Chapter 508 The Unwelcome Party

They reached the destination fast.

“Go on up. I’ll wait until you’re inside before I head out.”

Tammy gave him a quick hug. “Come back early, okay?”

She said it with a playful, sweet pout. The look in his eyes was pure devotion. “I will. I’ll get back as fast as I

can.”

She turned and went inside.

He stayed there for a moment, watching the entrance, then turned and walked away. He covered a few blocks on foot before sliding into a black car idling at the curb.

James was in the driver’s seat. “Sir, you are behind schedule…”

He didn’t finish the sentence. He caught Norman’s eyes in the rearview mirror. They were ice cold and full of a silent threat.

James shut his mouth instantly.

“I told you,” Norman said. “Don’t question me. Do it again and you’re gone.”

“Understood. It won’t happen again.”

In that split second, James felt as if he were looking at the ruthless Boss he once was–the man who ruled the Cole family with an iron fist.

The car pulled away.

Tammy didn’t go home. She went straight to Sandra’s place.

Sandra stared at her like she’d seen a ghost. “Why are you here? I booked a room for you two. Where is the big night?”

“Forget it,” Tammy said, dropping onto the couch. “He has training.”

Sandra didn’t question it. Training was mandatory and dangerous. No fighter would skip it unless they wanted to end up dead in their next match.

“So all that work for nothing?”

Tammy thought about it, her fingers tracing her lips as she started to smirk. “Not totally. It was… intense.”

“What? You actually did it?”

“No. We just kissed.”

She started rolling around on the sofa, grinning like a kid. The high–end, sexy image from dinner was

gone.

Sandra rolled her eyes. “You two are ridiculous. All that for a kiss?”

“He is just so good looking!”

“Yeah, yeah, stop rubbing it in. So what now?”

Tammy sighed. “I’m bored.”

She’d spent all day getting ready for a guy who wasn’t even there. She couldn’t stand the idea of sitting in her room alone, so she’d come to find Sandra.

“Fine. If you’ve got nothing to do, come with me. Some friends invited me to a party. You’ll fit right in.”

Mostly, Sandra just wanted to show off how hot her friend was.

“Sure. Let’s go.”

As long as she wasn’t alone, Tammy was game. They waited for Sandra to change and touch up her makeup before heading out.

Sandra hailed a cab to a luxury hotel where the prices were high enough to make your head spin. Tammy looked around with a frown, feeling a strange sense of familiarity with the place.

But once they got inside the suite, Tammy immediately regretted it.

The place was a circus. Men and women were packed into a massive room, at least thirty people, and the air was thick with the smell of booze and perfume.

She wanted to leave right then, but Sandra grabbed her arm. “We’re already here. Just stay for one drink. It’d be awkward to bail now.”

Out of

respect for the help Sandra had given her, Tammy stayed.

The second they walked in, the room went quiet

Sandra was pretty enough to handle the high–level fight scene, but Tammy was something else. She had the kind of aggressive, striking beauty that made everyone else in the room look like background noise.

A friend of Sandra’s stepped up. “You finally made it! We’ve been waiting.”

‘You didn’t tell me it was this many people.”

“The more the merrier. Is this

your

friend?”

‘Yeah. Her name is Flower,”

Sandra couldn’t bring herself to use the name ‘Flowie‘ in a place like this, so she just made one up. Tammy didn’t care.

‘Hi, I’m Cherlene. Welcome.”

Cherlene Blue led them to a seat and started the introductions. It wasn’t long before a group of men

“Flower? That’s a hell of a name. You’re easily the best–looking thing in this room.”

It was a blatant, low–effort line. Sandra expected Tammy to roll her eyes, but Tammy actually looked interested.

“You think so?”

The guy realized she was actually listening and kept going, feeding her the kind of empty ego–stroking that usually only works on the desperate. He told her she had a look that belonged on a magazine cover and that he couldn’t take his eyes off her. It was all shallow, but Tammy ate it up like it was the most fascinating conversation she’d ever had. Within minutes, she had three or four guys competing to see who could talk her up more.

Sandra wanted to help her out, but then she remembered how fast Tammy could drop a grown man and realized she didn’t need any help.

Cherlene leaned in and whispered to Sandra, “Where did you find her? Is she some kind of model?”
