Chapter 260 The Office Buzz

She had just sat down when Warren came out of his office and said, “Everyone stay alert. Mr. Vale will be in this afternoon.“.
“What? Mr. Vale’s coming back to the company?”
The news sent a ripple through the room. As soon as Warren stepped back into his office, mirrors came out and people began reapplying makeup.
Even Talia lit up, nudging Arden. “He’s been gone for so long. Do you think he’ll be even hotter now? Honestly, I kind of missed him. We haven’t had a handsome face to look at lately.”
None of the guys around here quite measured up. Arden calmly shook her head. “I don’t know
Talia turned to Sienna. “What about you?”
Sienna pulled up her project proposal and started working, replying in a flat tone, “No idea. Work gives me more of a sense of security and fulfillment. As for Mr. Vale, I’m happy just admiring him from afar.”
She handed Arden a document. “Take a look at the AI section for this project. Our next one’s tied to it.”
“Got it.”
Compared to any fantasy, Arden found stability in work and money.
Even the name Dorian had started to feel distant. She was gradually letting him go.
Talia leaned closer. “You’re really not interested in Mr. Vale? Come on. A man like that?”
Arden tapped her pen on Talia’s arm. “Didn’t you tell me on my first day not to get any ideas about him? Guys like that live in another world. Too far out of reach. I care more about bonuses and salary. More money beats everything.”
At 1:30 in the afternoon, Dorian arrived at the office. Lucien informed the department heads–meeting at
two.
The design and strategy team had to attend in full to report project progress. That included Arden.
She brought her notebook. Sienna was the lead for her project, so she’d be the one presenting. Arden just needed to sit in.
But as soon as Warren finished announcing the meeting time, he turned to her. “Same as last time. Arden, stay with Mr. Vale and ask what he’d like to drink.”
“Me?”
Arden pointed at herself, looking completely stunned.
This guy–Dorian–wasn’t still holding a grudge about that coffee incident, right? Coming to the company just to get revenge?

“Uh, Warren… can we switch? I’m kind of clumsy. I’d hate to screw this up and embarrass the department.
Bonnie was fuming with jealousy.
Last time it’s Arden. Now it’s her again. Why? Why is she always the lucky one?
She quickly volunteered. “Warren, I’ll go.”
Warren shook his head. “No. Lucien specifically requested Arden. Mr. Vale really liked the coffee she made last time. Arden, do your best.”
‘But I didn’t even make it well,” Arden protested, panicking.
What was going on? They were divorced. She had thrown coffee at Dorian.
Of course he was holding a grudge.
Was he going to use this opportunity–with all the company’s execs present–to catch her slipping up and fire her in front of everyone?
Or humiliate her enough that she’d resign herself? And then be forced to pay a massive penalty for breaching her contract?
God help her–she didn’t have that kind of money.
Bonnie sneered, shooting Arden a cold look. Talia glared at her. “What’s that face for? Jealous Arden’s got Mr. Vale’s attention?”
Bonnie didn’t respond. She strutted off in her heels toward the restroom.
‘Bet she’s going to fix her makeup again,” Talia muttered. “She keeps dreaming about landing Mr. Vale, but he looks at her like she’s invisible. Cold as ice.”
Arden sat back down, visibly worried.
Talia noticed. “Arden, it’s just coffee. Why are you so tense?”
‘Really? I look tense?”
‘Yeah.”
