Robin reached into her pocket, or at least it looked like she did. In reality, she pulled out a handful of chocolate from her storage space.
The moment the chocolate appeared, Jerome and the others froze, eyes wide.
Chocolate! It was chocolate!
Before the apocalypse, it was nothing special. Just an everyday snack. But after everything fell apart, they hadn’t tasted it in a very long time.
“Thank you.”
Dylan smiled politely and reached out to take it.
But just as his fingers were about to touch the chocolate, Robin suddenly pulled her hand back.
Dylan raised an eyebrow. “Robin, what’s that supposed to mean?”
“What do you think it means?”
Robin spoke slowly, turning the chocolate in her hand. “I just realized you probably don’t really need food from me, do you?”
Dylan’s expression didn’t change. “Why would you say that?”
Robin glanced at him, a faint smile on her lips. “When I was in the supermarket earlier, I noticed something. There was still a lot of stuff left–but I could tell some of it had already been taken.”
She paused, the s

Her smile turned teasing. “Is Ronald lying? Or is someone doing things behind his back without him knowing?”
She tilted

her head slightly. “After thinking about it, only one person fits. Someone who can move in and

Dylan’s smile didn’t fade. “You’re really sharp, Robin. But I’m curious, how do you know so me?”
“You don’t need to worry about that.”

Robin finally placed the chocolate in his hand. “You just need to know this–if you come with me, I won’t treat you badly.”
Dylan let out small, helpless laugh. “You sound like some spoiled rich kid from before the apocalypse.”
“Then you’d better behave.”

Robin smiled, then turned to Ella. “Take some stuff out.” Ella quickly pulled out a big pack of hot dogs and a few bottles of water from her bag.
Robin didn’t want to reveal her storage ability too early, so she still carried some supplies as cover.
Seeing how generous she was, the people who had hesitated earlier and chose to go to the military base suddenly regretted it.
“I regret it, Robin! I want to follow you now. Is that okay?”
“As long as you give me food, I’ll take your test right now!”
“Me too! I’m in!”
“Robin, I’m really useful! Before all this, I was a certified top–level chef. If you take me in, I can cook/ different meals for you every day!”
“Get out of my way! What does she need a chef for? Robin, I used to train in kickboxing. I can fight!”
“Kickboxing? That’s nothing but flashy moves. It’s useless in a real fight!”
Very quickly, the group broke into loud arguing. Robin rubbed her aching forehead and snapped, “Enough! All of you, be quiet!”
The noise died down at once. “I already said this–there’s only one chance. I only take people who are loyal from the start. You’re changing your minds now because you see an advantage. Sorry, I don’t need that.”
She glanced at them, her tone flat. “Redwood Military Base is still a good option for you. I’ve done what I
can.”
With that, she turned and started to leave with the others.
“Wait!”
A woman’s voice suddenly called out from behind.
Robin stoppe
and looked back.
It was the same woman who had been giving Ronald a massage earlier.
Robin’s want?”

The woman bit her lip, a little nervous. “My name is Nerissa Birch. You’re really strong. Do you think we’ll meet again someday?”
Robin almost stumbled.
She looked up sharply, disbelief in her eyes. “Say that again. What did you say your name was?”
