He had shouldered all the responsibility, drawing every ounce of the internet's vicious crossfire directly onto himself.
"He's a grown man, he's supposed to take responsibility for his actions! Are you really swooning over the bare minimum?" Mrs. Greenwood thoroughly disapproved of her daughter throwing away her pride to chase a man. "There are plenty of good men in the world."
Isla snatched her phone back. "Yes, there are plenty of men, but there is only one Sebastian!"
With that, she bolted out the door.
"Where are you going?! You're going to him, aren't you? Look at me—"
Before Mrs. Greenwood could finish, Isla was already gone.
She was, indeed, going to see Sebastian.
She arrived at his corporate office, but he was in a meeting, so she made herself comfortable in his private office to wait.
When Sebastian finally walked in, he found her sitting in his executive chair. He instantly flared up. "Who let you in?"
Isla didn't say a word. She sprang out of the chair, launched herself at him, and wrapped her arms tight around his waist.
Sebastian threw his hands in the air. "Have you lost your mind?!"
"Thank you," Isla whispered.
"For what?" Sebastian pried her off of him. "Go home. I'm swamped."
"I know you're always mean to me on the outside, but deep down, you still care about me." Isla waved her phone at him.
Sebastian knew exactly what she was talking about. He muttered darkly, "You're wrong. I'm mean to you on the outside, and I'm mean to you on the inside."
Isla ignored his grumbling. She leaned over his desk, resting her weight on her hands, and beamed at him. "I have to admit, you actually look like a CEO in that suit."
"Get the hell out of here," Sebastian snapped, thoroughly annoyed.
"Do you really want me to leave?" Isla teased. "I only came here because of someone else."
