Chapter 593 The Desperate Act
“Liam, tell us! Come on!”
Liam had no intention of answering. “Eat your dinner. Since when did you become so nosy?”
The group laughed and let the topic drop.
This was a formal dinner among friends. No one had brought dates or uninvited guests; they were just catching up on work. They weren’t the typical group of useless trust–fund kids. Their families were all in politics, and they had grown up in the same government compound. Liam wasn’t the oldest, but he was the most successful, so they all respected him as their leader.
The Langstrom family held the highest social standing among them.
This dinner was actually a low–key celebration for Liam’s divorce and a toast to getting rid of a toxic
woman.
But as the saying goes, speak of the devil.

Tatiana looked up and saw a woman in a hat and large sunglasses hurrying toward the private room.
Anna immediately got excited. Holy shit, here comes the drama! That’s definitely Sherry!
“She’s chasing him down?”
They were supposed to be finishing their meal, but Anna insisted they stay. She even grabbed a waiter and had them moved to a table closer to the private room.
Tatiana felt a bit ridiculous. “You can’t even see inside.”
“Listening is good enough. Do you know why I became an agent in the entertainment industry?”
“Why?”
“Because the gossip never ends!”
Tatiana couldn’t argue with that logic. She sat back and resigned herself to eavesdropping.
Inside the room, Sherry burst in and ripped off her hat and mask, revealing a beautiful face streaked with tears. She was thirty years old and still possessed the beauty of her youth, but her eyes were no longer innocent. Even her crying felt like a performance.
“Liam, can we talk? Please?”
The men in the room exchanged awkward glances.
Liam took a sip of his tea. “There’s nothing to talk about. Go home.”
“Liam, how can you be this cold? We’ve been together for so many years. Do you really feel nothing? Liam’s expression darkened. He set his cup down with a heavy thud. “Did you think about those years

when you were doing what you did?”

Sherry’s eyes overflowed with tears. “I’ve told you so many times, I didn’t want to. He… he forced me….
Liam let out a cold laugh. “Forced? You mean you went and knocked on a director’s door at midnight just so he could force you?”
Sherry turned pale, then flushed with shame. “No, I went there to go over the script…”
She couldn’t finish the sentence. No one in the room believed her; they were all watching her like she was
a circus act.
Sherry was furious but helpless. These men used to treat her with the utmost respect. Now, they looked at her like a common criminal.
She had made a mistake, but she had apologized. She was even willing to quit acting. Why wouldn’t Liam give her another chance?
“Liam, please forgive me just once. I know I was wrong. I won’t act anymore. You like kids, right? I’ll give you children. We can have two, okay?”
The mockery in Liam’s eyes only grew sharper.
He loved children. But Sherry had secretly aborted their child years ago, claiming it would ruin her figure and her career. She wanted to focus on her work.
And now, she was using a child as a bargaining chip. It was pathetic.
Liam stood up and walked slowly toward her.
Sherry thought he was softening. A small, involuntary smile touched her lips as she reached out to embrace him. “Liam, I knew you’d…”
He walked right past her.
He pulled open the door to the room. “Please leave. You’re interrupting our dinner.”
Sherry’s body swayed. “Liam… I’m not leaving!”

He lost his patience. He grabbed her arm, shoved her hat and glasses back onto her face, and pushed her toward the exit.
“Liam! Don’t do this, please…”
Liam was about to snap when he looked up and realized the people at the nearby table were watching whole scene.
His eyes met Tatiana’s.
Tatiana looked away awkwardly and took a sip of her tea.
Anna, on the other hand, looked like she had just watched an Oscar–winning performance.
