Chapter 511 The Wrong Room
Finished
Tammy’s body was resilient. Back on the island, she’d eaten enough toxic plants to build a high tolerance, so the anesthetic was hitting her system differently. It was being metabolized fast, and she was already forcing herself awake.
She struggled for a long time before she could even sit up. The second she tried to swing her legs off the bed, she lost her balance and rolled onto the floor.
Her forehead slammed into the hardwood. The world went white, making her already dizzy head spin
even worse.
She waited a moment for the fog to clear, then dragged herself up. Shaking and stumbling, she managed to find her way into the bathroom.
She turned the tap on full blast.
She shoved her head under the freezing water, and the shock finally brought back a shred of sanity.
She was panting, her mind filled with a sudden, murderous rage. She hadn’t expected to get blindsided in a place like this.
The sound of the door opening made her eyes go dark..
Someone hurried into the room. “There she is.”
It was a bloated, middle–aged man. His eyes were unfocused, his body clearly wrecked by years of booze and women.
He was muttering to himself as he walked. “That damn Cole family! I can’t believe that little brat is still alive!”
Then his tone shifted. “I can’t wait to get a piece of this.”
He was the one who had hired the hit, specifically ordering his people to find him someone perfect. Ever since he’d seen her photo, he’d been on edge, desperate to get his hands on her. He’d slipped out of the banquet early just to vent the frustration he’d built up at the party.
“Where’d she go?”
The bed was empty, the sheets a mess. The bald man started to turn, but his head suddenly exploded in
pain
A vase shattered across his skull. He hit the floor face–first, blood pooling everywhere.
Tammy stood over him, her expression grim. That single move had almost wiped her out completely. Her body was still at war with the drugs, and she didn’t have full control of her lunds yet
She couldn’t stay here. She stumbled out of the room and into the hallway, trying to stay out of sight as she moved.
But the top floor had been renovated specifically for private guests. It was a goddamu labyrinth. You

needed a waiter to lead you through it just to find the exit.
Tammy wandered like a ghost, her head spinning worse with every step.

She eventually had to stop, sliding down against a wall to catch her breath. In that moment, she wanted Norman more than anything.
“I’ll handle it.”
A familiar voice echoed nearby. She froze, wondering if she was losing her mind. Was she hallucinating? That sounded exactly like him.
She followed the sound on instinct. She caught a glimpse of a familiar back turning a corner.
Bovine. There was no mistaking him.
The panic in her chest settled instantly. She followed him without a second thought.
She saw him walk through a set of double doors. She tried to go in after him, but a waiter stepped in her way. The man looked at her, clearly stunned by her face and the black silk dress. Since she looked like a guest’s date who had wandered off, he kept his tone polite.
“Miss, did you lose your mask?”
“Yeah.”
he sounded dazed, which the waiter took for being drunk. He pulled out a fresh, ornate mask and handed
o her.
his wasn’t a normal party. The guests here weren’t allowed to show their faces, so everyone wore a mask. Tammy was in a hurry to get inside, so she shoved the mask on and pushed through the doors.
She stopped dead.
Everyone in the room was wearing the exact same mask. It was a sea of identical faces. She stood there, her eyes scanning the crowd for him, but she couldn’t tell who was who.
Her head was throbbing, and her vision was doubling. She could barely keep her balance, let alone find one man in a crowd of clones. The air was thick with a heavy, choking perfume that made her want to gag
She realized then that this party was a mess.
Candles flickered on gold stands, reflecting off mirrors embedded in the blood–red walls. The people here weren’t having fun. Their eyes, visible through the masks, were full of greed and malice. They whispered in corners, their gazes crawling over her.
It felt like they were stripping her with their eyes. She wanted to snap their necks, but she knew she wasn’t back to full strength. She moved toward a dark corner to get away from them.
The drugs were finally fading. She could stand straight, but she still felt like she was drowning.
Norman was only a few yards away, deep in conversation. He stood with an arrogant posture, his face hidden, but his eyes were sharp. Anyone who caught his gaze felt a chill run down their spine.
