Chapter 131 She Left Without Him

Dorian didn’t respond. Her tone was completely flat–n warmth, no sincerity.
Then tell me, who looked better in a suit, me or Vince
is this guy drunk? “They both looked fine.”
Not good enough. Dorian wasn’t going to let her off that easily. “Pick one.”
Arden gave him a long look. “You. Happy now?”
She didn’t bother waiting for his reaction and turned to look out the window. But Dorian wasn’t satisfied. He could tell every word had been tossed out just to shut him up.
From the front, Lucien kept his mouth shut. Their boss really wasn’t acting like himself lately. Talking this much? Making conversation? It was surreal. He risked a glance through the rearview mirror. Same face, same man–just possessed, maybe.
They arrived at the hotel. Arden didn’t wait for Dorian to open her door, practically leaping out as soon as the car stopped. She clearly had no interest in walking beside him either. But with his long legs, Dorian caught up easily. They entered the hotel one after the other.
At the elevators, Arden pulled out her key card and headed straight to her room. Dorian didn’t stop her this time–he went to his own suite.
Arden finally relaxed.
Meanwhile, Dorian poured himself a glass of ice water at the minibar and gave Lucien an order without looking up, “Find out who Arden’s date is.”
Lucien left. An hour later, he returned, looking uneasy. “Boss, I couldn’t find anything.”
Dorian had just gotten out of the shower. He was lounging on the couch in a robe, tablet on his lap, sorting through emails.
He looked up. “What do you mean, you
couldn’t?”
“There’s no record of her contacting any other man recently. I couldn’t find out who her date is.”
Dorian clicked through a file calmly. “Fine. Tomorrow, have a styling team ready for her. Outfit, makeup, everything.”
“Yes, sir. Should we confirm her as your date for the banquet?”
Dorian didn’t even look at him. “What do you think?”
Lucien cleared his throat. “Mira called again.”
“She’s not my problem.”
“And… Lacey called too.”
That got Dorian’s attention. “What did she want?”

“She asked if you were attending the banquet. Looks like she came to Zevia specifically for it Dorian raised an eyebrow. “The Wren family got invited
Firmabed
“Yes. Apparently Mr. Wren and Mr. Sinclair go way back So not just Lacey, her sister Alice is coming too. Dorian smirked, “Interesting. What else did Lacey say?”
“She asked if you had a date. Wanted to be yours.”
Dorian let out a dry laugh, “She wants to be my date? Who does she think she is?”
Lucien almost sighed in relief. He’d been terrified Doririnight say yes–if he did, Arden would freeze over
even more.
“She’s been sniffing around for days,” Lucien added. “Probably because you’ve been ignoring her. She’s getting desperate. And that lead role you promised her? Still hasn’t been confirmed. She’s stuck as a background nobody, still barely clinging to the D–list.”
Dorian’s eyes darkened. “Delusional. That girl really thinks she can manipulate me with that fake ‘savior‘ story?”
“She’s not worth the time,” he added. “I’ll let Cassian know.”
Cassian owned a media company in Avalen. He was also a major investor, the kind of power player who could make or break an actress overnight. If Lacey thought clinging to a fake story could score her a leading role, she had no idea who she was dealing with.
Meanwhile, in the room across the hall, Arden had just finished showering. She pulled out her phone and sent a message to her brother.
Arden texted Caleb. “Hey, are you coming to the Sinclair banquet tomorrow?”
“Of course,” Caleb replied a moment later. “Ares is a close friend. I’m already on my way to Zevia.”
“You staying at Intervia Hotel?” she asked.
“Yeah, you too? How’s the trip with Dorian?”
“It’s fine,” Arden replied quickly. Then after a beat, “Hey, are you bringing a date tomorrow? I was thinking maybe I could go with you.”
Caleb’s response came fast. “Dorian’s not taking you?”
“I don’t care who he takes,” she typed. “I just want to go with you. Is that okay?”
“Fine by me,” Caleb said. “I’m not bringing anyone, and honestly, I’d rather you not go with that man anyway.”
“Thanks,” she replied with a small smile.
The next morning, Dorian texted her first. “Nothing on the schedule today. I’m heading out for a bit. Rest up–I’ll pick you up for the banquet tonight.”
When Arden finally stirred–at her usual work alarm–she saw the message and immediately rolled over,
