But Ann was just a child. How could she… wait. Had Ann been taken by someone, and that person didn’t want her to keep searching?
Who? Ashton?
No, if it were Ashton, they would have been discovered long ago!
Urgency and anxiety made it impossible for her to calm down. She bit her lower lip so hard she tasted blood.
“Are there any other options?”
“Please leave, customer.”
It was an indirect order to leave.
She wanted to press, but her peripheral vision caught a team of men heading this immediately turned and left.
Not long after she left, the tavern door was pushed open again.

The men were Ashton’s subordinates. They were looking for Tatiana. Only this time, their orders were to ensure she was alive; she absolutely could not die, or their entire base would pay the price.
And they had, once again, missed each other.
Tatiana hurried back to their hiding place with the food. When she met Hubert’s smiling face, she suddenly didn’t know how to face him.
“Mommy, is there news about Ann?”
For a moment, she didn’t know how to face Hubert’s anticipation.
It was now the fourth day since Ann’s disappearance. Her forced composure was on the verge of collapsing.
“Mommy?”
“We… have to wait a little longer. For news.”
Hubert didn’t suspect a thing, saying optimistically, “Ann is definitely okay! She’s so smart!”

She turned her head away, forcing back the sting in her nose.
My Ann, where are you?
“Eee–ya, cee–ya.”
The baby in Hubert’s arms cooed.
“Mommy, what’s Andy saying?”
Her gaze fell on the baby. She reached out and took him. “Andy, what’s wrong?”

The little guy just smiled, making an indistinct sound, and tried to grab the collar of her shirt.
She lowered her head to let him.
The baby smiled even more happily, gurgling.
Tatiana’s gloomy mood eased slightly. She calmed down again. Since the tavern wouldn’t take the job, she would find another way.
“Eee–ya.”
The baby smiled at a rotten newspaper on the floor.
Hubert picked up the paper and read the words on it.
“Hindersville Consulate attacked…”
Tatiana’s head snapped up. She and Hubert looked at each other and said at the same time: “The consulate!”
If the unofficial method wouldn’t work, she would find an official one!
Inside a beautiful little house.
A black–haired woman waited anxiously.
Suddenly, her phone rang.
She answered immediately, only to hear one sentence from the other end: “Madam, we have a successful match.”
The woman covered her mouth, her eyes shining with emotional tears. “That’s wonderful, wonderful… Yorian can be saved…”

The person on the phone seemed to say something else. Her expression changed, and a vicious. glint flashed in her eyes. “Find her? It’s impossible for her to be found!”
After hanging up, the woman pushed open the room door, her vicious expression replaced with a gentle one, radiating motherly love.
“You’re awake?”
A little girl of about five or six was lying in the bed. She was clearly terminally ill. Her hair had all fallen out, and she wore a hat. She was very thin, her skin a sickly white.
“Mommy…”
“Mommy’s here. What’s wrong, my treasure? Did you have a nightmare?”
“Mm. I dreamed that Mommy disappeared.”
“Silly child, how could I disappear? I’m right here.”
“Mommy, I feel sick.”
“Shh, you won’t feel sick for long.”
The woman coaxed the child, her mind already made up. No one’s life was more important than Yorian’s!
After lulling Yorian to sleep, the woman went outside and made another call. This time, her tone was much better. “Thank you for the tip. I will do what I promised. Don’t worry.”
The call ended. A long–absent smile appeared on the woman’s face.
“Can’t find her?”
