Chapter 254 Act One

Just then, Colton called, “Marcus is getting suspicious about you and Arden. He’s been keeping an eye on you. Martin’s people too.”
Dorian’s eyes narrowed as he blew out a puff of smoke.
“Alright. Tomorrow, we put on a little show for them–Martin’s people, Marcus‘ too. I can’t leave for Soutaria with loose ends here.”
Kade had a bad feeling. “What kind of show? Boss, what if Arden takes it seriously? You’re planning to push her away? Make her think you don’t care?”
“What choice do I have? If she thinks I care, it’ll put her in danger, Sevra isn’t the kind of man to let something like that go. If he gets his hands on Arden, she won’t walk away from it.”
Kade knew all too well who Sevra was- -a drug lord in Soutaria, a ruthless arms dealer who used women like disposable toys.
He’d seen how much his boss cared
and now this… it felt cruel.
But for Arden’s safety, it was the only way. The colder Dorian was, the safer she’d be. Otherwise, those assholes would be all over her like a pack of wolves.
And Sevra had international backing. No matter how powerful Dorian was, he was still human.
“What if she ends up hating you? You okay with that?”
Dorian looked out the window. “I don’t even know if I’ll make it back alive. If she hates me, so be it.”
Kade went quiet. He glanced at the rearview mirror.
For the first time, he saw something like helplessness in the eyes of this man who’d always been unstoppable.
The next day was Saturday. Arden slept in and didn’t leave the apartment until around five or six in the evening.
She headed to Capitol Plaza. There were bakeries, bubble tea shops, coffee houses–all the usual spots.
She saw Dorian walking into a café. She hadn’t planned on following.
But he stood out too much. Beside him was a young woman, visibly pregnant–at least five or six months. along. Arden turned to head into the shopping mall instead.
Only to run into Celine.
Celine grabbed her. “Arden! Let’s go get coffee. I just saw my brother walk into the café–with a pregnant woman. You think he cheated on you and that’s why he wanted a divorce?”
Arden frowned. “Celine, we shouldn’t follow him. It’s not our business. I’m not with him anymore.”

“You see that bump? She’s gotta be, what, six months? And he’s flying out for a trip? What if he’s sneaking her off to have the baby somewhere? Come on, we’re following them.”
Celine dragged her in. Inside the cafe, the pregnant woman clung to Dorian’s arm.
“Boss, Arden and your sister are here. Martin’s men too. Sevra’s people just walked in.
Dorian didn’t flinch. “Take the window seat.”
Once they sat down, he leaned toward the pregnant woman. “Couple more months and the baby’s here. You’ll be rewarded.”
She leaned against him just right. “Mr. Vale, do you want a boy or a girl?”
“I’ll love either.”
The moment he finished speaking, Celine pulled Arden forward.
Celine was livid. She grabbed the coffee on the table and splashed it right at the pregnant woman. “You- how can you be so shameless?! Hooking up with him, getting pregnant?! When did this bastard get you pregnant? Before Dorian even came back?”
The woman nearly cursed aloud, but Dorian’s glance stopped her cold. She wiped her face and sniffled pitifully.
“Mr. Vale… who is she? Why would she do that?”
She rubbed her belly gently. “She scared me and the baby…”
Arden stared, stunned. If this woman had gotten pregnant before Dorian returned… and he’d still slept with her after that…
Suddenly, everything felt disgusting. Celine made to lunge at her again. Arden pulled her back. “She’s pregnant. Be careful.”
Dorian looked at her, his voice cold. “Were you following me? Did I ever tell you, Arden? I don’t like you. I told you to stop clinging to me.”
He put a hand on the woman’s belly. “See this? I’m going to be a father. Get over me.”
Arden laughed, a bitter sound. She stared at him coolly. “Dorian, I hate you. I really do. What made you think I liked you?”
She grabbed the other cup of coffee and threw it in his face. “I’d fall for anyone before I’d fall for you.”
Then she turned and walked out. And just like that, she realized what a joke the past few years had been.
In the far corner, two men watched it all unfold.
One muttered, “Didn’t think Dorian was such a player. Hid this pregnancy for six months? Impressive.”
The other snorted. “And Martin thought he liked Arden? This wasn’t affection–this was a vendetta. Let’s go. We’ve seen enough. Tell Sevra. Arden’s not worth the effort.”
