Ann turned her head. “Mommy, this place is awful.”
“What’s wrong with it?”

Ann pointed at the young shoe–shiners squatting on the sidewalk. “They should be in school, not here shining shoes.” She paused. “I want to open a huge school here someday. They should be able to go for free.”
Tatiana felt a tug at her heart. “Do you really want to do that?”
Ann’s eyes lit up instantly. “Can I?”
Tatiana reached out and stroked her head. “Of course. If that’s what you want.”
Ann rarely asked for anything. She was too well–behaved and always made things easy for everyone. Compared to Hubert’s energy, Ann was much more mature.
Combined with the guilt Tatiana felt over Ann’s past kidnapping, she was more than happy to grant the wish.
“Mommy, I want to build a school for them.”
Ann’s voice was firm.
Jasper nodded. “It’s a great idea. I’ll help you make it happen.”
“She’s asking me, not you,” Tatiana corrected him.
Jasper didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Hubert crowded in too, looking at his dad. “Then help me build a bunch of huge soccer fields. Give every kid a pair of cleats and a ball.”
Jasper smiled.
In a single conversation, two massive projects were decided. Even the driver was stunned by the scale of their casual spending.
A motorcade pulled into the hotel. For safety, Jasper had arranged a private security detail.
“Your luggage has been sent to your rooms,” the concierge said.
Jasper nodded. He knelt down to tie Ann’s loose shoelace. The movement was natural, as if he had never been absent from their daily lives.

Chapter 526 The Proposal

Tatiana watched him. The ice in her heart thawed a little more.
The suite was massive, two hundred square meters with four bedrooms and floor–to–ceiling windows overlooking the city.
Ann and Hubert each picked their favorite rooms.
Whether by design or accident, the kids left the two closest rooms vacant. One for her, and one for Jasper.
Tatiana looked at the two little schemers. They looked guilty, but she didn’t call them out.
“Tatiana, which one do you want?”
“This one’s fine,” she said, pointing randomly.
“Okay. I’ll take this one.”
Once their bags were inside, they went out to eat. They tried the local cuisine, which both Ann and Hubert hated immediately. The flavors were too strange.
In a rare burst of inspiration, Tatiana borrowed the hotel kitchen and made a simple batch of fried rice. The kids polished it off in minutes.
“Your cooking has improved,” Jasper praised.
“It’s just fried rice. Is it really worth a compliment like that?”
“No. But you are.”
Tatiana nearly choked. She shot him a glare. “Just eat your food.”
He let out a low laugh.
After lunch, they stayed in the hotel. It was scorching outside, far too hot to risk heatstroke. They didn’t complain. They stayed in their rooms with their laptops, working on proposals.
This was the task Tatiana had set for them.
If one wanted a school and the other wanted soccer fields, they had to come up with a plan. They needed budgets, site selection, and a presentation. If the plan was bad, the project wouldn’t be funded.
Ann and Hubert threw themselves into it. When they hit a wall, they shamelessly went to their consultant which was Jasper.

Chapter 526 The Proposat
When it came to building projects, who could compete with a man who had built a business empire?
Tatiana turned a blind eye to the cheating. She was busy contacting local leads to get the details on the new mineral deposit. The discovery had attracted wealthy investors from all over the globe, making Noreville busier than ever.
The auction was in seven days. She needed as much information as possible before then to decide if the vein was worth risking her entire cash flow.
She was buried in work. Ironically, Jasper was supposedly there for business but seemed to have all the free time in the world. He spent every second with the kids, guiding their plans and taking them out to scout locations.
Tatiana had felt a bit guilty at first, but seeing Jasper keep them busy and fulfilled made her relax
