As she got close, the soft jasmine scent of her perfume surrounded Dorian. He liked that smell. His hand slid around her waist.
She froze. His hand was hot, and it pressed right through the fabric of her dress. She snapped, “Dorian, let go!”
She bit his arm. Light from the street lamps poured in, hitting his eyes and lighting them up with heat and desire. He hissed in pain but let go.
A crescent–shaped mark was left behind on his arm, red and deep. He didn’t care.
He sat back, eyes closed, fingers still moving slightly as if memorizing the shape of her waist.
Arden folded her arms and scooted all the way to the car door, putting as much space between them as possible.
“Pervert,” she muttered, “Using being drunk as an excuse
Lucien quietly started the car. Dorian didn’t say anything. His hand rested on the window, and a smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.
By the time they arrived at the Intervia Hotel, Arden was first out. She didn’t even glance at Dorian.
Lucien tried to stop her. “Mrs. Vale, he’s still in the car.”
“You take care of him,” she replied, heels clicking as she walked away.
She didn’t wait for them at the elevator either. Lucien sighed and opened the back door. “Sir, we’ve arrived.”
Dorian rubbed his temples. “Where’s Arden?”
“She went ahead. I’ll help you-”
“I don’t need you.”
He stepped out on his own and glanced toward the hotel entrance. No sign of her. “Ran off pretty quick,” he muttered.
Back in her room, Arden locked the door, took a shower and went through her skincare routine. She was just settling in to watch a drama when the door knocked
“Who is it?” she asked from inside.
“It’s Lucien. Sir’s still drunk–keeps asking for you. Could you make him something to help sober up?”
Arden rolled her eyes. “Get the hotel to make some.”
“They did. It didn’t help. He’s burning up. He has meetings tomorrow. Please, just check on him?”
“I’m not going,” she said flatly..
Lucien was panicking in the hallway. Arden refused to go, and there was nothing else he could do.

The boss had been drinking, and he couldn’t take any medicine. Helpless, Lucien had no choice but to head back to Dorian’s presidential suite.
Inside her room, Arden finally exhaled in relief when she heard him leave. But thirty minutes later, the knocking came again–this time louder and more urgent.
Lucien’s voice was anxious, almost pleading. “Mrs. Vale, it’s really bad this time. He’s burning up.”
Dorian was actually running a serious fever. Lucien was completely freaked out.
Arden frowned. “Didn’t you try to cool him down?”
“I did. It’s not working. His fever’s climbing.”
She sighed. She didn’t want to get involved, but she didn’t want him seriously ill either. He was the Vale heir. Eugenia’s grandson. Theresa’s son.
Out of respect for the two women who had treated her so well, she finally changed into a dress and followed Lucien to Dorian’s room.
“Does he always drink like this?”
“In Soutaria, yeah. Often. His old injury flares up when he drinks. The fever might be from inflammation.”
Arden’s expression shifted. She knew about that scar. She’d seen it before–at the Vale estate, the night they got close.
She remembered asking about it. He’d kissed her instead of answering. “You shouldn’t be moving like this if the wound hasn’t healed,” she had told him.
His eyes had darkened with desire. “You think I’m that fragile?”
“Don’t worry. I can still make sure you can’t get out of bed tomorrow,” he’d said with a smirk.
She snapped back to the present. “How did he get all those scars?”
Lucien hesitated. “Fights.”
“What kind of grown man still gets into fights?”
“Yeah… fights,” Lucien mumbled, sweat forming at his temples.
