It was impossible to tell if she was drunk or if he had been seduced into a state of intoxication himself.

Tatiana leaned into his embrace, her eyes rimmed with red and her lips glistening like a dew- kissed rose, vibrant and ready to be plucked. She let out a soft huff of dissatisfaction, but before she could speak, he pressed a finger against her lips.

Tatiana, not now. At least, not here.

He wanted herwanted her so desperately that every drop of blood in his veins ached for her. He wanted to crush her into his very soul. Simply stopping took every ounce of sanity he possessed.

The more he cherished her, the more he feared losing her. He didn’t want to ruin the fragile new beginning they had finally achieved. He was terrified that she would wake up sober and full of regret. Too many anxieties had turned into a fear of gain and loss; a moment of primal satisfaction wasn’t worth the risk of losing her forever.

He held her tightly, his breathing heavy and ragged. Tatiana, you’re going to be the death of me.

Eventually, Tatiana truly succumbed to the alcohol. She fell asleep in his arms, her face flushed and her expression as docile as a kitten’s.

Jasper sat there for a long time before finally taking off his jacket and draping it over her. He swept her up into his arms, carrying her bridalstyle. Most of her face and body were shielded by his jacket, leaving only her long, shapely legs visible, swaying slightly with his stride.

She wasn’t wearing shoes. Her champagnecolored heels were hooked casually between two of Jasper’s fingers. He carried her out of the estate with effortless composure.

The driver was already waiting outside. Upon seeing them, a flash of surprise crossed his face, but he quickly suppressed it and lowered his head. He knew better than to look at what shouldn’t be seen.

The driver opened the car door. Where to, Boss?

Jasper placed Tatiana inside with a gentle touch, as if handling a priceless, fragile treasure. He had originally intended to take her back to Sunny Estate, but seeing how heavily intoxicated she was, he figured she wouldn’t want the children to see her like this.

Westlake,” he commanded.

Westlake was his current residence, a luxurious manor not far from Sunny Estate. It was a

costly cultural heritage site originally named Lishang Courtyard. He had found the name ominous and changed it to Westlake. He liked the name. It felt right.

The car drove toward Westlake, the driver keeping the pace steady. Tatiana never woke, leaning against him in a deep, peaceful slumber. He carried her out of the car and straight into his primary bedroom.

On the way, she let out troubled whimpers and kept trying to shrug off her clothes. He had to pin her hands down over and over again.

I’m hot!

The drinks she’d had included highproof spirits that burned in her chest and skin. It was natural to feel hot. He felt hot too, though not because of the alcohol. She was a fire that burned hotter than any drink.

Taking a deep breath and suppressing his stray thoughts, he changed her clothes. That simple act alone left him drenched in sweat. To make matters worse, she wouldn’t stay still. Her hands were constantly moving, and with them being so close, it was all too easy to touch things he shouldn’t.

Unable to take it anymore, he tugged off his tie and used it to bind her restless hands above her head. Finally, she was quiet.

She blinked her eyes open, misty and tearful, her voice full of grievance. Why are you tying me up?

Because you’re toying with me.” He leaned down, hovering over her, his breath scorching and his throat tight. You’re going to play me to death.

As soon as the words left his mouth, he quickly stripped her and pulled a clean set of loungewear onto her. He had always kept clothes in her size here just for the sake of the memory; he hadn’t expected to actually use them.

By the time she was changed, he was panting with exertion. He looked down and saw she had fallen back asleep. In her slumber, the troublesome provocateur had vanished, replaced by a quiet, lovely girl. Her dark lashes fluttered with her breath, and her glistening lips were curved slightly upward as if she were having a beautiful dream. A soft pink glow still lingered on her porcelain skin.

She was asleep, peaceful and unaware of the sheer torture she had put him through. Jasper practically gritted his teeth, muttering to himself, Tatiana, you did this on purpose.”

Since he couldn’t do anything else, he headed to the bathroom in a state of disheveled frustration. When the sound of the shower started, the woman who was supposed to be unconscious opened her eyes. She glanced toward the bathroom with a faint, knowing smile before closing her eyes again and drifting off for real. Inside, the roar of the water muffled the
