Everything Was a Deal Until Divorce
Chapter 228 I Want My Brother
Caleb didn’t move. “But Arden-”
“I–I want Caleb,” Arden mumbled.

She’d had her face tucked against Dorian’s chest, but the moment she heard Caleb’s voice, she peeked up, eyes red, lips trembling.
Seeing her brother made everything feel worse.
Dorian looked down at her. The second she saw Caleb, the tears came fast and hard.
“Seriously?” he muttered. “The moment you see your brother, you cry? He’s going to think I beat you.”
“I want my brother,” she sniffled, tears spilling onto his hand. “If it weren’t for you, none of this would’ve happened.”
She turned to Caleb, voice breaking. “They pulled my hair and tried to force me to drink some weird stuff. Dorian, put me down!”
Being near Dorian was too dangerous. These jealous women always took it out on her–one day it might not just be a scare.
But Dorian’s grip only tightened.
“They already made you swallow that crap. I’m the only one who can help now.”
Instead of handing her over, he held her closer–just as Kade returned with the blanket. Dorian wrapped her in it and started walking away.
“Dorian!” Caleb snapped. “Did you not hear her? She said she wants me. Hand her over!”
Dorian didn’t even look back. “She’s been drugged. She needs a doctor. I have the top medical team ready. If I gave her to you, where would you take her? Urgent care?”
Caleb looked at Arden’s pitiful face, heart aching. “Arden, sweetheart, let them check you out first, okay? I’ll wait for you after the banquet and take you home.”
She nodded tearfully. The pink liquid she’d been forced to drink had definitely not been anything good.
“You have to promise,” she said. “Take me home tonight.”
“I will.”
Dorian took another step, but Arden still turned her head to talk to Caleb. He interrupted, “Arden. If you don’t want to be seen, stay under the blanket.”
The little head immediately ducked back in.
He carried her away.

Chapter 228 I Want My Brother
Caleb, Ruby, Isla, and Ares trailed behind them.
Finished
At the door to the room, they were still following when Dorian turned with a blank expression. “You really think it’s appropriate for all of you to come in?”
They all stopped. Isla, Ruby, and Ares stayed back. Caleb glanced at Dorian, who met his eyes without flinching.
Caleb sighed. “I’ll wait outside. Let me know when you’re done checking her.”
“Fine.”
Dorian shut the door behind him with a solid thud.
Arden immediately flung the blanket off her head. “What did they give me?”
He sat down on the couch, setting her on his lap sideways. His brows furrowed as he looked at the scratches on her arms. “We won’t know until the doctor arrives. But first, let me treat your wrist.”
He leaned in, breath brushing her neck. She was still on his lap.
Flustered, Arden jumped to her feet. “No, I can do it!” But pain shot through her leg, and she winced with a sharp inhale.
Dorian pulled her back down. “You really have to be this stubborn?”
“I said I’ll do it myself.”
She struggled to get up again. This time, he let her go and sat back, legs apart, watching her.
“You’ve hurt both hands. How exactly do you plan on doing that? What do you think I am, a wolf? You really think I’d bite?”
She bit her lip. “They attacked me because of you, Dorian. I need to stay far away if I want to stay alive.”
The room fell into an uncomfortable silence. His hands, once resting at his sides, curled into fists… then relaxed.
“We should just get the divorce over with,” Arden muttered.
“Didn’t we agree? After the next two days.”
“Good. Stick to that. I’m not putting up with any more of your obsessed groupies. Lacey and Vivienne were bad enough. What if next time it’s worse? If Isla hadn’t found me…”
She meant every word–she really did want to leave him.
Dorian’s gaze lingered on her bruises. Then he said, “Let me treat your wounds. I’ll sign the divorce papers.”
“…Promise?”
“Promise.”

He patted the space next to him. “Sit.”
Then stood to grab the first–aid kit.
He should’ve seen this coming. He thought Arden would be safe with Kade and Colton around, thought his presence alone would be enough.
He’d been wrong.
