Chapter 507 The Mark
“So,” she muttered, “did it work or not?”

Norman looked at her. Her eyes were bright, her face was flushed, and that black silk dress didn’t leave much to the imagination. Especially when she leaned in like that.
His throat tightened. “Yeah. You win.”
Tammy felt a surge of smug satisfaction. Half her plan was in motion. At this point, she didn’t even care about the food anymore. She had a different appetite.
But just as she was figuring out how to get him to a hotel, he spoke up.
“I’ll walk you back after this. Don’t wait up for me tonight. Just get some sleep.”
His words hit her like a freezing downpour, drowning out her simmering desire in an instant.
“Where are you going?”
“Training at the gym.”
Her temper flared, then cooled. She knew how it worked. The gym ran private sessions to sharpen the fighters before big matches. It was a survival thing. At this level, nobody wanted to end up in a body bag.
She wasn’t happy about it, but she didn’t push. “Fine. Just don’t get hurt.”
He noticed she was pissed. He reached over and rubbed the top of her head, his voice dropping an octave. “I’ll get back as early as I can.”
Tammy just gave him a moody grunt.
After dinner, he walked her back. She didn’t bother hiding her disappointment; it was written all over her face. Seeing her like that made his resolve slip. If he didn’t force himself to stay focused, he would have blown off the party right then.
Just wait. Once I settle this, I’m all yours.
As they got close to the place, he grabbed her wrist. Before she could react, he hauled her toward him. Her back hit the wall, and before she could blink, his shadow was over her and his mouth was on hers.
“Mmh!”
Her eyes went wide, staring at him from inches away. She looked completely caught off guard. He liked that. He wrapped one arm around her waist and used his other hand to cover her eyes.
He felt her eyelashes fluttering against his palm like a nervous bird.
He deepened the kiss, cutting off her breath. He was taking over, marking his territory. Tammy went soft in his arms. She started to lean into it, her hands moving up to lock behind his neck as she pulled him closer.

What started as a simple sorry kiss was turning into a problem. It was a spark hitting a gas leak. He was losing his grip on his self–control and had to force himself to break away.
They were both winded, their breathing loud in the dark alley. Her eyes were searching his in the dim light, looking for more. Her lips were red and swollen.
He looked at her, then couldn’t help himself and went back in. This time, she didn’t just take it. She stood on her toes and kissed him back. Her clumsy, desperate movements were the ultimate bait.
His hand moved over her back, feeling the curve of her waist. His head was telling him to stop, but his body wasn’t listening. If they kept going, he was going to lose his mind.
They stayed like that in the corner for a long time, the tension thick enough to choke on. Finally, Tammy had to pull back just to catch her breath.
He kept his arm around her, a smirk pulling at his mouth. “Forget how to breathe?”
“Shut up…
She was gasping for air. “Next time… I’m not letting you off that easy.”
Norman laughed and started walking. “You just need the practice. Come on, I’ll get you to your door.”
“Whatever.”
He fixed her dress for her, pulling the neckline up to hide the faint red mark he’d left on her skin. Even trying to be careful, he hadn’t been able to stop himself from marking her. He liked seeing it there. It was a
claim.
They stepped out of the alley. Tammy’s mood had completely flipped. She was practically glowing, humming some random tune as they walked.
“You’re that happy? You like my kissing that much?”
Tammy didn’t have a shy bone in her body. “Yeah. It felt great.”
Norman’s pulse spiked for a second. He had to look away and cursed himself under his breath.
“Don’t go saying that in front of other people. You hear me?”
“Saying what? That it felt great?”
“Stop saying it!”
“Heh. You like hearing it, don’t you?”
