“You said you’re a doctor, right? You must cure my mom! Or else I’ll report you!”
Finished
When Hubert heard this, he got angry and clenched his fists, scolding back in his childish voice: “My mommy helped you! You’re too mean!”
“I just want my mom to live!”
Tatiana couldn’t understand, but she pulled back Hubert, who wanted to argue. “Shh, don’t be angry. What did he say?”
Hubert replied huffily: “He’s threatening us! He said if you don’t cure his mom, he’ll report us! Mommy, he’s so mean! We shouldn’t have saved him!”
Tatiana didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Don’t be angry. He’s just worried about his mother.”
“Well, I’m worried about my mommy!”
“Mm, my Hubert is the best.”
Hubert reluctantly stopped being angry.
“You tell him, it’s hard for her to get better without medicine, but I have a way to try. No guarantees.”
After Hubert translated, the boy calmed down and said with red eyes, “Please save my mom.”
Tatiana glanced at the boy and sighed softly.
She had run into him while buying food. He was stealing and had been beaten by the shop owner, half–dead, almost beaten to death.
She stepped in, paid the money, and brought him back, learning his name was Norn and that he was only stealing to feed his sick mother.
She thought of Hubert and Andy, exposed to the elements, and finally decided to take a risk, revealing she was a doctor who could help, which is how she ended up at Norn’s home.
In exchange, Norn gave her and the two children shelter.
She needed a place to rest and regroup, and then go to the consulate.
So she needed a local to gather information.

“Let’s eat first.”
Finished
Hubert immediately distributed the food and expertly began to prepare formula for the baby.
These past few days had turned Hubert into a little nanny, taking care of Andy.
Tatiana glanced at Norn, who was huddled in the corner. She nudged Hubert. The latter reluctantly broke off a piece of bread and handed it over. “Here. My mommy said this is for you.”
Norn was proud and shook his head. “I won’t eat. Our deal was only for you to save my mom.”
“If you don’t eat, you’ll starve!”
“I’m not hungry…
Gurgle.
His stomach betrayed him.
Norn’s face flushed red, and he looked away,
embarrassed.
Hubert threatened, “Hurry up and eat! Or we won’t save your mom!”
Only then did Norn take the bread and gobble it down.
Tatiana first used physical cooling, wiping the woman’s body down and placing a wet towel on her forehead. Then she stood up. “You, come with me. We’re going to find medicine.”
Norn immediately stood up and followed her.
Since she needed a translator, and little Andy was sleeping peacefully, Tatiana decided to leave the baby in the house and take only Hubert.
“Where is the place you buy medicine?”
“It’s in the hands of the gangs. They have a stall, but the medicine there is very expensive! We can’t afford it at all!”
The boy clenched his fists in anger, but he was helpless.
“They have guns. You can’t rob them.”
“Who said anything about robbing?”
Norn looked at her in surprise, as she pulled a piece of gold from her pocket.

It was the piece the bartender had returned to her.
“Go buy these specific medicines. Do as I say.”

Norn listened, stared blankly at Tatiana, then suddenly knelt and kowtowed several times. He took the gold, hid it in his pocket, and sprinted toward the nearest stall.
Tatiana held Hubert, hiding in the shadows, wary of her surroundings.
And she discovered with alarm that there were even more thugs on the street today than yesterday.
They couldn’t stay here any longer.
They had to leave as soon as possible.
A moment later, Norn ran back, panting, holding several medicine boxes. “They didn’t have some of them.”
She had anticipated this. This godforsaken place was short on resources, especially medicine. The specific drugs available on the market were likely nonexistent.
“Let’s go back first.”
They hurried back.
At that moment, a car sped down the street. The person in the back seat saw a familiar figure flash by. His pupils contracted. “Stop the car!”
Jasper jumped out of the car and ran in that direction, his heart pounding like thunder. He instinctively reached out, wanting to grab that familiar back.
