those giant spiders could even register what was happening, those spikes drove upward with blinding speed and punched clean through their softest, most vulnerable abdomens.

As everyone watched in stunned, wideeyed horror, the spiders writhed in agony in the air, all eight legs clawing helplessly at nothing. Green slime dripped steadily down the thick ice columns, but not a single one of them could break free.

The sight stirred, in some deeply unfortunate corner of a few people’s minds, an untimely image of deep- fried spider skewers from some faroff culinary hotspot.

Ugh

Ella let out a dry, involuntary retch. Every single time Robin makes a move, it reminds me of something revolting!

Dane had clearly thought the same thing.

Their seamless friendship clearly predated the apocalypse, because when it came to finding things thoroughly disgusting, their minds operated in perfect sync.

Robin raised an eyebrow at the stunned crowd standing rooted to the spot. “Well? What are you waiting for?

Everyone snapped back to their senses at once, Flashlight beams scattered wildly across the walls, and the exit felt like it was right there within reach!

Donald ran, but the scene he’d just witnessed kept flashing before his eyes in vivid, relentless detail.

Robin’s single, overwhelming strike had reversed the entire situation in what felt like a heartbeat, and her sheer power had left every single person there speechless.

And beyond that, everything finally clicked into place. It explained why, for all this time, Dane had used only his lightning ability and never once reached for his ice ability.

It also explained why, before they’d even set out, when he’d been dismissing Robin so openly and so thoroughly, the expressions on those people’s faces had been so strangely unreadable.

She wasn’t Dane’s woman at all.

She was Dane’s boss.
