Chapter 132 Ignored and Replaced
No reply. She slept in until almost eleven. In the meantime, Dorian kept texting, “Awake yer?” Nothing
“Still asleep?” Still nothing.
“You alive?” Nothing.
“It’s almost noon. You planning to sleep through the while day?” No answer.
Dorian stared at the screen. Then finally called her. She was brushing her teeth in the bathroom and didn’t hear it.
By the time she picked up, it was his eighth call. She answered quickly, worried, her voice still soft with sleep, “Mr. Vale, is something wrong?”
Across the city, inside a sleek boardroom, everyone froze. The normally ruthless CEO had just held up a hand to silence the entire room.
His voice, however, was oddly gentle. “Just woke up?”
Arden yawned. “Yeah, sorry. Did something
happen?”
Dorian leaned back in his chair, his mood visibly shifting. Hearing her voice–knowing she was just sleeping and hadn’t meant to ignore him–actually made him feel better. He smirked.
The boardroom froze again. Just five minutes ago, the man had been hell on wheels. Every report shredded, every proposal torn apart. Now he was smiling?
Smiling?
Arden asked, “Is there anything urgent?”
Dorian replied, “No. The hotel will send lunch up. I’ll see you tonight.”
“Okay,” Arden mumbled, still a little dazed.
She didn’t say anything else. Dorian waited, expecting her to ask if he’d eaten, how his morning had been- something. But she stayed quiet.
After a full minute of silence, he hung up. Slammed his phone on the table. “Continue.”
The boardroom collective groaned inside. So much for hoping that phone call would soften him up. It had just made things worse.
By six that evening, Dorian was back at the hotel.
He knocked on Arden’s door. No answer.
Lucien came running up, looking panicked. “Boss. She refused the styling team and didn’t wear the gown you picked.”
Dorian turned slowly, hand braced against the doorframe. “She what?”
Lucien gulped. “She went to the banquet already. Left with another man. He’s also staying at Intervia.”

Dorian’s tone was derepively cabin. “Say that again.
“She she went in the Sinclair event with someone else
“Vincent” Dorian asked, swiping his card and entering as own rot. す。
“No, someone else?
Dorian strode inside. “Bring me my suit.”
The door slammed. He headed straight for the shower. Steam filled the bathroom, but it couldn’t wash away the boiling anger in his chest.
She really left. Even after he told her to wait for him, she still went. With someone else. Just like that.
He wanted to see who this guy was what kind of man Arden could possibly ditch him for. Water streamed down his torso, over the old scars on his back and chest the reminders of a past life few knew about
When he came out, Lucien was waiting with the outfit.
Dorian dried off and started dressing. Lucien hesitated, “Should I call someone else to be your date tonight?
Dorian shot him a glare. Lucien shut up immediately.
“No. I’ll find Arden at the banquet.”
“But she’s already there. With someone—”
“I know. You don’t have to keep reminding me.”
Dorian finished drying his hair, dressed in a tailored black shirt and matching pants. The fabric clung perfectly, emphasizing his frame. He rolled up his sleeves just enough to show off the watch on his wrist.
Suit jacket in hand, he walked out the door. Lucien followed silently. In the car, Dorian opened his
messages.
The last one from Arden was still that damn transfer notification.
She hadn’t sent a single message since. He typed, “Arden why didn’t you wait for me? Who’s your date?” No reply.
He stared at the screen, then tapped into his private group chat.
Dorian asked, “If a woman insists on splitting the bill during dinner, what does that mean?”
Cassian replied, “Wait, what? A woman made you go Dutch? That’s wild. If I were her, I’d be trying to drain your bank account.”
