Chapter 261 Coffee Rules

Funghind

The weather was still cold. Arden sat upright in a long, light brown wool coat, eyes fixed on her laptop.

When Dorian walked in, nearly everyone looked up and greeted him with, Mr. Vale.

Everyone but her. Her head stayed down the entire time.

Dorian glanced at her a few times before heading to the head seat. Warren noticed Arden didn’t stand or greet him and quickly called out, Arden.

Yeah?She finally looked up.

Her face was soft and sweet, but a little dazed, like someone who’d just been shaken out of a daydream A few wisps of hair had fallen along her pale neck.

Warren gave her a pointed look. Go make coffee for Mr. Vale.

Arden took a deep breath to calm herself. It’s fine. It’s totally fine.

Maybe he really had forgotten all about her. That would be for the best.

She got up and walked over to the head of the table. Dorian looked up, watching her take each step closer. She had definitely put on a little weight.

But her complexion was glowing. Her skin was luminous, her lips a soft pink.

As she got closer, the faint scent of jasmine she always carried hit him. In that split secondseeing her, smelling herhis chest, hollow for so long, suddenly felt full again.

She stopped at his side and spoke in a formal tone, Mr. Vale, what would you like to drink today?

Dorian twirled the ring on his pinky, pretending to be distracted, Oh? What can you make?”

Just tell me what you want. I can make it.

She didn’t look at him, lashes lowered.

Look at me.” Dorian tossed the line out casually.

Arden’s hands tightened around the hem of her coathe noticed that, of course. She’s nervous, Tch.

Did she think he was going to bite?

Still, after so long, he couldn’t help wanting to tease her a little. What’s wrong? Scared of me? Are you new here?

Arden was speechless. Was heserious? Had he really forgotten her? Perfect.

She replied, Arden, project planning department. Nice to meet you, Mr. Vale.”

She finally looked upbut her eyes were calm and distant. That indifference stung Dorian more than he

expected.

I’ll take an iced Americano. No sugar.

Lucien, standing nearby, blurted out, Sir, you can’t-

He didn’t finish. One glance from Dorian shut him up. Arden’s lashes trembled hard.

Finished

Oh, he’s 100% here to get back at me. I straightup dumped an iced Americano on him. It even hit my handit was freezing.

What’s wrong? Can’t make it?

I can. Please wait a moment, Mr. Vale.”

She turned and walked out. Just as she reached the door, Lucien called out, WaitMiss Wynn, please make it hot instead. And bring a cup of warm water too.

Arden looked back at Dorian. He was looking at her too, his eyes dark.

In that glance, she noticed he’d lost weight. His features looked sharper. Maybe it was just her imagination, but even his lips looked pale.

She looked away. Got it.”

The room went dead silent after she left. Dorian just sat there, not saying a word. His presence alone weighed down the room like a storm cloud.

No one dared speak.

Not until Arden came back, first placing down a cup of warm water. She left again, returned shortly with a hot coffee, and placed it in front of him.

Then she returned to her seat.

Dorian’s eyes followed her hand as it passed by, nails freshly manicured, neat and glossy.

When she left, the faint sweetness in the air faded with her.

He picked up the cup she’d placed, sipped some warm water, then finally spoke.

Let’s begin.

The team lead started the presentation. Sienna was the last to go. Once she finished, Dorian glanced at

Arden.

She’d been taking notes the entire time. His gaze lingered on her for a while.

Talia nudged her with her elbow, then leaned over. Mr. Vale is totally staring at you.”
