Chapter 50 Old Times
“I guess you’re right.”
A ghostlike figure slipped silently to his side.
“Who’s there?!”
The short man nearly jumped out of his skin, lost his footing, and crashed straight off the tree.

Ignoring the pain, he stared in horror at the woman who’d appeared from nowhere. “When–how did you get here?!”
Robin grinned. “Unfortunately for you, I arrived just as you were deciding to leave. How rude of me not to greet my guests properly.”
“N–no, no-”
The man’s leg was clearly injured from the fall. His eyes were locked on Robin, body inching backward. “This was all a misunderstanding. We were just passing through. We didn’t mean anything by it. If you let us go today, I swear we’ll never come near this place again.”
“Is that so?”
Robin smiled. Then, her arm whipped forward.
The shovel left her hand like a thrown blade.
The man behind her–the one who’d been creeping up with a steel pipe–didn’t even get to make a sound before the shovel’s edge sheared his entire arm clean off.
He blacked out from the pain instantly.
Seeing how ruthless her strike was, the short man turned pale. “W–we really didn’t mean it! Ma’am, please- it was him! He told us there were supplies in the zoo, and maybe a safe house! He’s the one who brought us here!”
He was pointing at the man Robin had released the day before. The man in question collapsed where he sat, voice shaking. “I only mentioned that Shangri–La was here! He’s the one who wanted to attack! The zombie plan was his idea! I had nothing to do with it!”
Robin’s smile didn’t waver. “So, letting you go yesterday was the worst decision I’ve ever made.”
She yanked the blood–soaked shovel from the ground and walked toward him.
The man saw death coming and screamed. “Robin! Open your eyes and look at me! I’m your direct supervisor! You wouldn’t actually kill me! Murder is a crime! The government will restore order eventually
-do you really want a murder charge on your record?!”
“Supervisor?”
Robin frowned, suddenly recognizing him. He really did look familiar.

He was the one who’d given her the villa owner’s contact information before the apocalypse.
That was how he knew to come here.
Robin’s gaze darkened.
Seeing her hesitate, the man exhaled. “Remember me now?”
Robin’s mouth curved. “Mr. Robinson.”

Relief flooded his face, and he actually slipped into his old authoritative tone. “Robin, you’re being incredibly selfish. Shangri–La is massive–it could house 100 people easily. And here you are, a handful of people hogging all this space. Don’t you think that’s excessive?”
Hearing this blunt criticism, Robin was amused. “How am I being excessive?”
Freddy Robinson adjusted his cuffs
