He raised his eyes, just in time to meet Caleb’s direct stare.
Caleb walked up to him, his tone calm but firm.

“That’s from Arden. She insisted I pay you back. Keep the change–just don’t use it as an excuse to stay in her life.”
Dorian gave a low chuckle. “Caleb, do you think I care about your ten thousand bucks?”
“You don’t,” Caleb replied coolly. “But Arden wants a clean break.”
He clapped a hand on Dorian’s shoulder. “Man to man, I get it. But she filed for divorce to close this chapter. If you have even a shred of respect for her, don’t make it harder than it already is.”
Dorian didn’t answer. His eyes flicked toward Arden, who was walking just ahead with Noah and Vincent- arms full of bags, smiling easily.
There was no trace of hesitation on her face.
Dorian’s jaw tightened.
He flicked his cigarette into the trash can, brushed Caleb’s hand off, and headed out of the store.
By now, the groceries were done. Everyone had enough food, even skipped the farmer’s market.
Arden climbed into Noah’s car, riding up front. She guided him toward her apartment.
Isla, Celine, and Ruby were in a second car. Caleb and Vincent followed in a third. Dorian, Ares, and Lucien shared a fourth. Barry drove alone.
At the apartment complex gate, they passed a flower shop.
Arden, almost by habit, stopped to buy a few lilies. She noticed a display of blue roses in full bloom–and added a bundle of those too.
Since Noah was with her, he paid without a word. And then, as if on instinct, added a bouquet of vibrant red roses to the mix.
Before Arden could say anything, she’d already pulled out her phone and transferred him the full amount.
Noah didn’t argue. He knew her well enough not to. Still, he smiled and said, “You’ve got good taste.”
Arden returned the smile. “Now that I have a job, I can buy the flowers I like.”
He nodded. “So you’re still at Vale Group?”
“Yeah.”
“Everything going alright? Your boss isn’t giving you a hard time, is he?”

“No. It’s fine.”
“Good.”
Just then, Dorian and Ares pulled up behind them.
The moment Dorian stepped out of the car, his eyes locked onto Arden.
She stood there, arms cradling the flowers–white lilies, blue roses, and nestled in the middle, a stunning bouquet of red.
Dorian’s gaze froze on the red roses.
He narrowed his eyes, fingers curling slightly where they rested on the open car window.
Ares leaned against the car and followed his line of sight. He smirked.
“What, never bought the girl flowers?” he teased. “Getting jealous now that someone else beat you to it?”
Dorian looked away, eyes dropping to the ground.
“Jealous of what?” he muttered.
Ares scoffed. “Of a guy who’s younger, more romantic, and clearly more in tune than you ever were.”
Dorian’s jaw ticked. “He’s immature.”
“Maybe. But at least he knows how to show up with flowers,” Ares said, his voice low. “You? You’re standing here burning holes in them with your eyes.”
Dorian didn’t deny it.
Arden and Noah had stopped at the gate, waiting for everyone to catch up so they could enter together.
She turned slightly, glancing behind–probably checking who was still coming. Dorian rolled up his sleeves and walked straight toward her.
Without asking, he reached out and grabbed the red roses from her arms.
Arden frowned and tugged them back. “What are you doing?”
“You looked like you had too much to carry,” Dorian said, voice casual. “I’ll hold this for you.”
“I’ve got it.”
“No, you don’t.”
He tightened his grip. “I’ll carry it.”
“Seriously, Dorian. Give it back.”
He didn’t even flinch. Instead, he turned and walked back toward the flower shop. Ares, now grinning, trailed behind.
