End Times. Strwiving with My Beastly Army
Chapter 339 Skitter
The sound seemed to be coming from inside that granary.
Finished
Everyone held their breath without thinking, their eyes locked in that direction in rigid, collective dread.
Then a single furry leg stepped out from inside the granary, slow and deliberate,
The super giant spider had come out.
At the sight of it, every last person’s breath seemed to stop entirely.
That reckless little kid! What on earth is she doing?
Is she trying to get everyone killed?
They desperately wanted to intervene, but not one of them dared step forward, terrified of drawing the spider’s attention their way.
Vivian, for her part, had absolutely no idea about the collective breakdown unfolding behind her. The moment the super–giant spider finally showed itself, a delighted laugh spilled out of her. “There you are, sweetie! You finally came out!”
The super–giant spider looked, against all reason, as though it was a little shy.
It wasn’t making any moves, so Vivian made them herself.
She took a few steps forward and crouched down. “Come here! Come on over! You’re so adorable. Can I touch you?”
The super giant spider grew even shyer, and there was absolutely nothing left of the ruthless, slaughtering terror it had been inside that granary.
It ambled out at its own unhurried pace, and Vivian’s eyes lit up with pure wonder. Behind her, the survivors from every base seemed to have stopped breathing all at once.
Ella sucked in a sharp breath. “Robin, is that really her? I can’t believe it.”
“What did you think got us all out of there in one piece tonight?” Robin replied, watching the scene with a lazy, unbothered air.
Ella blinked. “What do you mean?”
“You clearly weren’t paying attention.”
Faced with Robin’s teasing, Ella felt a flicker of sheepishness. “Are you serious? I had zero brain cells left for observation! When that spider showed up, my heart completely stopped!”
“When that spider came down, I was startled too,” Robin said, the corners of her mouth curving up. ‘But I heard a mouse.
“At the granary entrance, there was a very small mouse. We all saw it earlier. Every other mouse in this

place had mulated into something massive, but that one was completely normal–sized. Normal in a way that wasn’t normal at all. So Vivian was the first thing that came to mind.
“She’d slipped out earlfes chasing the mice around this place, but when I spotted that one normal mouse, I figured she’d already gotten control of the super giant spider and sent it to signal us.
“Turns out I was right.”
Ella let out a breath of sheer, reverent disbelief. Ms. Vivian is on another level!”
And her taste in things was something else entirely.
A spider that made most people’s skin crawl just from a single glance, and Vivian was describing it with words like “adorable” and “shy.”
Then again, Ella thought, Ms. Vivian’s never exactly been a normal person to begin with.
She had no choice but to accept that.
Meanwhile, on the other side of it all, Vivian had gotten remarkably close to the super–giant spider.
Every barbed spike along its furry legs had softened and flattened into docility, and its eight eyes, once cold and unsettling, now gazed at Vivian with a blank, guileless light, guileless in the way of something very large and very simple.
Vivian touched one of its legs with careful, reverent fingers, and her face broke into a wide, beaming grin. “So fluffy! I love fluffy things!”
The super giant spider hadn’t attacked her. That alone had already sent a massive shock rippling through every person watching.
Then Vivian’s voice drifted over on the night breeze, carrying that slightly unhinged delight with it, and every last one of them turned to stone on the spot.
Fluffy animals were, objectively, adorable.
But that word had absolutely no business being used to describe that spider.
Several of the women in the group swallowed hard, experiencing, for the very first time in their lives, a deep and visceral aversion to the word “fluffy.”
“What is wrong with that girl?” Rolf exclaimed, his expression caught somewhere between shock and disbelief.
Misled entirely by Donald, he’d spent this whole time convinced that Dane was the most powerful figure, in that group. He never could have imagined that the real powerhouse was someone else entirely, and someone they’d written off from the very start, no less: Robin.
What was even more staggering was that every single person in that group was frightening in their own right.
They hadn’t spotted Vivian during the granary run, but then, even if they had, no one would’ve given her a second thought. Vivian’s appearance was the kind that deceived at every glance, the kind that would’ve had
