Chapter 129 You Think I’m Broke?
Arden glanced at her phone.
She didn’t even bother opening the pictures. Her eyes went straight to Dorian’s WhatsApp message. “Post these on your feed.”
She rejected it immediately. “No.”
“What, you’ll post the ones with Vincent, but not with me?”
Dorian was sitting there, legs spread, looking annoyed. He tugged open two buttons on his shirt, eyes fixed on Arden like he was studying her reactions frame by frame.
“That’s different,” she said.
“How’s it different? He’s an outsider. I’m your husband.”
Arden rolled her eyes. “A husband no one’s allowed to know about. A secret husband, hidden away like some dirty little secret.”
Dorian’s jaw tensed. He couldn’t go public with Arden right now–not while Sevra and Ellis were still lurking in Soutaria. That had been the whole point of the secret marriage.
Back then, working in the Syndicate over there meant constantly walking the line between life and death. Being single gave him flexibility. If anyone found out he had a wife–especially someone like Arden—she’d become a target. So he said nothing, eyes lowered.
Arden didn’t bother with him. She focused on the ice cream in front of her, scooping small bites. It was cold, sweet, and honestly delicious. The silence dragged on.
Dorian just sat there watching her eat, no more questions about Feed, no more about the marriage.
Once she finished, Dorian asked, “Want anything else?”
She shook her head. “I’m full.”
Lucien went to pay. Dorian stood up. Arden followed. She spotted Lucien returning and asked right away, “Lucien, how much was it?”
Lucien, ever straightforward, answered before thinking. Three thousand.”
Arden nodded. Figures. This kind of place was made for the rich and powerful. For someone like her, just starting out, it was way too steep.
Definitely not her tax bracket. Still, splitting the bill was absolutely necessary.
She nodded again. “Mr. Vale, let’s split it. I’ll transfer you 1,500.”
She pulled out her phone and sent the transfer. Dorian’s phone buzzed. He took one look.
“Arden sent you 1500.
He almost laughed out loud. Had he just lived long enough to see a woman insist on going 50-50 with him?
Looking amused, he said, “You want to split the bill with me?”

way we keep things clean. No room for misunderstandings. Don’t you think that’s best, Mr.
“You think I care about your fifteen hundred bucks?”
Arden was dead serious. “I know you’re worth billions. Et I don’t want to spend your money.”
He stared at her, watching that sincere expression. He oddly defeated. “I want to spend it on you. That okay?”
“Nope. I still don’t want it.”
Dorian threw his hands up. “Arden, what is wrong with you? Other women ask for bags, jewelry, cards. You? You split the check? Do I look like a man who splits the Bill on a date?”
“Then treat me like a guy. Either way, I’m going Dutch.”
Why is she this stubborn?
“Arden, you’re something else.”
“Exactly.”
Across the restaurant, Mira had spotted them standing. She got up too and walked over.
“Done eating?” she asked Dorian.
He didn’t even look at her, just shoved his hands into his pockets and walked out.
Mira turned her attention to Arden.
Before she could say much, Dorian called over his shoulder, clearly impatient. “Arden, are you coming or what?”
Arden didn’t feel like dealing with Mira anyway. She gave a polite nod. “He is calling. Good night, Miss Luce.”
But Mira wasn’t done. “Arden, do you like Dorian?”
Arden paused, looked her in the eye. “No. If you do, go for it. Best of luck.”
Mira couldn’t quite read her. Was there really someone who didn’t like a man like Dorian?
“Seriously?”
Arden nodded. “I’m just a temp secretary assigned to this business trip. He’s my boss. I’m just here to do my job. So if you’re interested, give it a shot.”
Mira took out a watch in an elegant gift box–it looked expensive.
“Dorian got me a five hundred million dollar necklace at Haflin Global. I haven’t had a chance to return the favor. Could you give this to him for me?”
Arden nodded. “Sure.”

If Mira dared to give it, she didn’t mind delivering it. She took the box. “Til give it to him right now”
And can you tell him… I like hiin?”
No hesitation at all. Dorian had been waiting by the door, and naturally, he heard all of it.
Especially that “no. I don’t like him. That one stung.
